The ***OFFICIAL*** 2019 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread (1 Viewer)

Losing Tuitt sucks.  I'm more sorry for him than I am for the team.  He was starting to blossom and show his real potential this year.  Now he's done.  I don't think they're going anywhere this year, but it sure is becoming fun watching this defense turn it around, Tuitt being one of the big factors.  If only they can stop the opposing teams across the middle patterns to their TE...

I never understood why Rogers gets such a bad rep.  He played well for the Steelers.  Much better than Switz has.  I don't understand why he had his playing time reduced and ultimately let go.  Had to be something internal.

You want a 6 yd pick up on third down?  He was there.  Need a completion over the middle.  He had plenty of those.

I just don't understand it.  He was a very serviceable/good 3rd WR option while he was here.

Switz is the same player, they just haven't been calling the plays.  He'll catch every slant you throw to him (as will Eli).  Neither one does much on the bubble screen, so stop calling it.

Switz, is, at worst, the 3rd worst WR currently on our roster.

I don't understand this either.  I realize Switz is the pits but there I would think there is someone more compelling than Eli on a practice squad somewhere.
I'd rather give Quadree Henderson another shot--at least he has a chance of breaking a return.

expecting to be in Pgh next weekend.  Would you guys expect PHI-BUF to be your Fox game out of this slate?

Seattle @ Atlanta

 LA Chargers @ Chicago

 NY Giants @ Detroit

 Philadelphia @ Buffalo

 Tampa Bay @ Tennessee

 Carolina @ San Francisco (LATE)

Do you have usual NFC market?  It seems like going a bit of East of Pittsburgh is fairly consistent Eagles, but in Pgh proper is highly variable.

Steelers LB Anthony Chickillo was arrested Sunday morning on charges of simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief.

Chickillo's arrest occurred Sunday morning at 1:40 AM local time at the Lady Luck Casino in Farmington, Pennsylvania. Police allege the Steelers linebacker got into a heated argument with his girlfriend (who was cited for harassment), resulting in a physical altercation in their hotel room. Chickillo was arraigned shortly after and released on $10,000 bail. "We are aware of an incident involving Anthony Chickillo last night and are still gathering information," Steelers Director of Communications Burt Lauten said in a statement. "Until we have further details we will not provide any further comments." The Steelers were on bye this week.

Typically Pittsburgh will get Dallas but since they aren't playing I would bet the Eagles - Bills game would be shown.

Supposedly he just pushed her away but even still what a knucklehead.  I'm 60 years old and have managed to avoid physically assaulting a woman.  It isn't that hard of a thing to do.

I hope so!    It looks like Mason Rudolph, Steven Nelson, James Washington and Rosie Nix were back in practice today so it seems we're at least getting healthier.

Win or not - the line opened at 14.5     thats way too high and I still wont bet this game

Fitzpatrick had a tremendous game against the Bills. He made quick decisions, bought time in the pocket when it broke down and make good throws even when under duress. But the Bills didn't blitz often - had success when they did - I expect the Steelers to blitz and put pressure on Fitzpatrick. I'm trying to pick up the Steeler defense for this game and ROS. They know how to get sacks.

I really hope they open up the downfield passing game a bit against Miami.  If they baby Rudolph in this game I will be a bit concerned.  You can win this game even with a few mistakes, let your QB get confidence or at the very least get a look what you (don't) have.

I would like that if they have a comfortable lead at any point.  But the Steelers just need to win.  I suspect the game plan will be more of the same where they limit turnovers and rely on defense to carry them.

If Skipper was good enough to make the 53 out of camp, why wouldn’t they put him there now?  Maybe they are waiting to make sure Rudolph is OK before the release Lynch and then sign him? But you would think they would PS him first so that he is practicing for this week?  With watt banged up too, they need an extra OLB.

Bloom said he wishes Devlin Hodges was the starting QB instead of Rudolph. I agree based on what we've seen from Rudolph and Hodges so far.

Hodges doesn't look amazing, but he looks more likely to turn into a Minshew type than Rudolph does that this point.

Can anyone remember a QB who looked as lost and uncomfortable in the pocket as Mason turning that around?  It's really his pocket presence/awareness that concerns me the most.

I feel better with Mason back there.  He's 4" taller, has the stronger arm and knows the offense better.   I trust the coaches that know more than me and see these guys in practice every day to start the player that gives the team the better chance to win.  Duck was a good story but you got to go with the better player IMO.

Bloom reiterated it again and I agree... I'd rather see Hodges.  Love yah Bloom.

Does Rudolph have a stronger arm?  His combine numbers are quite a bit below average.  Probably 25th percentile off the top of my head.

Hodges didn't throw at the combine so it's hard to compare that metric, but scouting reports are pretty consensus on average arm strength.

Let's see how Rudolph looks this week.  If they have to dumb it down and baby him against Miami I will be concerned.

The offense was dumbed down for Hodges as well.  I like Duck and thought he did a nice job filling in but 80 of his 130 passing yards were dump offs to the RBs.

Monday Night.  At Home.  Following a bye.  In their color rush uniforms.  Against Miami.

Pretty much everything going for us.  This had better be a decisive victory.
Let Rudolph loose to build some confidence and give something else that future opponents need to prep for.

Nah. Tomlin and the Steelers have a good record on MNF, they should win going away unless something crazy happens like tons of turnovers.
Yeah i don't know what to expect from the Steelers this season. It wouldn't surprise me.

I expect that we'll get Miami's very best effort.  The Dolphin players have been savoring this chance to win a game against a beatable opponent on a national stage.  It would provide a reprieve from the tanking jokes (at least for a little while).  Steelers better not be looking past the Dolphins.

All that being considered, I think Diontae Johnson makes a name for himself tonight.

I don't think the Steelers are losing but if I was close to a sports book I would definitely take the Dolphins and the points.   We generally haven't had that one or two games where they play down to the level of their opponent.  Mostly because they have been the dogs.  Not the case tonight.

Get the lead and make the clock run.  Expect good things for Conner, but Rudolph still doesn’t throw downfield.  Defense playing well.  Going with under.

He still throws to many "tosses" to a general area that are 5 yards off the mark.  When he steps into the throw and then rips it and zips it its so much better.

He could have had 3 of 4 ints pretty easy tonight.
Yeah I wish he would just step into the throws.  How many times was he throwing off his back foot tonight?  I mean I guess we need to cut him a little slack - it's his 3rd start in the NFL and coming off a concussion?  But I don't get the vibe that this guy is the future.  Regardless, the defense is awesome and I'm coming around on that Minkah trade.  It's so refreshing to have a d back who can catch the damn ball!

Steelers could be in trouble at RB next week.  Conner’s arm in a sling, Snell left the game early and Samuels was inactive.
