Trouble Using Own Projections with DD Classic/Online DD/PD

Recommended Posts

Hi!  I've been a FBG member since the very beginning.  I’m a statistician by trade.

I finally decided to give the DD a try, after a decade of dismissing it and drafting with my outmoded Excel spreadsheets.

I figured the experience would be a revelation.  I love some of the ideas the program purports to implement.  In actuality, though, I’ve been disappointed so far.

I’ve had a heck of a time trying to get the Online Draft Dominator to accept and play nicely with my own projections.  It actually seems as if FBG doesn't want to allow users to use their own projections in conjunction with DD.

I thought for sure that I'd be able to enter my own player projections into text boxes within the application (adjusting projections like yards, touchdowns, games played, etc).  When it became clear that this wasn't an available option in the Online DD, I downloaded the Projections Dominator, assuming that it could interface with DD and allow me to import my own projections.

The Online DD doesn't seem like it can accept files at all, nor can it create files useful for the PD.  So then I thought about downloading the Classic DD, but it seems intuitively silly that I'd have to use an antiquated program to achieve the simple feat of using my own player projections.  (I’m not even sure if the Classic DD possesses this capability, anyway).

I looked around to see if I might find support in the FBG forums, but they've closed every sub forum which deals with these apps.  Instead - if users dig deeply enough to find the link - we are redirected to this website: sportsguys.zendesk.com.  As far as I can tell - there really isn't a ton of information here, or at least no information addressing the topics plaguing me specifically (and probably other FBG members as well).

So finally, I gave up and accepted that I'd just have to adjust each and every player using the annoyingly sensitive Points and Upside Points sliders (why not text boxes?) available directly within the app.  To my dismay, after I spent hours creating my custom projections sets, I noticed that the app still overrode my projections and shifted most of the upside numbers slightly, for some reason unknown to me.  If I go back in and correct one of the wrong numbers, sometimes the app accepts the change, and other times it still makes small adjustments to the number I entered.  I haven't identified a rhyme or reason as to when or why it does this.

I definitely don't mean to come off as huffy, but my draft is less than a week away, and I'm pulling my hair out trying to use the DD, which - in theory - should be the coolest draft app on the planet.  So far, I haven’t been able to make it work well enough to be the game-changer I hoped for.  Do I need to use the Classic version of the program?  Am I missing something?  Any input or advice you might provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

I am not aware that you can import your own projections into the Mobile/Online version of DD.

You can go into PD and set your own projections (https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/topic/249781-projections-dominator-master-thread/) and then import those into Classic DD.

Or you can use the VDP Excel sheet and do the same and also your own notes.  I think this is more toward what you want to do:  https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/topic/163148-using-the-dd-and-the-vbd/

There are a couple of us old timers around here who still rely on the customization available with Classic DD.

Good luck!
