Quit accusing everyone of racism, xenophobia, naziism(?), and on and on (1 Viewer)

Here ya go again, Saints, trying to piss up the same rope.

I love ya man, but your keyboard is taking a beating it just doesn't deserve.

Good Lord, the hills people die on.  Defending the indefensible, and for what?  Is it that hard to admit that a racist statement is racist?  Is it that much of a stretch to say someone who had unapologetically been making publicly racist statements for decades is a racist?

"You don't know him personally".  "He meant nationality instead of race".  Give me a break.  You guys know, deep down, that these statements were racist...you have to.  You just do.
I mostly agree.  At the very least, Trump's tweet the other day was highly offensive (and I have no love for AOC or Omar; don't know much about the other two), and I agree that that is an odd hill for Trump supporters to die on.

That's exactly how I feel about the tweet.

I just don't want the 'R' word used when it doesn't apply.

In the post I referred to, it wasn't used correctly.

Negative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full!

Sorry, had to

Your position is obviously that American nationality is predicated on loyalty to Trump.
No, Anti-semitism and not acknowledging terrorists puts one in particular in despicable human category.  Very telling that Dems are not condoning her behavior but faux outrage anything Trump says.

The distinction you made above is that while Trump's own grandparents preferred an authoritarian, antisemitic monarchy to America, one of these women insulted Trump.

When Omar made her possibly anti-Semitic comments she was condemned by a majority of Democrats. Her “somebody did something” statement, in context, wasn’t worthy of condemnation IMO. Hopefully you read the Reason article I posted earlier.

I can tell you that you obviously know a lot more about Trump's family heritage than I do.
Exactly. You also claim that Trump has a problem with socialism, but he personally did business with the Soviet politburo in 1987 to try to build a hotel in what Reagan then called the Evil Empire, he allowed his own children to spend parts of their childhoods in communist Czechoslovakia, and again a communist party member currently helps raise his own son.

Do you think this man really cares a damn about socialism?

Dana Perino of Fox News complained about someone repeating Trumps "grab 'em by the #####" line on TV.  But she never admonished Trump for saying the actual line. She literally complained that the repeater was on TV and when Trump said it he wasn't on TV -- even though he was being interviewed by a TV show at the time he said it.

A lot like this thread.

Trump was also once a Democrat

When Omar made her possibly anti-Semitic comments she was condemned by a majority of Democrats.
Yet the resolution the Democrats passed on the heels of Omar’s statement never mentioned Omar and focused far more on Right-wing white nationalism and Islamophobia than it did Left-wing anti-Semitism.

With that said, I didn’t think Omar’s queries warranted a resolution in the first place.

I had a problem with the criticism  and as a Jew I’m pretty sensitive to anti-Semitism from both left and right.

I don’t think she’s an anti-Semite. But I find her views on Israel to be simplistic, radical, and wrong.

I imagine he deletes, contradicts, backtracks, and otherwise makes his "official" statements hard to keep track of.

Must be exhausting even from what little I pick up on while not having access to twitter.

Crosseyed used to do that in the old religious threads.. drove me nuts.  Wish I had Congress there to have my back on internet posting.

I believe they ruled on him deleting them before as well.

If awful tweets are the benchmark, I expect Congress to be busy from here on out.
True, but there’s no chance they’d attack awful Tweets equally.

For instance, one of the Squad members currently criticizing Trump for racist Tweets, Ayanna Pressley, issued one herself last week, and it was applauded by many of the people now condemning racist Tweets.

Here

For those unfamiliar with the term “Becky”, it’s a derisive term used to describe a typical white woman in a negative manner.  It would be the equivalent of Kellyanne Conway calling Ayanna Pressley “LaQuisha”.

:lmao:

If we have come to this, it is yet further demonstration of how far down the toilet our discourse has gone.

I googled it to make sure.. it was hard to believe.  Twitter messages are official, I'll be damned.

Trump was also once a Democrat
A NYC Democrat, and he obviously doesn't give 2 damns about big government. So his claims about his caring about socialism are lies and his claims about Dems hating America are lies.

Further up you mention terrorism, apparently Trump can't even spell "Al Qaeda." same thing over and over again. I'd even agree that he doesn't care about race or racism, what matters to him is what twists the base into ever higher exultation.

I think the safe, best answer is it doesn't matter what Trump believes in, it doesn't matter what lies or calumnies he tells, it doesn't matter what principles have to be sacrificed, what matters is power and gaining what you can from it. Everybody from Lindsay Graham to Paul Ryan to Mitch McConnell have played this game as have his supporters. But I think what Trump really gets out of it is the enjoyment of seeing people spin on his words and actions like this, I think that's what he gets out of it. He sees discord as power and for him it's a drug.

Yes. They likely treat that differently than that of President.

It's astonishing that you would even start this thread , not knowing what Trump has been tweeting for the past decade.
Is there a shortage of media outlets reporting on Trump’s Tweets or people sharing them online?

I’m not on Twitter either, but I feel like I have a pretty strong grasp on Trump’s Tweets.

OK, but then why have Congressional resolutions to admonish other Representatives like Ilhan Omar And Steve King for their racially-tinged statements, but not even a negative word to Pressley for her’s?  They’re all Representatives.  Is it perhaps not the President vs. Rep distinction you referenced, but rather a differing standard as to which racially-tinged negative commentary we deem acceptable?

I can’t believe people wanna waste their time watching Nixon and that Kennedy fellow jibber jabber on that pitcher wireless.  Back in my day we went down to the train depot and listened to Alton Bygod Parker scream himself hoarse off the back of caboose.

Let's not set the bar at urbandictionary.com.
We’re not.  We’re setting the bar at reality while you make excuses for a member of Congress intending to demean a member of the President’s Administration with a known racial epithet.  You’re proving my point about how people apply different standards based on who is hurling the racial abuse and who is receiving it.

But I’m a fair guy so I’ll give you a chance to explain how Pressley wasn’t using that term in either a racial or derisive manner.  Floor’s your’s.

I don’t think it’s racist:

Reminds me of the term “Jewish American Princess”- also derisive, but not anti-Semitic IMO.
