Andy Barr, who narrowly defeated Amy McGrath, is likely to be embarrassed, especially if both Amy and Alexandria show up for a town hall in Kentucky. This should be fun - my money would be on the waitress and fighter pilot. There's common ground between workers in NY and Kentucky.

 
The Republicans are starting to realize that once the smear of "liberal/socialist" comes off of folks like AOC and Bernie, their policies are extremely popular with their base voters. It's like the movie "They Live":  They're TERRIFIED that core Trump voters may put on the sunglasses.

 
Left populism and right populism aren’t so different. I don’t agree with AOC’s more populist views, but they are precisely the views that could appeal to Trump voters and turn them from red to blue. That’s much more likely with AOC’s positions than with Nancy Pelosi’s. Maybe Republicans should fear AOC as much as they are often accused of fearing her.

I disagree that they aren't so different but I do agree that left populism is the way to peel voters from Trump. Especially when so many are former Obama voters disillusioned with neoliberal policy.

I don’t see why a lack of coal miners in his district matters.  His invitation was to see the impact on coal miners in his state.

She doesn’t need an invitation anyway.  If she wants to go, she can, and should go.

Fortunately that's what it looks like she might do.

Corbin Trent, a spokesman for Ocasio-Cortez, told The Courier-Journal, "Luckily, we still have open borders with Kentucky. We don’t need Congressman Barr to meet with coal miners and have a town hall, though we’d love his participation if we do."
