Could Berrios be the next Humphries?:

The Patriots lost out on their pursuit of free-agent slot receiver Adam Humphries (Titans) despite a contract offer in the $9 million to $10 million per-year range, which has opened the door for 2018 sixth-round pick Braxton Berrios to possibly fill that role. Berrios, a shifty slot receiver at Miami who spent his rookie NFL season on injured reserve, caught my eye in four spring practices as one of the most improved players -- reliable catching the ball in tight windows, more decisive, and quicker and more fluid in his movements than he was last year, when he was fighting a muscle-related injury. Humphries likely would have been great for the Patriots, but with Berrios scheduled to earn a base salary of $495,000 in 2019, the club has a situation where a developing player at a fraction of the cost could ultimately fill part of the role they had targeted for Humphries. There is a long way to go, and Berrios has to prove he can stay on the field, but his development is a positive one for the club this spring. Berrios relayed to me that he's taking a "rookie mentality" to the year.

ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss expects Braxton Berrios to make the team out of training camp.

Berrios was stashed on injured reserve as a rookie, but now that he's been given a clean bill of health, the sophomore pass-catcher is hoping to land a spot in a wide-open Patriots receiving corps. Training camp doesn't open for another nine days, but Berrios has already been at the New England's facility for some time now. Reiss envisions Berrios filling a Danny Amendola-type role as a slot receiver while also working as a return specialist. The Patriots have plenty of questions to answer at receiver behind locked-in starters Julian Edelman and N'Keal Harry.

@Faust rename the thread!

Braxton Berrios caught 6-of-8 targets for 59 yards and a touchdown in the Jets' Week 2 loss to the 49ers.

Berrios scored the Jets' lone touchdown of the day but the toucomes of the game had been decided for over a quarter. He got behind the defense on a Sam Darnold scramble and Darnold hit him in stride for a score. That play may have been the single bright spot in an otherwise ugly showing from the Jets offense. Berrios could have some PPR value going forward as long as Jamison Crowder remains sidelined.

Are... are we going to start chasing Braxton Berrios? I ask because every year, it seems like there a point we have to start taking about Braxton Berrios.

Jets WR Braxton Berrios (hamstring) is questionable for Week 3 against the Colts.

Someone get Laverneus Coles on the phone. The Jets' receiver injury bug has infected Berrios, who caught a touchdown on eight targets last week against the Niners. If Berrios is inactive this week, Chris Hogan could stumble into considerable volume. We're not sure if that matters or not. Jets wideouts should be avoided outside of 20-team fantasy leagues.

Braxton Berrios caught all four of his targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in New York's Week 3 loss to the Colts.

Berrios was the lone bright spot for the Jets in an otherwise horrific performance, scoring the team's only touchdown after Sam Darnold bought time in the flats and found Berrios open in the right corner of the end zone. He also beat Xavier Rhodes for a 28-yard gain in the first quarter when the contest was still competitive. Berrios only received the opportunity because both Jamison Crowder (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (ankle) were scratched, making the former a longshot for a full-time role unless those two aren't able to heal in time for Thursday's tilt against Denver.

Kid has looked great the last couple weeks. The coach will turn back into a pumpkin once Crowder and Breshad return, but I think he makes a great dynasty stash if you got the roster space. I can see him surfacing as a starting slot receiver a year or two down the line. I recall that when he was drafted in NE the feeling was that he would be the eventual successor to Edelman (whose continued longevity may have made "Honey Nut" Berrios expendable).

Jets WR Braxton Berrios led the team with 33 pass routes in Week 3 against the Colts.

Berrios caught all four of his targets for 64 yards and a score in Week 3. He totaled four more routes than Chris Hogan, who resumed his targetless wind sprint duties for New York. If you lose a bet and have to start a Jets wideout in Week 4 against the Broncos, make sure it's Berrios.

Braxton Berrios caught 8-of-11 targets for 34 yards in the Jets' Week 8 loss to the Chiefs.

Don't run the per-route numbers there. With Breshad Perriman (concussion) and Jamison Crowder (groin) hopefully back for Week 9 against the Patriots, Berrios should return to DFS irrelevance.

3.1 yards per route... I had to round up to get that.

