This board really has changed (1 Viewer)

Agree. It was odd that Joe would lock his “anti ‘owner’ term” thread, and delete my posts pointing out that he referred to himself as the “owner” of FBG in many places online.

That seemed:

1) Contextually relevant to his concern about the use of the term owner

2) A bit dishonest

I don’t think Joe of 10 years ago would have done that.

For what it's worth our company switched from "Owner" to "Client" 7 or 8 years ago when we refer to the agencies we have contracts with.  No body gets bent out of shape when someone uses the old term during daily discussions though.

I thought you were pretty aggressive going after him in that thread- it took me by surprise. I thought you and Joe were cool. It was harsh imo.

If a company has a contract with an agency---I'm not sure that it means that the company "owns" that agency.   In your case--it seems like the word "client"  might just be the more accurate term

I belong to  union and remember when unions used to be unmercifully bashed here, now we are rising again with the socialist dems and supported here too.

The agencies "own" the projects we build for them.  They pay for it, we build it, they own it.  They are our "Client".

In the past couple of weeks I've seen Sheik get suspended and one of Joe Bryant's threads get locked.

No one is safe anymore.  :(

Thanks Sheik.

As I said yesterday, I put that thread of it's (my :bag:  ) misery as it was going too far off the rails. @[icon] I apologize if something was inadvertently deleted. There was a lot that was being deleted I know that was way over the line and your post may have been caught in that. Certainly you asking about my owning Footballguys is fine. Of course I do. I would have hoped you knew me better than to think I was "dishonest".

The truth is we have changed some. We used to have Russian Bride Drafts here. The Hottest Girl stuff is not here anymore. I think those are positive changes but I fully understand not everyone agrees with me. Plus a lot of us are old timers. We've no doubt changed over the years.

The big thing from reading the thread yesterday was I want to apologize for sounding judgmental or condemning or lecturing. I tried to state why I was doing something and thought it was interesting Stephen A Smith disagreed. It's not something I'm especially passionate about. And it's not something we stick to across the board. Then I asked for your opinion. I hope it didn't come across as me trying to tell you what to do or what to think. But I can see how it could have been seen that way. That's on me. I'm sorry.

As I've said to many, thanks for being part of the board. For better or for worse, this board is us.

I just want to point out this thread was meant to be more of a joke because I thought it was funny you locked your own thread.  I wasn't trying to make a statement or anything, GB.  As soon as I saw people start talking about what was going on in that thread, I knew I had made a mistake and bowed out of this thread.

Honestly, I was 100% going for the joke here.  I've stated for 15 years that I like how you run this board.

:hifive:  That's how I saw it too. No worries.

I thought that as well.  More about  :deadhorse: than anything else

I still get a couple 24 hour timeouts a year like I always have.  Same ole same ole.

I guess I never learn.

Damn, you just used crotch in a post! A banning is coming!
NE was trying to make a funny. See, you probably haven't posting here long because you probably have a real job unlike those of us who spend all day reading/posting, but we used to be able to have "Who's Hottest" polls and such, and now everybody has gone all PC, so much so that you can't even say "crotch" in this place anymore.

When I first read the title of this thread I thought it was about the proliferation of all the political threads. It's gotten so bad the owners may have to change the name of the website to Politicguys (with a little bit of football talk sprinkled in)

It's weird that Joe makes a show of "being around" more now, but, really just starts random threads for whatever thought has recently gone through his head 'to stimulate discussion', doesn't really participate, then shuts them down when 'they've been discussed enough'. Way to foster an open community you're trying to look like a part of.

Dude's a weird fellow.
Kind of an odd take.  While I don't always love the topics, I do appreciate that he tries to foster new conversations.  I'm probably overlooking some things, but what are the last thread topics you've created?

Wait.  You can get a 24 hour timeout?  Wow.  I got a full week on my first and only one.

Yes, a week was short for me.
What's sad is, I meant to type "...you're being an idiot", but in my haste typed "...you're an idiot."  Not sure how much it would have mattered, but I might be the first person on this board to get a timeout because of a grammatical error.     Water under the bridge and I'm not complaining.  I just brought it up because I thought it was funny.  If you go back and read what I wrote, it makes much more sense if you have the word 'being' in there.

That 'being' might have at least shaved 6 days off the timeout, now that I know about this 24 hour timeout thingy. Thanks a lot, Trump.

Yea, my 24 hours are usually getting into off topic back and forths.  I may or may not be guilty of some light trolling.

Yeah, he deleted a few of my posts before locking it, too.

This is nothing like that.

I suppose there's always something that could change but I don't anticipate much moving from the current state of the board.

We had two big changes in the last couple of years with the Political Threads removed from the FFA and moved to their own forum and the not allowing the who's hottest / hot pics / yoga pants with the commentary threads. But that was a while ago.

The Political Forum is still kind of rowdy but that's why we keep them "over there". Things seem like they've settled into being pretty "regular" here for a while and I don't anticipate any new changes unless you guys know something I don't know. Entirely possible.

Bottom line - I don't see much changing in the FFA for what it's been the last year or so. You may see that as a good thing or a bad thing. But I think that's pretty much what we have here.
