So happy y'all didnt have to deal with a Rozier-led team. Good supporting player, tho. 

Great to see Devonte explode on the scene. Maybe teams will start paying attention to 4-yr college point guards and maybe young PGs like those two awful lost kids in Cleveland will stay in school a minute instead of flailing in the bigs, learning every bad habit in the book.

veteran 3rd guard for the pistons in my youth. that game, i believe, was the historic 186-184 game against the alex english-kiki V. nuggets.

You know what, I agree with you borracho.  Let it be the Clippers that beat the Lakers in the West Finals, then have the good LA take on your Bucks and let's just take that one to the bank.

 
no matter what i hope that this is the year that the nba finally has a fireside chat with none other than our own a a ron rudnarski as the finals halftime that would be so sweet even roadies who have seen it all would stop and say ohhellyeah thats sweet take that to the bank bromigos

Ugh, I hate Stephens. He is one of those guys when he is interviewed that is impossible to dislike. Smart and gives a good impression of the game almost every time. I want him to be more of a dope when he is interviewed, but the guy is clear headed and fair. 

and these officials are pretty horrendous. Almost as bad as Chris Webber as an announcer

 
Al Horford's smile as the Sixers are winning this game is pretty priceless. I feel kind of bad for Theis, was messed up for the Celtics to put him in a position to try and dunk with Embiid at the basket. 

 
I came away from that 76ers/Celtics game wondering if Ingram is turning out to be a better player than Simmons. Siakam appears to be the steal of that draft at pick 27.

 
Rajon Rondo gets called for a travel on a show & go move, but Tyler Herro can slide on his butt from the right side of the key to the left side and it's A-OK. Got it.

 
somebody explain why the hack-a-ben makes sense.

sixers' offensive rating is 110.24.  That seems to me to translate to expected points per possession of 1.10.

Simmons shoots 58% from the line.  That makes it 1.16 expected points per possession right?

i guess there's an additional value to just stopping the clock?  and/or teams like the pelicans with no inside presence can't stop the sixers in a situation like this?

 
Not a bad stat line for Harden tonight. 54 points on 19 of 31 shooting, including 10-15 from 3. Also threw in two steals and three blocks along with a game high 7 assists. Only attempted 6 free throws and made all six.

Look up the rule.  Sliding on the floor is not a travel, only when a player tries to turn over while on the ground.  You can slide from one end of the court to the other on the ground and it isn't a violation.  One of the most misunderstood rules in all of basketball.

 
FWIW I am also not following the league closely at all these season, like the title says. Not sure why. I think it's a combo of a lot of things, some personal (Wiz suck and changed broadcasters, eg) and some related to the overall product.

Hoping the next ten days will be a turning point, though. I've already made a mental note to carve out time on Thursday for Bucks-Lakers, and then of course there's Xmas.  Time to dig back in.

ESPN Xmas commercial sucks though. I've seen it countless times and all I've learned is that LeBron's team is playing and that people like ham. I probably could have figured those things out without a commercial. Had to look up the matchups and schedule myself to sort it out.

you are in line with the rest of the watchers.

i think that it is probably a combination of the offseason being so crazy and so much more interesting than the regular season, that people are just burnt out and can't get revved up again.  I also imagine that many realize that the regular season is not that important, and this year that's as true as ever, as the top 5 or 6 teams largely are looking to just be in the best health come playoff time.  You would think that people would want to see how these new teams are looking, but it really means so little.  The playoffs should be fascinating, though, and the playoff race may be a little more interesting with some of the teams who are trying to jump up in the West.

yeah, kind of agree. Just seems to not be much excitement out of a few teams. maybe it is overexposure, but i think your point about being burnt out is probably the closest to the top.

my guess is after the NFl regular season there will be a little bit of interest creeping in. it's a long season for the players, so the fanbases have to feel somewhat the same way

 
My NBA consumption has been way, way down this season as well, but I think that has more to do with my frustration with my particular team rather than any issue I have with the league. 

 
I've been watching more this season than in the past 5 seasons. The Lakers and Clippers being really good is the primary reason.

 
I need to somehow condition myself to permanently give up on the Wolves. This team is absolutely brutal to watch. They’re a train wreck on both sides of the ball. Maybe they will do another 20 year rebuild. Need to hire someone to punch me the face whenever I look up Wolves content

I’ve been telling myself that for years with the Kings. The combo of not only regression this year in terms of wins and losses, but going from being one of the most fun, up tempo styles to an ugly, slow, grind it out team with Walton may have finally broken me. We’ll see if it sticks.

Bucks lose at home to Mavs sans Doncic.  They were without Bledsoe, but Middleton was ineffective all night.

If KP gets it going like he did tonight, Dallas could become a dark horse threat in the West....really the way Luka has been playing, they already are right there.

Same here.  Lakes plus luka and giannis are worth tuning into on any given night.  Zion being out has been a bummer though.

I’ll get in line come January. It’s just too much season to care right now. They need to gotten that schedule. 

 
The Heat with 2 of the top 10 candidates for rookie of the year in Nunn and Herro. And rookie Chris Silva who provides good backup minutes as a rebounder. Duncan Robinson is almost a rookie. In last night's close win over the 76ers, Nunn was +19 and Tyler was +4.

heat's deep 3 game seemed hard for the Sixers who usually prioritize stopping 3s, despite all starters finally playing together.

Can't blame the kid ... but the Pelicans have gone from being "totally saved!" in the summer to "bags packed to leave N.O." today.

Well, not quite "bags packed" -- Gayle Benson is a determined lady. I read yesterday that she -- and she alone -- is keeping Alvin Gentry in New Orleans. Maybe she thinks stubbornly sticking with a coach for "too long", kinda like Sean Payton**, is just what you gotta do. I really don't know.

Meanwhile, you can practically walk into the Smoother King Center for free at game time. Place is half-full. The city will not spend money on a bad basketball team -- potential be damned.
 

** Sean Payton could've fairly gotten fired after the three 7-9/8-8 seasons 2014-16. Since then, Jeff Ireland has run the drafts and FAs and Payton has brought the team back. 

 
- don't think we'll be seeing Zion this season.....hope we don't see Gentry, and the enthusiastic purposelessness he brings to the floor scheme, next season. I know the LA kids keep getting better & their teams keep getting worse, but i gotta think a Stevens, Carlisle or Spoelstra could have these kids clickin'.

- speaking of the Miami coach, there are few current NBA-watching pleasures better than watching coaching/concept thrashing talent like last night. Though Steve Kerr is proving that coaching without talent is a worthless endeavor, It's such a greater pleasure watching the few teams who know why they are on the floor better than their opponents. This is easily the least-coached season i've seen in almost 60 years as a fan, and i'm afraid my lagging viewership wont pick up after football's over this time.

Worries me a lot that he's this broken down at 19. Has anyone ever been this injury-prone so young and come back to be an elite NBA player? People were saying Blake Griffin and Joel Embiid, but were their knees shot as teens?