Berrios is going to be the last man standing for the Jets WR corp. Yes, horrible team, but somebody has to catch the ball.

And JAX is a good matchup.

For the truly desperate, but I know many are just that.

Leaning Treadwell over Berrios but what do I know.  Thanks Covid.

Lol. Debating the same two players. And leaning the same way.

Think JAX will be able to run and open up the passing lanes. And Shenault is out.

That's the clincher for me.  Jax should give Treadwell more opportunities to score...hopefully JRob won't get them all.

Also their aDOTs are pretty comical:

Treadwell: 11 yds.

Berrios: 5 yds.

Jets WR Braxton Berrios is seeking a $9 million per year contract.

The Jets want to re-sign Berrios but aren't expected to go that high. 26-year-old Berrios had a strong finish to 2021, scoring four touchdowns in the final three games, but there are questions whether he can hold up as a full-time receiver. Berrios, who had 43 career receptions going into the season, averaged six catches and 50 yards per game in the five weeks he played at least 50% of snaps. With Berrios unlikely to give a Jets discount, there's a good chance the All-Pro returner reaches free agency this offseason.

I think thats agent speak - I just cant see him getting $9M on the market nor from the Jets - Hes a great ST/gadget guy and can plug in at WR if needed but I dont see him as a FT WR.  Andre Robert signed a huge deal for a ST returner at $3M yr....I could see Berrios getting $5-6M as a premium for what he showed as a WR.  I think the JEts sign him for that but he may want to see if he can get more on the mkt.

Braxton Berrios caught 5-of-6 targets for 37 yards in the Jets' Week 1 loss to the Ravens.

Berrios, the forgotten man in the New York receiver rotation, served as a slot dump-off option for Joe Flacco, who threw 59 passes against Baltimore. It's tough to envision a scenario in which Berrios sees consistent looks while competing for targets with Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis, and Elijah Moore.

Braxton Berrios rushed two times for 27 yards in the Jets' Week 7 win over the Broncos, adding three receptions for 15 additional yards.

Even with Elijah Moore deactivated and Corey Davis down with a knee injury, Berrios could draw only four targets. There is neither floor nor ceiling for a role player like Berrios to find in what has become one of the league's most run-first teams. We would expect that to remain true even with Breece Hall (ACL) likely done for the year. Moore will also be back for Week 8 against the Patriots.

ESPN's Rich Cimini writes the Jets could release Braxton Berrios if he doesn't take a pay cut.

Berrios has an $8.2 million cap figure and the Jets are trying to find a way to accommodate a big quarterback upgrade. Releasing Berrios would save the Jets $5 million in cap space, and he was not exactly a necessary part of the offense in 2022 even if he still produced in his role.

Dolphins signed WR Braxton Berrios to a one-year contract.

Berrios was released from the Jets a year after giving him a two-year, $12 million deal. Signing with the Dolphins allows him to stay in the AFC East for the sixth straight season. Berrios projects for the slot role in Miami where he should help replace TE Mike Gesicki, who had a 10% target share in 2022.

Minimum real life value. Zero fantasy value.
Miami was very bad on kick returns in 2022, and Berrios has been good 2 years in a row. Also reduces the urge to use Cheetah or Waddle on returns. Cedric Wilson had one good return last year, it was in the playoffs vs BUF. There are rumors of Cedric having interest in a trade, possibly back to DAL for a late conditional pick ... but it would give Miami cap relief.

He wasn’t that good last year on KR/PR - unless you like fair catches. I like him. He’s a gamer. Sometimes I did think targets going to him at the expense of Wilson or Moore were a waste. He made some big plays in 2021 and I’m glad he got rewarded with a decent contract. All that and what I said was (mostly) true. He’s not bringing that much to a good NFL team and he won’t be worth a roster spot barring injuries in fantasy.

Braxton Berrios caught 3-of-5 targets for 42 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 1 win against the Chargers.

A 16-yard first half grab was the highlight of Berrios’ day. He operated as the Dolphins’ No. 3 wideout behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Berrios, a useful fantasy option when given a decent route share, would be interesting for fantasy purposes if Hill or Waddle miss time in 2023.
