***Official*** The Republicans Haven't Had Any New Ideas Since The Eighties But Dems Haven't Had a New One Since Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels (1 Viewer)

Well, Henry Wallace had more ideas to the benefit of our great nation than anyone this side of Jefferson and the Kennedys had a vision which i believe Bobby would have carried across the line better (and most importantly, cheaper) than Jack, but....

I've been an adult for 50 yrs and the Dems have only put across two significant ideas - Carter attempted to lead the world with honor instead of might (i can still hear the giggling) and Clinton thought if he gave the rich everything they wanted they would let him give the poor everything they wanted. Obama's only idea was that the world would be better off if he let people of color see one of their own look cool running things, which can only be achieved by doing nothing.

But  my adult self has yet to see a single administration not be ruinous to the American Miracle and greed is the reason for each. When i see ideas trump corruption, i'll start believing in them again. Aint holding my breath

Love you @rockaction but this continual meme of yours is wrong.

There are socialists among us who mean to do away with capitalism. AOC may very well be one of them. Bernie Sanders may very well be another. These people and their supporters call themselves Democrats. They’re certainly welcome to do so, and their support for Democratic policies and politicians is even more welcome. However they do not capture the spirt or main theme of the Democratic Party.

That main theme, ever since 1932, is to protect and improve capitalism by softening its rough edges. Thus, the New Deal, the Great Society, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare: these measures don’t seek to replace our free market; they buffer it and make it stronger.

If it isn't left to be solely a free market, it is, by definition, no longer a free market.  It may be some kind of quasi-free market, but it is no longer an actual free market.  Therefore, it is the free market replaced with something else.

free market's a unicorn, man. it's either rigged or regulated. or both

There are no new ideas. Everything worth thinking of has already been thought of. Time to shut the world down.
