Border Crossings Have Skyrocketed Under Trump (1 Viewer)

Trump's signature political talking point.  He'll be the toughest, the best on illegal immigration, yet all numbers show that since Trump took office immigration from the South has skyrocketed.

Other than trying to build a wall, which will do nothing for those seeking asylum, the vast majority of those trying to get in, what gives Trump supporters any confidence that he is the one who can handle the issue?  What's he done to show that he has any capability to handle the issue?

If the wall gets built, nothing changes that's causing people to flee to the US, all it will do is slow down the least impactful component of immigration.

He is ill equipped to handle the nuances for dealing with why immigrants are coming here and why once they get here they find ready employers.  Both sides of the equation need to be dealt with with intelligence and deft.  Neither are attributes that describe Trump.

Link?

Yep.  And Trump, prompted by Stephen Miller is singularly focused on keeping the people out.  Trying to keep things out without addressing why they keep coming here is a losing strategy.

Yes the numbers have increased. The violence on this side of the border has not. That is the main lie that the President is telling about this issue.

Another  pertinent fact is this: with regard to El Salvador, there is a direct inverse relationship between the amount of foreign aid we give them and the number of migrants from that country who come here. Simply put, the more aid we give them, the less people come. Trump’s decision to cut off aid entirely will bring about numbers that dwarf what we’re currently looking at.

Glad to hear you agree it is a National Security.  If only Congress would get their heads out of their ### and agree we could implement some security measures.

Illegal and legal immigration were all going down before Trump, now they're skyrocketing.  And you think he's the one to solve the issue.

bahahahaha

Democrats should be happy with the massive flow of illegals then, right ?
Well, they're not really 'illegals' until they decide to break a law, right?

The big issue is what to do with all of these people while they go through the legal court system, which can take years. Reducing judges is probably not the wisest move.

I think virtually all of Congress and virtually every single person on this board has agreed to implement some security measures.  however, a wall is dumb so that's out.

So the man whose campaign alternated between calling himself the greatest dealmaker in world and declaring "only I can fix it" can't get a deal done and can't fix it himself.  Perfect.

What is wrong with you?

Yeah because the D's are encouraging them to come here illegally. Heck, they even want them to be able to vote.

You have to be able to think with no bias. It's this simple D's were against illegal immigration while they controlled the WH. They switched to being the friend of illegals hoping they could use them to regain power once they lost the WH.

Of course one of yours disputes your claims.

2019 - Jerry Brown says there’s “no massive wave of migrants pouring into California.”

Part of the reason they’re coming here, in addition to the violence, are the droughts. They’re adding to the poverty level in these countries, and they’re caused by- surprise!- global warming.

Andy Yang has theorized that the angry reaction to these migrants from Trump supporters has less to do with the supposed threat of violence or with bigotry (though both of these are certainly elements) but with instead an intuitive fear of increasing scarcity; as Trump himself put it over the weekend: “America is full; there is no more room.” Yang believes that as our economy changes due to climate change and robotic technology, this fear of scarcity will only increase; it’s at the root of many of our problems. I think he’s right.

Fake news. Fake post.  But why do you think he wants to build a wall?  If anything he saw this was going to happen and is trying to plan for it but faces nothing but opposition from the Democrats.

Why do some of your posts do this?  I don't think I've seen this happen with anyone else....

If you believe people here, it's encrypted instructions to my Russian counterparts.

Сделай Америку снова великой

One of the reasons it has increased recently is that there is fear in Central America that Trump really will close the border or end the asylum system. Basically, if they don't go now, they won't get a chance to go.

Also, word had spread that ones chances for getting asylum goes up if one travels with their entire family.  Not sure if the stats bear that out or not.

Also, for those that get a court date 2 years out for their asylum hearing and are released, what % actually show up for their hearing? I could imagine it might be better to just stay underground and risk deportation than go to the hearing, lose, and get shoved onto a plane bound for San Salvador.

Then maybe Trump should close his damn mouth and not be such a blow hard.

You would think if the Democrats want them for votes they would have been encouraged to come in when they had the power to solidify that power,  instead of waiting until they were out of power.

He's doing it on purpose. It's just a thing you can do with unicode text and people figured out how to abuse it on purpose. Given that it is butcher boy, I'm guessing he saw people doing it on 4chan or The_Donald or some damn place to imply that Democrats are "demons" or something. There's generators online. He's specifically putting it on the "s" at the end of "Democrats".

Strange.

I don’t get it.

It's impossible to conclude anything other than Trump has made the problem worse.  Whether through his rhetoric, reduction in asylum judges, whatever.  People are now coming here in greater than numbers than ever (mostly through asylum channels) and Trump's big idea is to build a wall that does nothing to impact why people are coming here.

And all we get from Trump supporters is that dems should be happy and there will be more dem voters.

Is it any wonder why dialogue between Trump and non Trump supporters is almost impossible.  They think the emperor is resplendent in beautiful robes and finery.  We see the sad nakedness of his reality.
