NY Times to stop publishing Political Cartoons

The running joke when I commented over at Reason magazine was to make fun of the op-ed cartoonist relentlessly.

Not good enough to be a cartoonist, not thoughtful enough about politics to get in on the published essay.

The Times is actually ahead of the game on this; political cartoons are rarely funny, regardless of which side. 

Doonesbury by Trudeau, Zippy by Griffith, Bloom County by Breathed, and Non-Sequitur by Wiley were/are the best "front page" sociopolitical cartoons that existed/exist today. Those needed four panels.

I'm very much a cartoon page kind of guy, too. But political ones just are rarely funny, IMHO.
