College Underclassmen Who Declare For Draft But Don't Get Drafted (1 Viewer)

The worst case I can remember was Mike Williams. A court ruled that true sophomores could play in the NFL so he declares and gets an agent. Before the draft begins, that court ruling is overturned and the NCAA won’t reinstate him so he loses a year of football. Now it didn’t hurt him in terms of draft capital but who knows if it had a negative impact on how ready he was and how his career planned out. That was such a #### move by the NCAA and NFL.

The problem with the NCAA is that much like unions they both did serve a good purpose, but that purpose is easily and quickly manipulated due to the almighty dollar.  And once the leaders of those organizations directly become the beneficiaries monetarily of the people they claim to serve, the organization loses its original purpose.

The NCAA at this point is nothing more than a corporation that makes a ton of money off football and basketball.  And they are there to protect that cash stream.   The women's sports and men's non-revenue sports (of which I played two in college) do no more than serve as a guise for how the NCAA wants to be envisioned.

Colleges were meant to educate people.  In the US (and the US alone), revenue sports has become the focus of many, many schools to the detriment of eduction.
