I have no problem saying that I am a fan of the romantic comedy drama. In fact, three of my favorites were on last night. I am assuming because it was Valentines day. I love never been kissed, How to lose a guy in 10 days, Drive me Crazy, 10 things I hate about you, Shes all that etc

Anyway, my wife came up as Ben and Andy were singing you're so vain to each other and said, oh your favorite is on. After that movie was over, I turned over to Girl Next Door which is another favorite. My wife commented that I just love chick flick romcoms. I said yes, I do. But there is no way that GND is a chick flick. She disagreed.

What do you say

I love Elisha Cuthbert in this movie as much as anyone, but not sure why you wouldn't think it is a chick flick?  Is it because of the porn industry tie in?

so is this cant buy me love but with a lady of the night or what brohans take that to the bank

Had not seen it in a very long time.  Watched it twice in the last week.  Agree 10000% with Shady.

Chick flick has to appeal to women and have a female protagonist. A romantic comedy is not necessarily a chick flick. Is Something About Mary a chick flick? A chick flick can also have nothing to do with romance. Beaches and Devil Wears Prada are both chick flicks.

It’s more of a male fantasy piece than a chick flick.

“Hey, I’ve got this idea for a chick flick... there’s a nerdy kid and his friends who are virgins and obsessed with women, and then one day they meet a smoking hot pornstar. Eventually he directs a successful educational porn and bangs the hot chick all day riding around in his sports car.  Great chick flick, right?”

🤨

It's sort of neutral with a lean towards an element of a chick flick sexual empowerment movie, IMO. I agree with your wife -- kind of.

For example, every single Hallmark movie ever made.

Love the soundtrack too.

Favorite line:

Person in crowd: "Why'd you decide to skip film school? Don't you think you're a little young?

Eli: SHUT THE F*** UP! Next question.

Im going out on a limb and saying this is the only movie to feature a Youth of Today song
You're probably correct. I just glanced over the sound track and noticed some of the songs in the movie were not on there. Mannish Boy, Lapdance, Atlantis & This year's love apparently didn't make the official soundtrack but were used perfectly in the movie IMO.

No Way and Elisha Cuthbert looked hotter in that movie than any actress ever did in the history of movies.
I caught some of the best scenes in that movie last night.  Definitely not a chick flick.

Also, Cuthbert is #1 on "my list".  You know, that list of celebs that you're "allowed" to bed if the situation ever arose?

I voted no. A big thing with chick flicks is a dreamy storyline.

This has elements of a dreamy storyline, where by the end everything falls perfectly into place for 2 people in love, but the big element that keeps it from being a chick flick is that a large majority of women aren't dreaming of this scenario happening to them, with them being a pr0nstar.

I will always remember ... the three legs of the tripod.

Here's how you know it's not a chick flick -- guys like it a lot more than women. My ex didn't like it at all. I think you need to have experienced boyhood fantasies to really embrace it, but this movie is hilarious. It's fun to watch now knowing the careers that Timothy Olyphant and Paul Dano went on to have. This is the 15-year anniversary! The Girl Next Door and Eurotrip both came out in 2004. I loved each then and still think they hold up. Two raunchy teen movies of that era that were much funnier than expected.

I agree with damn near every word in this post. Have no problem watching chick flicks. GND isn't one of them.

"He's Just Not That Into You" is probably my sneaky favorite as it really accentuates the crazy minds of many women.
