Daniel Craig's replacement to be introduced in new Bond Movie (1 Viewer)

lol

if you think James Bond was written to be played by a black woman, you cray cray .......... Laura Craft wasn't written to be a man, Anne of Green Gables wasn't written to be a man, Tom Sawyer wasn't written to be a woman, ... the list goes on and on and on
Original 007 was written as a dude, the next one is written as a chick. 007 is a spy, women can be spies.

Laura Craft is a female fictional character. It wouldn't make sense to have a guy written as the next Laura Craft. Maybe they do her brother and call it Jeff Craft?

This isn't that hard.

They are banking it's a 007 franchise - because MI6, British, blah, blah.

We'll see if it works.

It may not work in certain parts of the world (that are less about equality than they think). It also may not work if the movie sucks (think A view to a kill/Moonraker)

It's the James Bond franchise, not the 007 franchise.  If you remove Bond, you're firmly in spinoff territory, which is fine potentially.  Some spinoffs work and some don't.

But this is all just academic because the new lead probably isn't going to be female anyway.  It's going to be a new actor playing Bond.

You don't think they could retcon a story where 007 is passed on to another person?

No, not the character of Laura Croft being played by a man, but what about a movie titled Tomb Raider with a male leading role?
were there no female double O's in the movies ?   why reprise 007 ?

don't change it from Laura Croft - CHANGE Laura Croft from female to man .... that's what they're doing with OO7

write the next Laura Croft as a man then -this isn't that hard

James Bond 007 isn't a woman - this isn't hard

Laura Craft the character was replaced in the latest movie. A new actress played Laura Craft. She remained Laura Craft the character. STAY WITH ME.

007 is a title given to a fictional spy. There could be Bob Humerdink as the next 007. It appears they decided to write the new character as a woman, probably because they think it will make cash and generate interest (and to irritate forum people). Or this could all be BS to generate buzz about the movie. Who knows?

Reading about Bond a little  :nerd:  I discovered that another "00" was replaced by a woman :GASP:

In "Devil May Care", Bond girl Scarlett Papava is unveiled as 004, replacing the previous agent who was killed in Berlin.

This (casting non-whites in traditionally white roles) is the same sort of thing they did in Hamilton, and look how that turned out.

Perfect way to introduce the new actor to the public.  "Well at least it wasn't a chick".

Yup. This definitely feels like "let's get some free pub" type thing.
