Best Song (any genre) from 1970 to 1979 (1 Viewer)

other random thoughts, not necessarily TOP 40 material but songs that stand up over time

Bloody Well  Right    supertramp

Great Gig in the Sky   pink floyd

Whole Lotta Rosie  AC/DC

Loving Cup   rolling stones

Dream On  aerosmith

one of these days i'll make a recording of all the greatest guitar solos that i can recall and this song will definitely be on it
Used to work in a fish processing plant up in Alaska to pay my way through college back in the early 90s.   Lived in a tent for three summers and one day I got tabbed to work in the deep freeze.

-.15 degree temps packing boxes and boxes of salmon.  Worked alone for over fifteen hours in complete utter silence and desolation.

Looked up to see someone had scrawled these words.

Ticking away the moments that make up the dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way

Captured the desolation of that situation perfectly.

Has to be 'Time' for me.

I'm glad you listed any genre. Because the 70s had a ####load represented on the popular charts. Rock, metal, punk, power pop, new wave, disco, electronic, r&b, blues, jazz, funk, fusion, and of course The Carpenters.

I was thinking "London Calling" but looks like one of those 79/80 bridge songs (and more '80, based on US release date).

I'll go with Fleetwood Mac -- "Go Your Own Way"
