Official: the NFL will release its 2019 regular season schedule on Wednesday night at 8 PM EST.

4:07 AM - 16 Apr 2019

We live in a time where computing power is effectively free and unlimited. Among the 10 trillion or whatever schedule permutations there are, you'd think there would be a few that feature 6 teams on bye weeks 7-10 and 4 teams on bye weeks 6 and 11, the way George Halas intended.

Nonetheless, I eagerly anticipate some combination of bad teams being on bye week 5 and 12 and not having a starting fantasy RB week 9 when there are like eight teams on bye, because reasons.

If the rumors are true that New England plays the Sunday night game in Week 1 (with Bears/Packers the Thursday opener), the gods will have saved us from yet another Dallas-NY Giants blah fest on Sunday night.  Ye gods!

London games:

Bears vs Raiders - Week 5

Panthers vs Bucs - Week 6

Bengals vs Rams - Week 8

Texans vs Jags - Week 9

Mexico City game:

Chiefs vs Chargers - Week 11

Chiefs vs Chargers - Week 11
This should mean we are looking at second year in a row the Chiefs have a week 12 bye which probably does not mean much to most people except those who play in FFPC redraft leagues. These leagues have an 11 week regular season schedule and week 12 is first week of the two weeks playoffs so always a bit of dilemma in how to look at players on bye that week.

An interesting read

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26523224/how-mathematicians-trying-make-nfl-schedules-fairer

"This is a field I've worked in for 46 years, including 43 as a professor," Karwan said by phone last week. "I've worked on very difficult problems that take more than 12 hours on the supercomputer to solve. And this is by far the hardest any of us have ever seen."
"Indeed, Karwan calculates there are more possible NFL schedules (10 to the 300th) in a given year than there are atoms in the universe (10 to the 80th)."

first thing I though of as well....

in some of my leagues we have DH weeks and week 12 was often one of them.....as in the past bye weeks seemed to be over by then....tough break for Mahomes owners....ouch....

maybe they give em a bye leading into that week...

That is a good read....its nice to see the NFL doing just about everything they can to try and make it better....there will still always be quirks and complaints, but I think if teams realize they are trying to do the best they can and that some years they may have to "take one for the team"...it will help....if the NFL can avoid kind of "screwing" the same team in back to back years or something it will help....

Why?  Isn't Mexico City the equivalent of playing any other away game?

Not really schedule related, but the Chargers home jerseys this year will be their powder blues.

It's a little more travel but it's considered an international game and NFL usually gives those teams the bye week following those games. It's what they did last year for Rams vs Chiefs.

The Patriots only have one game not in the Eastern time zone and that is their game in Houston. Not traveling far and not having any west coast trips should be a decent advantage.

The NFL gave us the Bills on Thanksgiving afternoon in the game at Dallas.  Way to give your fans the middle finger, NFL.

Factoring in quality of opponents, no home games between weeks 2 and 9 and an astonishing 7 early noon games for a west coast team I have reached the conclusion that the Raiders just received the worst schedule I've ever seen.
