Might want @[icon] in here for an opposing viewpoint, but ...

Mere proximity is not much of a risk. I won't say "zero risk", but it's a lot different than being coughed on or handling an object an infected person touched with coughed-on hands. No one's going to catch it breathing in the air (assuming no hacking/sneezing at the table) near an infected person.

At your conferences, do people kind of keep their hands to themselves, don't pass items to one another, and so forth? Or no?

Yeah. He was one that was being especially conscientious even before this.

Really annoyed that i have blocked all essential oil hockers on facebook. I am sure by now they have come up with a cure for this thing.

2 parts elderberry, one part peppermint. All good!

Taking elderberry (not essential oil but the liquid form) wouldn't hurt at all and could be helpful. It's boosts immune system and has been used for centriues as a flu type immune booster. I take it daily for now. No harm and it may help.

Got this group text from my friend..

"This info is from my friend that works for CDC that passed this along to his family and friends. I'm passing it along as well.. The new NCP coronavirus may not show sign of infection for many days, how can one know if he/she is infected. By the time they have fever and/or cough and goes to the hospital, the lungs is usually 50 % Fibrosis and it's too late! Taiwan experts provide a simple self-check that we can do every morning: Take a deep breath and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds. If you complete it successfully without coughing, without discomfort, stuffiness or tightness, etc.,it proves there is no fibrosis in the lungs, basically indicating no infection. In critical times, please self-check every morning in an environment with clean air. SERIOUS EXCELLENT ADVICE by Japanese Doctors treating COVID-19 cases: Everyone should ensure your mouth & throat is moist, never DRY. Take a few sips of water every 15 mins at least. WHY? Even if the virus gets into your mouth...drinking water or other liquids will WASH them down through your esophagus into the stomach. Once there in tummy...your stomach ACID will kill all the virus. If you don't drink enough water more regularly....the virus can enter your windpipes and into the LUNGS. That's very dangerous. Pls send and share with family, friends and everyone.” 🙄

A friend of mine is an investor in a new bar restaurant that was set to open soon, just talked to him and he is very worried as they needed to open for cash flow. Been training and paying kitchen, bar staff and servers for 3 weeks.

My wife works for a company in PA that has about 40 employees.  She works from home every Friday so asked if she could WFH full time until this crisis is over.  The president of the company says that since everyone doesn't have that ability it wouldn't be fair so she's in the office today.

It seems to me that every person they can send home to work would benefit those that must come in:  it is less people in office to potentially spread right?   Her boss says the leaders of the company are "monitoring the situation".   That's BS if you ask me.

...and, I'm suddenly having chest pains.  Checked my BP and it was 180 over something.  Currently sitting in ER so they can tell me its indigestion and BP reading was faulty.  obviously its not something to mess with, so worth coming in to get checked out.

Can confirm drive-thru tests are in place here, and ER gave me a mask due to my lingering (but improving) sinus infection cough.

Called my pcp office since been feeling unwell for a few days. In the past I've had infections without a fever. Have more labs added to Thurs. The gal there said some offices around are closing to non essential patients. Scary. I'm so glad I've had my appt for 6 mo as I'm on a schedule to have labs done and be seen. Feel bad for those not being seen who think they should.

Good luck and stay safe.

Yep.  If one person tests positive they'll be forced to close anyway so essentially they are waiting for someone to get sick.  :wall:

The president of the company email to the staff said something along the lines of "too much hype and hysteria is causing undue panic" ,  This guy is a piece of work.

I am really positive now that my good friend had it and maybe I did too. We are both 37. Feb 22 a bunch of us were at his house for the Wilder-Fury boxing PPV. The next day he mentioned he wasn't feeling well (yes I know it takes longer to get symptoms, he and I hang out quite often). Monday, I wake up feeling like crap. Just weird dreams and stuff- sweaty, head cloudy, etc. I felt better by the evening, Tuesday fine. Wednesday all weird again and then I am good. However, my friend was so sick with fever, aches, etc. that he had to take 2 weeks off of work.  He was tested for the flu but it came back negative. The doctor said it must be a false negative because he was sure it was the flu (Corona wasn't really on peoples minds at that point). He said he felt better after 4 days and thought he turned the corner but then it came on worse. My friend said he never got a cough or trouble breathing but he had no energy and could not shake the fever. He's still now recovering- said today is the first day he's felt like maybe going for a jog. I find out now that his brother and sister-in-law (42 years old) had the literally exact same thing happen to them in February- like they were so sick for a whole month that they barely worked or left the house. She developed pneumonia. But, there flu tests also came back negative but the doctors just assumed it still had to be the flu.

This might have been a good strategy a week or two ago, I think you’re too late now.

Interesting.  I mean, I'm looking to take precautions to avoid getting it in the first place. But seems that it would be better to get sick now, if that means getting really sick in say a week, than to do the same in three weeks. Mind you, I am in Dallas which only woke up to this reality over the weekend (and many still arent woke to it)

Hope it's nothing.

I wonder how many cases in the ER are panic attacks which shortness of breath is also key. Not saying your case, just in general more people added to the ERs.

FWIW, the Whole Foods here in Uptown Dallas ROCKED it - were actively restocking shelves, had TP (when I got there, gone by time I was finished) and literally opened up boxes still on pallets for Pasta that had just arrived (was not one box on the shelf)... as noted above, it's not as expensive as it once was, and desperate times and all.

We had the essentials here, but I got a ton of meats that can be parred and frozen (including two NICE full racks of ribs, one Baby Backs, one Spare that were already frozen), things like cereal and oatmeal that we don't much eat, some instant soup types to complement my 25 ramens I bought yesterday at H-Mart.  Wanted some goodies to cook, but also some really easy items should I go down ill and not want to actually cook.
