I’m Ready for Fantasy Football to be Done for the Year (1 Viewer)

I'm kind of with you. I'm in two titles games right now that both look like coin flips, but both are low-scoring with a bunch of "star" players on both sides having bad games, so it's hard to get too excited. Will probably come down to some plug in the late games randomly having a career day.

The luck factor is just off the charts these days, with everyone working from pretty much the same information. For some reason, that still feels fun during the season, when you can count on the randomness evening out. But once you get down to the money, it really does feel like we're just flipping coins.

I only play in 1 league, which helps.

At the end of the day, I've pretty much accepted that fantasy is 95 percent luck based on injuries, big plays and rz play calling. My finals opponent went 6-7 in the regular season and is now gonna win the title because Ryan Fitzpatrick is throwing all over the yard

My older son just turned 7, he’s really gotten into football this year and loves the 49ers like his dad. I let him stay up and watch the game with me last night.

When Kittle scored a TD last night he was jumping up & down with excitement and I had to explain to him that I didn’t want that guy to score a TD. He proceeded to tell me that is dumb, and interestingly, he’s correct.

I’m playing an Eagles’ fan in my title game today, I have Sanders going. I can’t imagine it will be fun rooting against their starting RB in a de facto playoff game for them.

I almost feel like I’d be happier in a 12-14 week season, I def don’t need ulterior rooting motives when games actually matter.
I'm going against my buddy who's a big eagles fan. His team name is FlyEagles Fly. It's only the 3rd place game but it's for money. He has Zeke and Cooper going today. Makes for a weird dynamic. Usually you can separate your fandom from your money but not always.

I'm basically only in dynasty leagues and all but one have big rosters so the waiver grind isn't much. I don't think I could make it through a bunch of redraft leagues anymore.

What sucks is I pour over rankings for weeks. Try my hardest to set my lineup perfectly. My opponent doesn't even try and pick up Boone for Cook. Ignores his TE hole (lol) all year and he's on pace to score 150+ vs me thanks to Mike Gesicki. Why do I bother?

This was my first year without fantasy football in almost 25 years. And it was my most enjoyable football season in at least a decade... aside from all of the Steelers injuries, at least. Only cared about a couple games per week, and that was as a fan, not just following a box score.

Made lots of money over the years but life's too short to spend time worrying about that stuff.. too much information out there, too many guys who really do believe they're experts at a game that's a vast majority luck, and so many better and more important ways to spend my time, especially on Sundays. Won't be playing next year either, almost surely done for good.

In 5 leagues...all redrafts. Commish in 4.

I have found that if I basically draft the same teams (some differences based on draft spot, trades, etc), it is much easier to manage. Also don't find yourself being torn because you are both playing and playing against a guy on any given Sunday, which make it more enjoyable.

Today was exhausting and I feel you.  I won 3/4 finals but find myself more pissed at the one I could lose. My favorite long time redraft league comes down to tomorrow because I played the hype guy Mike Boone over other options and it would be over.  So tomorrow’s work day and tomorrow night will be stressful. I know it shouldn’t but I get like this. I’d like the trophy (winner picks bar location of draft as well).

I wish there wasn’t a MNF game Week 16 like there isn’t 17.

my dynasty league team went 16-0 and won it all. One team won the toilet bowl and I have his pick which becomes 1.1  he later said how do I have any fun? I enjoy the less stress in season so I can enjoy the off season.  The team is stacked and I have picks 1,2,4,9,10 overall. For me like many in here April to July is fun!

this was the year that when the experts said 'zig' you should've zagged.

oh, whats that, team X plays miami/jets/cincy/redskins/giants?! start all players in these games, they shouted!! Eagles made a joke of that with the Dolphins game and with the Giants game. start all jets vs miami.wrong. It just seemed that all of the 'can't miss' best potentially high scoring games for fantasy purposes all flopped, and some miserably.

Goedert was on fire for 8 weeks, then ertz has 3 good weeks, then goedert goes nuts again today. one guy I played against picks up Jimmy G on waivers, dude has a 400 yard, 4TD game during a span of 3-4 weeks in which he barely did anything.same GM picked up the new ATL kicker, who hits 4 FGs and 4XPs vs Carolina and he scores 20+ pts against me in our next meeting.. I can't think of a season when more things went against the grain, than 2019. I mean , Tannehill is a legit top 10 QB.let that sink in for a minute.

I would always root for my nfl team first. Unless you are talking about a life changing amount of money I would be happy about my nfl team and not care about what happens in fantasy.

And for a brief moment, his love of his fantasy team and Sanders's lack of success met a surprising confluence.

Neat trick he played there.

I do a playoff pool where you draft before the WC round.  There's no need to look over fantasy news 24/7 but keeps all the games interesting.  Each player is eliminated once their team loses.

Season long fantasy is definitely a grind if you want to compete.

I think I’m finally quitting. I won a championship with my best redraft draft in years but I’m hanging it up. I’ve learned a lot about football and it’s good being in touch with league owners but I have come to hate the feeling of annoyance and stress watching the games outside of relevance to the game itself.

Why stop at fantasy?  I am ready for the NFL to be done for the year.  The end of fantasy really brings to light just how poor of a product the NFL is putting on the field when you don't have something at stake to make it bearable.  Just a barrage of horribly bad calls by the refs and horrible amateur decisions by coaches that are supposed to be experts at this.

Watching an NFL game is 95% frustration.

I always pegged you for a team-first, purist bent. I'm surprised you did FF as long as you did, even though I don't know how long it was for. It's not in your personal profile, the oft-times bull#### ephemera that comes along with garbage time and the rotations FF brings that have little to do with winning or losing. Doesn't seem like you.

Thanks. Yeah I felt weird watching Aaron Jones take that last carry to the house. Won me a championship (decent dollars, it’s an old league and the pot has grown as our incomes have). I felt good that I had drafted him and he pretty much carried me without having drafted a true RB1 at the time. Usually that’s great satisfaction in FF. But I wanted the Vikes to win for the Saints to get the playoff bye. The team vs FF thing is old hat for this forum, it’s just worn me down personally.

Congrats, man, on your title. I only clicked sad because it was good to have you in the kicker thread and other discussions really only relevant to FF that pretty much will be lost when you stop doing it.

I'm definitely ready for the regular season to be over.  We do the playoffs in two of my leagues....live drafts too.  They are a lot of fun, and a refreshing change from the grind of the regular season.....I'm a Cowboys fan so I could give a rats ### about watching them right now.

We also do a week 17 free-for-all, in one of my leagues......set any lineup you want for the week within our allowed settings, winner takes all.....it's like $100.  It's a great way to make week 17 mean something

Guessing that encourages hoarding QBs a bit? Which could be a good thing.

Just got my Yahoo season recap email and grade. I won my league with most PF and most PA. Color Yahoo unimpressed... final grade: B-

Yeah, we'll be moving to Sleeper next year.

I love those algorithms. They'e right when they're wrong. It's like socialism and bread. There's no bread because you got hungry at the wrong time, according to the state, not because there's NO ####### FOOD.

It's essentially a weekly contest where every owner can set a lineup using any player in the NFL you want.....so Mahomes could be starting on every team, potentially....no salaries involved either......lineups are hidden from the rest of the league members until kick off of the first games, which is when your complete lineup is due.....the winner inevitably always finds that gem that way out-produces expectations
