About Medicare for All?

Would he debate price's?

Would he care if non citizens take part?

Would he ask the cost?

Would he think it was socialist?

Would he be pro profits?  (Minus the disciples)

Would he even care?

1 John 2:15-17 New King James Version (NKJV)

Do Not Love the World

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

So don't be greedy, don't worry about judging others, and be compassionate for others....but most of all, love thy Father.

He commands us to care for the poor and needy, to the point of selling off our wealth to do so, so while I don't know if He feels the government should have a program set up, He definitely tells us to do so.

By not loving the world he was saying not to love "worldly things". That did not mean people of other nations. But hey nice try justifying your support for him.

Not just a commie but a hippie also.  On the plus side he could both feed and entertain a crowd at the same time.
if he werent the gatekeeper to man's greatest desires - sitting at the right hand of God & living forever in paradise - he'd have been forgotten a loooong time ago

Odd, I did not see where I implied not other people.  Instead of inventing some reason to disagree, why not look for stuff I actually said to agree with.

The party who doesn't believe in Jesus using Jesus in an appeal to emotion argument.

What's next?  People who think all women victims of sexual assault must be believed suddenly not believing them when their candidate is accused?

Oh....wait.....

I’m pretty sure there are lots of Christian Democrats.

There are a lot of Christian Independents, too. God is not a Republican, and Republicans definitely don't have a monopoly on supposedly supporting Christian beliefs.
Are we sure he was referring to Democrats? I assumed he was talking about the party led by the amoral hedonist Donny Two Corinthians.

I couldn't tell for sure, but I do know that Jesus often butted heads with the religious elite of His day, people who were so steeped in tradition and the idea of outward appearances of religiosity, they completely overlooked the lessons He taught. I can only wonder who might fit that bill today.

This is pretty disgusting to claim a party does not believe in Jesus...and far from factual at all.

The Jesus that is described in the Bible was pretty much the most raging liberal imagineable.  Anyone arguing otherwise is desperately trying to rationalize this, but even they know that is the case.

It's like anything else in the Bible.  They will ignore something that is so explicitly stated over and over again to cite something that is practically a footnote that can maybe be interpreted in their way.

It is painfully obvious that Jesus would support things like welfare, medicare for all, refugees, etc.  But those that disagree with those things will ignore all of the obviousness of this to find and pick out little half sentences that can maybe be interpreted a different way if you try hard enough.

Next to Jesus, Bernie Sanders would be considered a conservative.

Jesus literally was a refugee. His family fled to Egypt when He was a baby to escape Herod's genocide of baby boys in Judea. He also preached love for our neighbors, taking care of the poor/needy, and other things that a disturbing amount of people gloss over.

Huh?  Democrats don't preach any of that.  If they do, it's only every 4 years when they need votes.

Did I say that God was a Democrat, or that Democrats were somehow holy? Because while my memory isn't the best, I can guarantee that I didn't in fact say it. At any rate, the GOP has zero room to call anyone else hypocrites when it comes to actually following Jesus' teachings, because they're so concerned with bailing out CEOs and the like.

This post makes Baby Jesus happy.

This is yet another false and inflammatory statement with no evidence that bashes other people.  Why?

To claim Democtats don't preach refugees, helping and loving our neighbors, taking care of the poor/needy...is just flat out wrong.  Its very much a part of the party platform.

https://democrats.org/where-we-stand/party-platform/

It covers making things more equitable for all, removing barriers to opportunities, ensuring the health and safety of all Americans...that isn't just every 4 years.

Uhm....no.

Democrats lost all ability to speak about Jesus and morals when they got behind abortion 47 years ago.

Last I checked, it wasn't up to you or the GOP anyway, especially considering that they threw their hat in with a serial philanderer and now actively oppose protecting the poor or taking care of the environment. As Jesus said, "Take the plank from your own eye first, before telling your brother of the speck in his."

If the Democrats gave up the ability to speak about God (a laughable assertion on its own) by got behind abortion...then the GOP dod when they continue to get behind the death penalty.

Probably should have told that to the OP before he even started this thread.

The fact of the matter is that neither side gets to claim virtue, morals or anything else related to Jesus.  Especially the side the doesn't believe in Jesus in the first place  Especially the side that supports the killing of unborn children.

It's especially hypocritical for them to even try to compare.

Any attempt to claim the GOP has any more claim to Jesus then the DEM’s do is as blindly partisan as one can be.

I’m not a believer in Jesus as a God or the son of, but I do believe he was a holy man trying to make the world a better place. But either case, him being the son of God or just a man, he would be massively disappointed by the actions of both parties in general.

In truth, neither party has a legit claim to be any better than the other as it regards to righteousness....both parties are man-made and thus, by necesicity, fall far short of the glory of God as outlined in The Bible.

Exactly, and to claim that one does, especially when their beliefs do not align as closely as they might think, is the height of hypocrisy.

Tell you what, when the GOP starts caring for the unborn and their mother's after delivery, get back to me. When they stop lining the pockets of rich men and start helping the less fortunate, get back to me. When they start being proper stewards of this little blue marble instead of kowtowing to bad science and worse polluters in the name of the dollar, get back to me. Then they can maybe start to talk about being on that high horse.

You sound like you came straight from the DNC website.  None of that is even remotely true.

Spare me, I've seen the GOP's actions. They speak loud and clear. The Democrats have their own issues, to be sure. That said, the GOP's actions, especially over the past 6 months, have ensured that I won't be voting for them, not on the national level, for a very long time.

Can you point me to where in the New Testament Jesus discusses abortion? I mean, if that’s the litmus test for being able to “speak about Jesus,” he must have had some strong opinions on the matter, right?

The Democrats stance on abortion is the biggest reason I am not a Democrat and Donald Trump is the biggest reason I am no longer a Republican. I never realized the GOP would be so thrilled with climate change denialism and how the orange one feels and treats immigrants and refugees.

Jesus would not be too fond of being compassionate with other people's money.  Jesus is is concerned with the each individual's inner person and their belief and love for the Father.  He would have no interest in welfare or Medicare for all.

That last sentence is totally wrong. He outright tells a rich man to sell everything he has and give to the poor, if he wants to follow Jesus.

The typical 'rebuttal' I expect in this forum.  Jesus was definitely apolitical.  If you don't understand that Jesus main concern with one's belief and love for the Father, then you really are missing the point.....  Continue on with the politicization of Christ.

How does that conflict with anything I said.  Jesus main concern was for the welfare of the rich man.  The rich man suffered from a gluttony of greed and to fix that he needs to get rid of his possessions and follow Christ if he wants to be perfect.  That is much different than other people taking money from the rich man and giving it to the poor.  Jesus wants this man to improve himself.

I wouldn't say he's apolitical. I agree he doesn't support a man-made party, but he's political in the sense that he came to establish a kingdom, debated with religious political leaders, and died a political death. While not taking the side of a political party, he took the side of his father and of the people and he was against the rulers who abused their position and led people away from God.

I don't believe the kingdom he talked about was here on earth, of which he indicated little interest.  That politics (both religion and government) were responsible for putting him to the cross, does not make him political.
