Justice Democrats (1 Viewer)

Could have thrown this in the AOC thread, but this is a bit broader than just her.  The Justice Democrats and the closely related Brand New Congress are Political Action Committees which are actively running massive recruiting campaigns to find candidates and endorsing other candidates who fully embrace their progressive agendas.  Justice Democrats recruited 12 candidates for the last Congressional midterms, of which only AOC was the only successful one.  They also endorced another 66 candidates of which 6 won.  These progressive candidates get a lot of free air-time on progressive outlets such as The Young Turks which are supported by big-time Democrat doners/investers such as Jeffery Katzenburg to the tune of $20 million.

The goal of these PACs and media outlets is to promote a team of hundreds of clone 'Bernie-type' progressive candidates who will take over congress and impliment their progressive platform.  In fact it a litmus test, which at a high level includes:

GREEN NEW DEAL

SECURE A LIVING WAGE AND TIE IT TO INFLATION

ENACT A FEDERAL JOBS GUARANTEE

REBUILD OUR CRUMBLING INFRASTRUCTURE

BLOCK BAD TRADE DEALS

END TAX DODGING AND LOOPHOLES

END UNNECESSARY WARS AND NATION BUILDING

MEDICARE FOR ALL

FREE PUBLIC COLLEGES AND TRADE SCHOOLS

DEFEND AND EXPAND SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE, AND MEDICAID

ENSURE PAID VACATION TIME, SICK TIME, FAMILY LEAVE, CHILDCARE

FIGHT FOR RACIAL JUSTICE

PROTECT WOMEN’S RIGHTS

COMBAT HOMELESSNESS

POLICE REFORM

ENACT COMMON-SENSE GUN REGULATION

VOTING RIGHTS

ABOLISH ICE

END CORRUPTION

REFORM OUR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM

IMPLEMENT COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM

STOP SELLING ARMS TO HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATORS

END THE FAILED WAR ON DRUGS

ABOLISH THE DEATH PENALTY

DEMOCRACY REFORM

OPPOSE BIGOTRY

DEFEND NET NEUTRALITY

At a high-level many of these sound OK to most Democrats, but diving down to the details such as those outlined in the Green New Deal are far-more radical.

Now there is nothing really illegal about this.  Well except for maybe som of the "dark money" schemes which funnel money between various PACs to dodge FEC reporting requirements and having had people like AOC and her campaign lead on the board of directors of a PAC which contributes money to themselves.  But let's not quibble over such violations.  What is troublesome is how they spin these candidates and the propaganda they put out. There was the nicely produced propaganda piece which used a slick paintbrush style illustrations to promote wonderous outcomes of passing Green New Deal.  That piece seems to have faded into obsurity as quickly as it rose.

Now there is a propaganda piece being put out on Netflix, which will appropriately first debut on May 1st, the highest regarded holiday of those not to be named countries both past and present.   From the trailers it looks like another very slick production which I am sure will tug at the heartstrings of many.  The problem is the story tells the story which the handlers want to tell, not a truthful perspective.  They are not going to detail how these candidates are recruited.  They are not going to tell how the agenda was crafted.  They are not going to tell you how these women are pawns in their game to advacne their agenda.  They are not going to tell the truth about the organizations which are funding them and running their campaigns.  They are going to present a story of self-made determine women who rose above hardship to become leaders of some grass-roots effort.  They are going to tell you how these women represent the people in their district, not that they are beholden to some national agenda.

The ultimate goal is to purge moderates out of the Democratic party and take control.  This is really just a much more centralized and coordinated version of the Tea Party movement.   For now the movement is still in the fringes.  But they are well organized, are well funded and have very talented people putting out slick propaganda.

I don’t think there’s much that’s new here. The reason that the Tea Party was noteworthy was because prior to them, the grass roots/populist element inside the GOP was devoted mostly to social issues like abortion, leaving economic issues to the chamber of commerce aligned elites. So the Tea Party represented a significant change.

But on the Democratic side progressives have always been interested primarily with pocketbook issues and they’ve always fought against the establiahment for going too slow. This battle has gone on for decades. If either the economy goes bad or Republicans are winning elections, progressives gain the upper hand. They lose the upper hand when things are going well again. Same as it ever was.

I don't recall there ever being an organized and centralized effort to do such.  Screening thousands of candidates is kind of new.  Recruiting people who have been not involved in politics is pretty unique.  This is a new strategy.  And they way AOC is being promoted in social media, talk show circuits, on Netflix, on YouTube.  I have never seen this that such a low-level politician getting so much attention.  This is all new.

You’re right about AOC but I have trouble believing that’s an organized, deliberate effort. It’s more related, IMO to Kylie Jenner and Billie Eilish: social media creating its own superstar celebrities.

AOC was a creation of the Justice Democrats, not social media.  Social media was just a tool for them.  This Netflix movie is purely a production from Justice Democrats.  The Justice Democrats in essense ran an internal American Idol type reality effort to get her.  This is very calculated.

In reality they should break away from the Democratic party and form the "Progressive party" Would also love to see the "Moderate Party"  It will never happen but it would be nice to have four viable different options.

Yeah it's working out great in Israel and the UK these days.

Cause and effect. The country swings too far to the right via Trumpism and you're going to fuel populist movements agendas and power on the other side. A more reasonable approach to governing, for example not putting in place industry people to destroy government oversight in areas like the EPA, etc would limit the growth of these movements.

I don’t really have an issue with anything but the illegal money schemes.  I believe that’s being looked into though.  Politics is propaganda.

About as good as our 2 party system here. On POTUS radio this weekend they said moderate Dems outpoll hard line progressive Dems 2-1.  Of course the hard line progressives are much more vocal though.

They also stated moderate candidates would take much of the GOP vote as well. The majority of the country is much more between the 20s than in the red zones.

Yes, as long as it is treated as such.  If the media fawns all over it and it wins awards for best documentary, then there is a problem.

all I see are massive tax increases and more rules/laws to shackle the citizens of the USA for the most part .... might as well just say Justice Democrats want Socialism ... it'd be way way shorter

If they are able to get the numbers required to 'take over congress and impliment their progressive platform' then they are genuinely doing the will of the people.

I feel a more likely outcome is that they become the 'thumbs-down' votes that hinder the normal Democrat platform.

There is an unsustainable trend of concentration of wealth in this country which is not healthy for the economy. It can't continue without drastic outcomes. Nothing wrong with asking the wealthy to pay a little more to balance the ledger a bit. Ask people in Flint Michigan if they think the people in charge of making sure they have clean water should have been "shackled" with more rules/laws. Ask the parents who lost their precious children at Sandy Hook if we should have "shackled" our citizens with common sense gun laws and regulations. I could go on and in. The pendulum has swung way too far to the right.

if you want wealth, go get it

I would argue there is a trend of the Govt shackling people with social programs and free this and free that enabling people to stay in poverty ..... their choice, but the Fed Govt is enabling it

Stop giving free everything, people to need to earn and work for what they have .... that they don't is not healthy for the economy

the people entrusted the Govt with taking care of the water supply ... how'd that work? and now trusting them to fix it ... how's that working ?. trust the Govt eh ? the pendulum has swung that's for sure....but to the left, . and AOC has kicked it even further left and people like Warren and Bernie too
