I'm not sure how many guys on this forum are as good at the game of poker like I am, but I just wanted to make everyone aware that the 2019 World Series of Poker starts one week from today. And this year marks the 50th anniversary of the WSOP. I happen to be a good poker player when I'm not on this forum, and ironically, I kind of taught myself how to play Texas Hold 'Em, even though I've never been in any poker room of any casino ever. I do happen to be a part of the DeepStacks Poker League in the St. Louis area, though, which is one of the leagues that participate in the Bar Poker Open championship. Right now, I'm going to different bars and bowling alleys around St. Louis and playing No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em for free. If anyone is interested in playing poker at any bar or bowling alley in your area, just go to www.barpokeropen.com and look for the league that's closest to you where you live.
Now, back to the actual 2019 World Series of Poker. Last year, Shaun Deeb was named the WSOP Player of the Year. I'm not sure how much money the Main Event is supposed to pay out, but I truly believe that at least 8,000 will participate in the Main Event alone, which has a $10,000 buy-in.
The worst beat I ever suffered while playing Texas Hold 'Em was when i had a straight flush AND LOST to a higher straight flush.
If there is anyone out there who watches or plays poker as frequently as I do, I want to hear from you!
