“Payment amounts would be fixed and tiered based on income level and family size,” the Treasury department wrote in the proposal. “Treasury is modeling specific options.”

Odds of screwing this up - 99%.
Given the tax bill, you can confidently bump this on up to 100% +

That's cause the govt can do anything the easy way. Crank up the printing presses, and send me 10 Ben Franklins. Act like it always existed and you are just donating it to me.
That would be nice, make it a gift so we don't get taxed on it...

Now that's just being ridiculous. 😁
Off topic - The company I work for has an annual appreciation dinner.  They have door prizes, around 10 or so items, value around $150-$400.  Used to be great when you won something, the last 2 years you would get taxed on these prizes if you won like earnings.  People were paying 30% of the value of the "gift" in taxes, might be required but leaves a bad taste in the employees mouths.

Good ole Ron Johnson from WI, he married a women whos dad owned a company here, he gave a "start up" to Ron that the main company purchased raw materials from so it would be successful.  Another line of grifters that believe they are better than the common folk

How many of the eight on the ballot this year?

People need to remember these names come reelection time. My Rep Waltz voted against the house bill. I wrote his office let him know that I supported him last election but because he doesn't feel the American people need help in a situation like this. I will vote for whoever is running against him even if it means I have to vote for a Democrat. I haven't recieved a response .

Sen. Ron Johnson:
"Getting coronavirus is not a death sentence except for maybe no more than 3.4 percent of our population...probably far less."
"We don’t shut down our economy because tens of thousands of people die on the highways"

Setting aside that even by his numbers, 3.4% of the population would be 10+ million deaths, this is going to come up a lot in the next several months...

I think its important for the Representatives and Senators to understand - there are no magic bullets here.  Every solution will have its flaws.  I trust that the Dems, GOP, and White House are all negotiating in good faith on these measures, and congress just needs to get something done now - just to reassure the public that things will get back to normal.

Protest votes here because you did not get everything you wanted are really just childish, imo.

What a terrible message for him to send.

I'd want to be his opponent just so I could continually quote his ignorance.

Can I forego the 1K and just avoid finishing off my taxes for the year? I likely owe in the 1K range. Just easier for all involved

Nope, but there are 70,000,000 who can in November.
There were 67 who could have removed him two months ago. ALL of them knew he was guilty. They refused to listen to evidence. Let me repeat that part again: they knew he was guilty and they refused to listen to evidence.

If Republican Senators had done their job, we would have President Pence right now and I believe this current crisis would have been handled much better. And now the entire nation is paying the price for this.

If all of sudden, tens of thousdands of people started dying on the highway because their cars developed some weird reactions to gasoline or something - we certainly would do something

Calm down, guys. Stop overreacting.

You sound like you're jealous.  That has zero to do with anything.

I don’t think I am. I’ve been pretty complimentary of Trump’s actions, (not his statements) but the more info I learn the more I’ve changed my mind. He’s behaved incompetently. And the thing is we all KNEW he was incompetent and corrupt. The Mueller report stated it. The impeachment demonstrated it. None of this should come as a surprise to anyone. And you knew it too. But you liked the judges and you didn’t want liberals to win, so you stuck by him. And now we’re all being punished for it.

We're not being punished for anything. You guys are blowing everything out of proportions as usual.

Why is everything always high drama with everyone in this forum?  I don't think I've ever seen a place where grown men get triggered so much.

I'm not just talking about you, Tim. I'm trying to say this in the nicest way possible but the level of hyperbole and over the top rhetoric is part of the problem.

Why don't you reply to every single post? You missed one or two.
you should try engaging in polite conversation every now and then. Let me know when you're ready to be a grown up and discuss matters like grown men can.

I haven't been in the swarm for anywhere from 18 to 24 hours. You've been posting in here non-stop 24/7.  Who's replying to every single post?

Dude. Like nearly everyone here my kids aren’t going to school. My business is shut down. I’ve lost a ton of money.  My entire life is frozen. I have older relatives who may die if they get this virus. And the man in charge, who I depend on to find a way through this, is an incompetent liar. Please don’t tell me I’m blowing things out of proportion.

I feel for you. I really do. But panic and overreaction are actually the last things we need.

We are in the middle of a crisis and he talks #### to the governor of Michigan, because it’s a battleground state, because the only thing he’s been focused on, from day 1 of taking the oath of office, is getting re-elected. He doesn’t care about me, you or anything else. He’s never stopped campaigning.

Thanks Ron Johnson, fn ########!, for your support of WI workers and families with kids in closed schools.

This is what I talk about when I talk about over-reacting, triggered and outright panic.  We need LESS of this, not more.

It’s not Trump’s fault. And you are blowing things out of proportion. Are you still getting a paycheck from the company you control?

The virus is not Trump’s fault. His incompetent, slow response to it is his fault and his responsibility.

With my father deceased I own my company. I can only pay myself if my company makes a profit. That looks to be a long time away at this moment. I am able to keep my employees paid and fed, for the moment. For how long I have no idea.

Stop with the drama Tim. What about younger people in the service industry? People that work at restaurants for tips, or other service places? And you’re in here whining about your life. Dude, take a step back.

They liked the judges, how their 401ks were doing and the low unemployment numbers. Now all they got to cheer about is the judges. The 401ks are back to where they were when Trump took office and unemployment claims in every state are going through the roof.

I have been reading tweets from casino employees in Nevada, and things look really grim for them, some examples:

anonymous 9898 @9898Anonymous 3h

I’m an employee at Treasure Island and I would like to remain Anonymous. But we have been laid off and Phil Ruffin will not be paying any of his employees. This is terrible for our Families and I. #LasVegas #casino #hotel #lasvegasshutdown #lasvegasstrip
Randy Goldich @randy_goldich 19h

Las Vegas is officially on lockdown for 30 days. Everything is closed, all casinos, the city has stopped. All employees of hotels/casinos have been laid off and we are shutdown! Here is a major grocery chain empty of meat, poultry, fish toilet paper /water
#OneDayCloser @lagtzs 5h

Here in Las Vegas they are terminating people right and left, my husband was told on Monday he no longer has a job, it feels like a betrayal by the casinos where employees have work their asses, instead of temporary closing operations at least 80% have been TERMINATED

You asked him a question and he answered. He’s a small business owner who employs people who depend on him. And he’s forgoing income so he can keep them employed and earning a paycheck. But financial realities may ultimately force him to let them go, or at least put them on unpaid leave. That is a situation that is absolutely worthy of concern., just as it is for many small businesses across the country that are the engines of our economy.

edit:  Just looked it up. Small businesses employ 58.9 million people, nearly half of the country’s workforce.

Seriously? I’m not complaining about me. @BladeRunner stated I was overreacting. I don’t think I am. All of the people you’re talking about, and I know plenty of them, I’m sure you do too. They’re all suffering far worse than I am and for the same reason; because this mess was handled incompetently from the start. And we all knew this guy was incompetent, you did too, and yet you continued to support him. And you supported the senators who shirked from their constitutional duty and refused to remove him. And now we’re all paying the price for it: you, me, everyone.
