Dynasty: WR Isaiah Hodgins, Oregon State - Buffalo gets a nice Beaver

Recommended Posts

Born Oct 21, 1998

6'4" 209 BMI 26.05

4.61 on the 40
9 bench press reps
124" broad jump
36.5" vertical jump
7.01 3 cone

Entering his junior season at age 20 he put up 86/1171/13
Entering his sophomore season at age 19 he put up 59/876/5

I don't know much about him just wanted to start a thread. He was a mixed bag at the combine but seems to be a jump ball specialist with great hands and long arms. Some people have called him a round 3/4 pick. In the right spot maybe he sneaks into the 2nd round of rookie drafts. I currently have him as 10th WR behind Aiyuk and in front of Pittman. Subject to change.

NFL Media's Lance Zierlein compares Oregon State WR Isaiah Hodgins to Green Bay Packers WR Geronimo Allison.

Though the athletic tools aren't terribly enticing, Hodgins (6'4/210) has the skills to play inside and outside in the NFL. Zierlein notes Hodgins has "instinctive ball skills and body control" as well as "great awareness to protect the catch with his frame," making him an excellent candidate to be a team's possession receiver. It's tough to find instances of Hodgins completely torching defenses over the top or with the ball in his hands, but he is a consistent chain-mover. Zierlein sees Hodgins as a high-end backup who may develop into a starter in a couple of seasons.

Bills selected Oregon State WR Isaiah Hodgins with the No. 207 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Hodgins (6’4/210) was a productive three-year starter who led the Beavers’ receivers in receptions in all three of his seasons. After an 86-1,171-13 junior season, he declared for the draft early as a 21-year-old. On tape, he was a patient route runner who tracked the ball very well. He catches it with his hands and has a big frame that allows him to high point passes. Unfortunately, he showed 4.61 speed and 45th percentile Adjusted SPARQ athleticism at the NFL Combine. Hodgins has everything but the juice, so he profiles as a depth receiver and special teamer in the NFL.

Love him.  Biased, but he's fun to watch.  Catches everything.  Had a great year in an up tempo offense.  Like Luton though (who went to Jax), I wonder how he will be on a  run first/defensive mind set team.

I've been waiting this whole time for the Bills to take more of a prototypical bigger WR. I think he can step in right away, if he is any good. I was hoping for a higher draft spot, though, but I think the depth chart is ripe for opportunity, obvious exception of Diggs. Brown is better as a role player from here out, I think. I'm not holding my breath here though.

Ya.  I mean I'm a Beavers fan so have been going to games and watching him play for 3 years.  The system our new coach implemented really skyrocketed everyone's numbers.  He had a huge year though and our QB locked in on him all the time because he could get open and caught everything.  I think he will be solid in the NFL, but I don't see massive numbers as he needs the volume.  He'll make your squad for sure though and I hope he succeeds there.  Allen does love to sling it.

I'm not a Bills fan, though I am pulling for them. Actually I live in Portland, OR so naturally I haven't been to Resers and I'm a Chicago Bears fan. Because Portland.

As long as you're not a Ducks fan then skipping out on Reser is ok.  But you're so close and games are a blast, you should check it out.

I come down every year for a Beavers game and am a huge fan.  Guess you're technically a platypus then.
