Guardian story.

Over 270 election workers have died and another 1800+ are sick, supposedly due to exhaustion after working long hours in indonesia’s massive national elections 2 weeks ago. 

There’s got to be something more to this, right?  How could the overwork be so severe that people died rather than just collapsing and later recovering?

Seven million election officials. 11 days since the election. 272 deaths. 1,878 ill.

0.00389% of election officials have died, or 1 out of every 25,735 officials.

0.02683% of election officials have fallen ill, or 1 out of ever 3,727 officials.

The Indonesia crude death rate is roughly 7/1000 per year. Over 11 days, there is a crude death rate of .211/1000 people.

7,000,000/1000*.211 = 1477

Perhaps the headlines should read, "Indonesian Poll Workers Markedly More Healthy Than General Population."
