November 1st - You know what that means! (1 Viewer)

SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
Today is the day we start to be bombarded with Christmas commercials and songs.  I've watched about an hour worth of TV today and already seen about 10 Christmas commercials.

I don’t get into the Christmas season until after Thanksgiving. Just feels like you’d get Santa burnout by the time the holiday actually arrives. Ehh.

I understand that and to each his own.  But after Thanksgiving, there's only like 3 weeks left.  I need my Little Drummer Boy fix in November.

It is actually World Vegan Day.

(or National Men Make Dinner Day--which is celebrated every day in my house)

My extended family came to an agreement to stop holiday gifting expressly because of commercialism. 4-5 Xmases ago, my auntie told a tale of some kind of Christmisanthropy she ran up against - if i remember, it had something to do with someone she knew losing a long-held job because she campaigned against employer going from Black Friday to Black Thanksgiving - and we just looked at each other, shrugged and made a family resolution. When me Ma mentioned it to me Da's side of the fam the next year, they went the same way. Grandkids, too - none complained once we explained.

After having to feign excitement over various Halloween activities for my wife, this am she says, "we get to decorate for Christmas soon."

At least give me 24 hours between holidays to be a grump for godssake.

It’s actually Blade Runner month.

The Walmart here in town had Christmas trees out the last week of September. I've been listening to Christmas music for a few weeks already anyway.

Like no busting a nut for the month or not eating nuts for the month?

What do you think?
The prostate cancer prevention people must be up in arms over this.  Studies have shown that men who uh, expel teh juice at least 21 times a month have shown significantly lower rates of prostate cancer.

If I take a month off, that's going to be hell trying to catch up in December.

Can’t wait to start watching classic Christmas movies like Die Hard to get in the spirit.
Lifetime has been showing Xmas movies 24/7 since mid Oct. Ends on Xmas day. I have a friend who has a tree up year round and is glued to this channel and  Xmas music.
