WIS XVII - The Cartereaganbush League: Scoobus beats Sammy in the Wis Series (1 Viewer)

as i suspected, i didnt care about drafting a LOOGY, since the SIM never seemed to care to use them.  I have Woodie Fryman as my lone LH and he hasn't pitched in any games.

I’ve never seen the SIM put in a righty or lefty specialist other than when it’s extra innings and there’s nobody left.

I think a lot of the way Sparky is set up is towards tight salary-cap restricted leagues. LOOGY/ROOGY settings make a lot more sense for teams where innings are scarce and you don't want Sparky to quickly use up your best LOOGY just because that reliever happens to have the best sim stats.

Understood. I'm just offering a theory about how the sim engine might work under the hood -- so far as I'm aware, it's basically been the same engine for 10 years or so.

Could also be that the underlying sim logic is "broken" somehow, and LOOGYs/ROOGYs were meant to get called in for certain situations but don't.

There were updates to bullpen usage routines in 2009, 2010 and 2012.

The sim’s bullpen logic for my team is to find Steve Ontiveros regardless of what role he’s set to and throw him until his arm falls off and he costs me another game. Think I might just set him to rest for a couple months.

I'm not good at this, it's been well documented. The thing that really puzzles me, is I always have a team that is about 0.500 on the road and just absolutely horrible at home. I blame ownership and management. And not having a roof on Arlington Stadium in July and August.

Damn my pitching stinks, only one pitcher with and ERA under 4 :sadbanana:

Hitting not much better, Bip Roberts, Julio Franco and Bill Madlock all with sub 700 OPS  :X

Good afternoon kiddos... been, well, an adventure here as I’ve not signed in for fuh... a long time.

Work, protests, more work... oh, did I mention I have the Covids?

yah. Interesting times... recovering and not terrible but obviously on alert for those late onset symptoms that can really be a #####...

Reminds me of when we drafted right before I went into the hospital and almost died (let’s hope it doesn’t get nearly so bad this time!), season started when I was so sedated and f-d up I could barely and often didn’t set lineups first couple weeks (think I ended up doing well, and this sim was literally a life saver of something to look forward to three times a day as I was either hospitalized or relegated to home nursing for a couple months, looped out on perch and Fentanyl. You know it’s bad when a month after surgery you still NEED Fentanyl, hated that ####. GB weed for helping me through it).

Maybe I can get a repeat here who knows.

Need to catch up but I have SP to trade and would be in my interest to trade one of my two 1B, though kinda need Pops power right now.

Don Sutton who’s underperforming but not brutal

Bill Wegman 1.12 Whip

Bruce Kison maybe 1.11? Real life numbers, duh

looking for a righty bat, could include an underperforming Pops, and really almost anyone is available for the right deal.

also would trade a pitcher for a top line RP in a scenario.

@scoobus just saw your offer. Sorry I somehow missed it. Show ya Pm.

Stay healthy... unlike me. :toilet:

I’ll catch up and try for a post that feels less huffy

For reals? Dang, get better GB.

Are you still in Texas? If so, you've got to run your diagnosis by matuski -- he says COVID hasn't touched Texas and never will.

I’ll refrain from any comments but there definitely some vulgarity for those dangerously spreading BS that this is a hoax, it’s over, whatever.

I’d been super quarantined for 2.5. Months and tried to be smart upon reopening (always wore mask, because I’m also not some utterly inconsiderate ##### who has some sort of disdains for common courtesy, dined outdoors, only small groups... but I did protest (everyone I saw had a mask 😷).

Most likely is that a friend of mine who got it from her mother (not sure if her mom is a medical provider, that may be it) within my small circle.

so far I’m doing ok, let’s hope that continues!

wow, interesting season and division.

No All Star chatter? Had 3 surprisingly 2 were pitchers

Also WIS made their first code update in years with their post about stance on racial injustice and forum policies. At least someone is keeping the lights on no matter how dim they may seem.

The boy had 5...he's kicking butt so far.

I think I was 13 games back after the first 20 games of the season. Still 13 games back today, I will take that as a win

Pretty sure I had the most all stars with 7, but that somehow includes Ken Howell who might be the worst closer in this league.

Kraft and I just had a an 18-inning classic. And that was with my starter getting knocked out in the second inning :sadbanana:

- Both teams combined to use 20 pitchers. Kraft had three starters come in to relieve; I had two starters do the same. I also had a reliever (Tim Burke) come in off of 'Rest' status to pitch 2 2/3 innings   :topcat:

- Both teams had pitchers come in to pinch-hit (Dennis Martinez for Kraft, Frank Viola for me).

- After 8 innings, the score was tied 9-9. Neither team scored during the 9th through 17th innings. Kraft's squad was shut out for 11 consecutive innings (8th - 18th).

- David Wells, who had started the previous game, was forced to come into the game for Kraft in the bottom of the 18th inning. Andres Galarraga drove Wells' third pitch out of the park to seal a 10-9 victory for the Blackened Voodoo  :towelwave:

My team had 5 errors(only 2 unearned runs though), Bip Roberts had 3 at SS :bag:

Still sitting 13-15 games back, been neck and neck with my division since I made the lineup changes, wish I had done them week one.

Sparky brings my next days starting pitcher in for 6.1 innings of relief but at least I got the win.

Not in last place even though my team has hit a team TOTAL of 31 home runs, less than 6 players each have on their own.

Well, my team sucks and it looks like the 3-man rotation finally caught up with Kevin Brown.

But at least Coleman is going to steal over 100 bases. It's the little things.
