Democratic Debates (1 Viewer)

We live in an oligarchy.  This country is polarized because of historic, staggering inequality.  People argue about it in a confrontational way because they are sick of watching their country burn.  Tired of seeing Trump/Sanders supporters characterized as 'divisive' because it makes them angry, and because they have the nerve to make the most inordinately powerful people in the world uncomfortable with their tweets.

Pete picked up some Klobuchar votes tonight

Warren stays in it but she's still running on fumes.

Bernie is doing fine if you like Bernie and the path is paved for him.

Biden actually had his best night, so along with Warren, he  stays alive but is running out of lifelines.

Wasn't impressed with Bloomberg unfortunately

Wonder who the cable pundits will say won this debate.  I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of 'bernie bro' or '3 house millionaire' narrative get more airtime than Bloomberg getting slaughtered on his NDAs.

Oh my god, she hates him.  The Pete/Amy hatership is one of the more fascinating and hilarious things in these debates
She’s used to being the smartest person in the room, and he’s smarter than her.

She’s jealous because Pete will won the gay vote, and her lesbian haircut won’t draw the same attention.

Wow, great stuff from Yang on CNN... said Bloomberg took trial balloon trips a year ago to New Hampshire and Iowa to see if he could relate to the voters... and he couldn't.  Decided not to run but recently changed his mind... might explain a lot

Here’s my best guess.

  • Biden underwhelms in South Carolina
  • Pete gets solid 3
  • Bernie wins and picks up major momentum
  • Biden gets pushed towards margins
  • All media guns get trained in Bernie at prospect of socialism
  • Media puts major gas behind Pete
  • Pete and Bernie have a slugfest
Agree with just about all of this.

He’d be a total afterthought without his unlimited budget.

He's also 78 years old. My 60 something parents have two houses and they're middle class at best. Compound interest and a steady (higher than average) income are neat.
He became a millionaire after signing a book deal after the '16 campaign.  It's frankly kind of amazing that it took him until his 70s to do it.

So If its Mike or Bernie, Its a third party. The Dems don’t have a candidate.
Bernie has long been a step away from the two-party system.  But you cant even partake if you don't have some connectivity to one of the two.

If you ever dreamed of having a 3rd (or 4th) party take root and be possible, Bernie is your vote.

Brian Williams pressing Biden on his son. No one else brought it up tonight during the debate.

Next "debate" why not just have a fist fight.    This is so silly.  Everyone talking over everyone else.   "You said this!"  "No I didn't!"  oof.
