Dershowitz is actually doubling down. It’s unbelievable. And this time it’s an even worse argument.

I really wish someone would bring up how he said Trump would be a corrupt POTUS back in 2016.

According to Dershowitz, if Trump is taking his action to defeat Joe Biden, then that’s in the public interest because Joe Biden might be corrupt. You can’t impeach Trump over this because he’s looking out for the rest of us, otherwise Biden might be elected.

We, the people, are all losers here.  The Senate is codifying an imperial presidency that is beyond the reach of checks on its power. That is a shameful dereliction of their duties.

No. That’s preordained. We won’t find out until November.

I think tomorrow he’s gonna throw out the argument that QAnon might be true and we can’t remove Trump because he plays an important role.

I have some Cherokee ancestry, so that second one is not great for me.

Joe Biden should say, “My son does not deserve to be dragged through the mud because Trump fears me.  I am running for POTUS.  I welcome the interrogation.  My son is not in this arena unlike Trumps kids.  I will testify before the Senate if that will put an end to this nonsense.  I have nothing to hide.  I will do so after Donald Trump testifies.”

This is how Biden should address this issue.  Go on the offensive.  Nothing to lose because Trump will never testify.  Makes Trump look like the weak one hiding.

I wonder how all the Republicans like Dershowitz’s argument when they realize it would have given Obama justification for ordering an investigation into Trump just because he might become President.

It’s amusing that you think anyone other than President Trump and the GOP is the loser in this affair.

Havent you seen all the flattering portrayals of Nixon and Mccarthey the last 50 years?

Pretty much over. They will end this attempted coup sometime between tomorrow and Saturday. Trump will be able to give the state of the union with those schmucks stewing in their seats, deservedly so.

Jeez mang. Can you dial it down a notch or twenty?

He's just trying to elicit reactions. He uses coup like Rush, Levin and Hannity.  Very amusing.

The furthest you can get with a Trumpists when u swat away all their nonsense is that, “they all do it.  Dont be naive.  Get over it.”  Without a hint of irony regarding drain the swamp.

The party that cried wolf for the past decade did so to immunize us to wolves.

So now that Dershowitz says a President can do everything he wants because his personal interests are the public interest, where does it become unacceptable?  Is it now acceptable to directly and openly coordinate with Russia to run a disinformation campaign to smear a political rival?

Yep, we’re done here.

Adam Schiff doubts John Bolton's credibility on MSNBC: "This is someone who's likely to exaggerate the dangerous impulses of the president toward belligerence, his proclivity to act without thinking, and his love of conspiracy theories"(March 2018)

Adam Schiff said something negative about Bolton that he doesn’t understand and instead thinks it’s about testimony? Or does understand and knows it’s actually then amazing if Bolton thinks he went too far?

Yup. Unreal.  I consider Dershowitz’s comments to be borderline treasonous.

I would argue there isn't anything borderline about it. Arguing for the power of the Presidency to be like that of a king or dictator is pretty fundamentally opposed to the basic beliefs of our country.

New York Times is reporting that Republicans are now extremely confident they will have 51 votes to reject witnesses. McConnell had a private meeting with Murkowski and strong armed her. Alexander is mum.

Collins and Romney will be the only Republicans to vote for witnesses but I don’t give them much credit for it- I think Collins in particular is only doing it because she already knows the vote will fail- McConnell basically gave her permission. Romney wants to look all mavericky but if this was an actual vote deciding anything he’d fold.

So no witnesses and a quick acquittal. That was the first part of my prediction, the easy part.

The more important part of my prediction, the hard part, is that the public remembers this going into November, and the initial celebratory mood Republicans feel this weekend will dissipate into uneasiness as they know they allowed this guy to get away with it. And a lot of them will stay home. But we’ll see.

For witnesses? All Democrats will vote for witnesses.

For acquittal? None on the first article. Maybe one or two on the second.

Sure:

Quote

John Bolton is a patriot and may know that I held back the money from Ukraine because it is considered a corrupt country, & I wanted to know why nearby European countries weren’t putting up money also.

Donald Trump

Feels great to have Bolton & Larry K on board.

I think John Bolton's a good man. I watched him yesterday, actually, and he was very good in defending me in some of my views, and very, very strong. And I've always liked John Bolton.

Anyhow I predicted it but it’s still infuriating. They’re letting him get away with it. They’re not even allowing witnesses. The United States Senate. They’ve dishonored themselves.

But between acquittal and November, our dear leader will be able to marshall the forces of Russia, China, you name it, to help him win the election. No need for covert action, he’ll have a blank check. I don’t know how to quantify the effect of whatever kind of election assistance he’s going to be able to muster but it might be enough to swing some key states. Free and fair elections? That’s so quaint.
