Is it too late to get Cuomo on the ballot? (1 Viewer)

Gotta admit, he's shining in his state's moment of distress. Compared to the show the Ds have run out there for the last 6 months, he'd be a real breath of fresh air. (Policies notwithstanding)

Cuomo used to be married to one of Robert Kennedy's daughters.  One of the things that hastened the end of their marriage was the music playlist he put together for one of their big social functions. It included the great Stones song, Sympathy for the Devil.  You know, with the memorable lyric, "...I shouted out, who killed the Kennedys, well after all it was you and me...".

8 months before the election and democrats STILL can't land on a candidate.  Absolutely hilarious...and sad

Oh hey look!!  That one is shiny!!!

A random thread on a message board started by someone who's not even a Democrat does not equal "democrats".

Besides, 8 months before the election is relatively early to settle on a candidate.   For example the Republicans didn't settle on Trump until May in 2016.  I'm glad you're amused though.

I'm completely amused.  The democrats started with a billion candidates.  Spoke about how important diversity and inclusion was.  Narrowed the field down to two old white guys, and now see a shiny democrat over in New York...you know...the one on the TV,   and now are saying  "Hey can he run?  Can we elect Cuomo?"

How is that not amusing..and as I said before..utterly sad.

Bernie is smart not to dropout because he knows what a mess Biden is but I don’t think he’s  anticipating the double backstab by the dnc that’s going to happen
I'm sure he's anticipating it, I don't know how much he'll fight it when it happens though

I think he knows. I also think part of him low key getting even is to stick around and expose their ### when they do pass right over him with someone not even in the race.

Sounds almost as bad as the Republicans back in 2016 when they had umpteen candidates and got stuck with Trump, a candidate who rarely got over 50% of any state's primary or caucus. So a never Trump group emerged from the GOP. They went with Trump cause what else were they going to do. So the party which fewer Americans claim to belong to than the Democrats saw about 5% more leave the GOP.

TBH, I kind of like Cuomo.   He tells it like it is.  I wish more Democrats were like him instead of the feminized versions most of seem to be now.

I could be on board with him should he ever become a candidate.

Well, isn't this special.

Cuomo and De Blasio are the primary reason NY is the US epicenter.  They were extremely slow to react.
Cuomo is still trying to cut healthcare funding (and education funding for that matter) as we speak.  His cuts have amounted to a loss of 20-25,000 hospital beds in NY state from around 75k to 50k and now he's trying to ramp back up to 100k.

I think he's doing an admirable job trying to deal with the crisis in the moment, but he cut this state down to such a razor thin margin of error trying to avoid increasing taxes on the rich that it really put us in a very tough spot.

It's right there set up on a tee for them. Biden losing his marbles while Cuomo shines on TV before a national daily audience. The simple choices for the Party and the Establishment are these...

1) Move forward with the guy they control and risk losing in November because he's rapidly deteriorating before our eyes

2) Pivot to a guy who would win the general in a lay up but probably isn't quite so "under their thumb"

We all know what path they're going to choose. The Democratic Party never gets out of its own way.

Despite winning some primaries Biden is obviously struggling and Bernie`s camp knows it.  Why drop out when Bernie has at least a fighters chance of getting the nomination.

He doesn't even have a fighter's chance. The fat lady is clearing her throat...

Liking his style as well, but I'll stick with Biden.   #1 goal is to defeat Trump and he was looking really good prior to the beak.

As a NYer who has been watching this daily, this is incredibly wrong.  Cuomo has been trying to act; DeBlasio has been a disaster.

Every Republican I speak with seems to like Cuomo.  If he were in this race right now, I think he wins, with ease.  The people who dislike Trump but prefer him to the current dem candidates -- and it seems there are many of these folks -- would go Cuomo.  As would all the dems.  Easy victory.

By the way, I love the way Cuomo slapped down Trump yesterday over the whole NY quarantine business.  And it's the first time that I think I can recall Trump getting slapped down and getting in line, retracting his position, and conceding the point.  Cuomo would really browbeat Trump through debates and this election cycle.

But I assume it's too late?

Trump is obviously awful, but Biden is such a good match up.
I don’t really get it either but Biden won the votes. It really was only like a 2 week period where he turned it all around then this mess hit.

Im guessing as soon as life begins return to normalcy all the Republican voters who won’t vote for Biden but are saying they would vote for Cuomo would find a reason he’s a socialist, or he’s a crook, etc.

A lot of living in the moment right now.   Cuomo does look really good during this crisis, but that doesn't make him a good presidential candidate.  Christ, Giuliani was a rock star during 9/11 and look at the lunatic he turned out to be.

It's not too late ever really, the DNC can decide to name anyone they want to the position no matter what happens in the primary
