Don't like chick flicks. Don't like chicks who like chick flicks. That said, there is nothing better than watching a woman's rainyday movie under a blanket with her on the couch. I am lucky enough to have been lifetime friends with my first sweetheart (over 50 yrs) and, next i visit her or she she visits me, we'll be under the covers watching "The Band Wagon" in first 24 hours together. Can't wait.

ETA: Don't consider love stories to be chick flicks unless engineered for females.

All these replies and no votes for My Best Friend's Wedding?  That's where it begins and ends for me, although I do see some posted above that I've enjoyed too.

1. Four Weddings and a Funeral

2. Love Actually

3. French Kiss (Kevin Kline, Meg Ryan, Jean Reno)

4. The Holiday (Kate Winslet, Jack Black, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law)

5. Say Anything

The Proposal

Pretty Woman

All About Steve

50 First Dates

Miss Congeniality

What about Legally Blonde and Sweet Home Alabama?

Just the first ones I could think of.

If any of these are on TV, I'll stop to watch them.  In no particular order...

The Proposal

10 Things I Hate About You

Pitch Perfect

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Save the Last Dance

Step Up (any of them)

Father of the Bride

Footloose

Sweet Home Alabama

Definitely Maybe is a really enjoyable movie.  Great fun.

I stumbled on to Serendipity last weekend on HBO or Starz.  Another good movie with a resonant message.  As a bonus, Kate Beckinsale was (and is, 18 years later) absolutely beautiful.

No particular order.

  • When Harry Met Sally
  • The Notebook
  • Pitch Perfect
  • Clueless
Those are a solid top 4, and I'd probably round that out with Pretty Woman.  Well, I might replace Clueless with "Before Sunrise".  Ok, and I'd likely replace The Notebook with the Glen Hansard movie "Once" (is that a chick flick?).  And I gotta have "Say Anything" in there somewhere.  Dang first world problems.

Ones that haven't been mentioned:

Never Been Kissed

Summer School

Roxanne

About Last Night

Working Girl

The Devil Wears Prada

Can't Buy Me Love

Overboard

Ever After

Mystic Pizza

Dave

High Fidelity

Crazy Rich Asians

Edit to add:  Isn't It Romantic -after seeing this with the wife I made this RomCom Spotify playlist - enjoy:

https://open.spotify.com/user/hov34/playlist/3eCG9zcZSuVKJe88s5yrmy?si=zVXjL9jaSkmhjDKBECiaJQ
I included RomComs on my list which are different that "chick flicks"  I think most men can somewhat enjoy a RomCom but have a hard time with chick flicks.

Ha, when we had a movie draft here years ago one of the categories was chick flick. There was much debate about Princess Bride being eligible for that category. High Fidelity was another one that was staunchly debated IIRC.

Shes all that

How to lose a guy in 10 days

Never Been Kissed

10 Things I hate about you

Drive me Crazy

I also like the one where Terry Bradshaw pays SJP to date his son. Cant remember the name of that one though

I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to watch reel after reel of empowering drivel

If it's got Julia Roberts in it, it's probably a chick flick.
In that case, The Mexican makes my list as does the remake of Ocean's Eleven.

Do all rom-coms count?  If so, There's Something About Mary is at the top of my list.  I'll throw in Coming to America and Boomerang to make a total of five.

Edit- I will replace Boomerang with True Romance.  So my 5 are

There's Something About Mary

True Romance

The Mexican

Coming to America

Ocean's Eleven (remake)
