Travel Bucket List (1 Viewer)

3 hour lunch

Footballguy
There's a lot of places I'd like to see at least one time and I've started to create a list of bucket list travel destinations to start hitting maybe one a year, maybe 10 years down the line. Just wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone has any favorite places or have been to any of these places and don't think they are 'worthy'.

For background, we have already been to Vegas, Rome/Florence/Positano, Aruba, Maui, St Thomas, Bahamas, Cancun......

Indonesia/Bali

Ireland/Scotland

New Zealand/Australia

Greece

Maldives

Egypt

Bora Bora

Barbados

Peru/Macchu Picchu

Oahu

St Lucia

Spain/Ibiza

Northern Italy- Milan/Venice/Cinque Terre/Portefino

Thailand

I'm sure this list is too basic. What say you?

Northern Italy is absolutely worth it.  Venice is a must visit.  You've also got the lakes Como, Garda.  The Italian Alps are also incredibly beautiful to drive through.

My bucket list

- Tokyo, Japan

- Croatia

- Vienna

- Prague

- Banff

- South Africa

alaska (probably on a cruise)

pretty much the entirety of the western US

maybe New Zealand but man that's far away

Hawaii (thanks to the sheik for reminding me)

Ever since watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade as a kid I’ve wanted to see Petra

History is a common theme:  the Pyramids and Luxor, Athens, Rome, London, Berlin, etc

I think it’d be pretty cool to be able to say I’ve visited all 7 continents

Seeing the northern lights in Norway is up toward the top of the list

The Pyramids would be at the top of my list but everything I've heard leads me to believe that Cairo is an absolute ####hole of a city so its a hard pass for me.

Also, I've stayed at the Luxor.  It's not that great.   Decent sportsbook though.

Do it and get a balcony room, worth every penny and more.  Wife and I did this for our honeymoon and morning coffee on our balcony looking at the majesty of nature was probably the most relaxed and comfortable I’ve ever been in my life

Cuba, New Zealand, Capetown, Morocco and Bali are definitely on the list

Sounds awesome.   Doing a test cruise run with the kids in march down to the bahamas to make sure I like cruising.

Speaking of cruising, those viking river cruises sound pretty cool.  Anyone ever been?

Ha, I’ve been trying to convince the wife to do one of those for years.  She’s convinced it’s for old people and opposes it, though she’s also not adventurous enough to do an on-your-own type European vacation.  I know and work with enough people who have taken them that there’s nothing but great reviews of them

I think your wife may be right but that doesn't mean its a bad thing

Not meant as a swipe at the OP, but its amazing how many of us will go great distances to experience things and we haven't done half of the cool things in our own country or even state.
Not to mention the travel problems that could be involved.  Now give me a Star Trek type transporter and then we are talking.

Ski Europe:

alrburg, Val Gardena, zermatt, kitzbuhl

thailand

bali

new zealand

more Caribbean

kayak pacific nw/canada
The second most comfortable and relaxing moment of my life occured during our Alaskan cruise when kayaking in some sound off Ketchikan.  We saw a pod of orcas, humpbacks, and tons of seals.  Also, the bald eagles of that region are absolute beasts compared to the kind down here in Florida

We got the great southwestern adventure trip planned this summer.  Kids will be 10, 7 and 5.

Great Sand Dunes NP in Colorado

Grand Canyon

Zion NP

Moab UT.

I've never done any of these with the exception of Moab, which I've been too multiple times.   Kids are so pumped.

Tokyo for Wrestle Kingdom
Munich for Oktoberfest
Ancient Greek and Roman points of interest
Seeing a national park or other point of interest from all 50 states
Seoul for eSports

This is my thought now.  I've traveled all over the world.  Not everywhere, obviously, but a lot.  And now I'm ready for short trips to places in my own country.  No passport required.  No people around who hate Americans.  There's so much to experience in this country and my goal is to see the most I can before I die.  No desire to leave the country anymore.

Eh, maybe include Canada in this, too, since it's like our weird younger brother.  Lots of places I'd like to see up in the Great White North.

I want to do that train ride through the Canadian Rockies.  It looks amazing.  But my wife said we'll be the youngest people there by 40 years.  Who cares?  It looks awesome.
Damn, that does look good.  I need to stop talking to you guys.   I might actually want to leave my house.

Just get in your car with something like this and start driving.

Did Grand Canyon and Jellystone in the last three months.

Rome, Florence, Monta Carlo, Barcelona, Bilbao in April.

Would like to do more white water rafting in Riggins, ID, this summer.

As for locations here in the states, it is my dream to be able to take the time needed and hike the AT in it's entirety...it’s been a good 10 years, probably time to give A Walk In The Woods another read

Reading that now for like the 5th time.  One of my favorite books.    Some sections sound absolutely terrible.   I think I'd rather just section hike some of the nicer parts and cross it off the list.

Traveling within the United States is great, but there's just so much more to experience.  Different cultures, different foods, different climates.  There's only so much variety you can get traveling within the US outside of a handful of really unique locations.  It's always been a weird take to me to not understand why people want to travel abroad before seeing everything in the US.

Vermont used to have the best buckets, cuz we used so many of them to tap maple trees for making syrup, but now we run PVC lines down to collection vats. I think Martha Stewart bought all them buckets after we stopped using em, so the best buckets are wherever she is or somewheres else.

Western National Parks swing with the kids

South of Spain

Barcelona -- French Riviera -- Amalfi Coast

Anfield for a huge league or European game

African safari

This is very valid of course. When thinking bucket list I was thinking more unique international opportunities. I still want to go on a national park road trip, see New York, etc.

Alaska cruise

Search for Forrest Fenn's treasure

Fort Riley KS; was born there, just want to see it

New Orleans

WDW & Universal Studios; was last there about 30 years ago

Hawaii on a cruise is great. You can hit all of the islands without having to do expensive 'island-hopping' on planes. You can add time before or after to spend time on other stuff,
You really miss the best of the islands this way imo.

I did the Georgia portion of the AT in 2019.  Plan is to continue to do segment hikes - not sure if I'll ever do a through hike or if I'd even want to do once since I could never convince my wife to do it.

Getting some good ideas from this thread. I try to balance international travel with seeing different parts of the US.

Can confirm Cairo is a ####hole but the Pyramids are incredible.

In Thailand right now, highly recommend it.

Haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but I highly recommend a trip to Niagra Falls to anyone that hasn’t been.
