Why Is The Extortion Thread Closed? I Just Got One (1 Viewer)

I mean really???  wtf???

I just got one.  Had this not been brought up before I would be pretty upset.  Who else has gotten one?

And for all the GIGANTIC BS that goes on around here ...was this thread shut down?

email is from

nanangsulistyo90@yahoo.com

probably doesn't matter ...but fyi

here is my message:

It seems that, #######, is your pass word.

I need your total attention for the next Twenty-four hrs, or I may make sure you that you live out of shame for the rest of your lifetime.

Hi, you do not know me personally. But I know nearly anything concerning you. Your present fb contact list, mobile phone contacts along with all the online activity in your computer from past 159 days.

And this includes, your self pleasure video clips, which brings me to the primary reason why I 'm writing this e-mail to you.

Well the last time you visited the porn websites, my malware ended up being triggered inside your personal computer which ended up logging a beautiful video of your self pleasure act simply by activating your cam.
(you got a seriously strange taste by the way lmfao)

I have the entire recording. If, perhaps you feel I 'm messing around, simply reply proof and I will be forwarding the recording randomly to 7 people you're friends with.

It could be your friends, co workers, boss, parents (I'm not sure! My system will randomly select the contacts).

Would you be capable to gaze into anyone's eyes again after it? I question that...

Nonetheless, it does not need to be that route.

I want to make you a 1 time, no negotiable offer.

Purchase USD 2000 in bitcoin and send them to the down below address:

15XS8BdGLm6VtAbhV9J4Xw7Kmaa8E*nChDN
[CASE-sensitive, copy and paste it, and remove * from it]

(If you do not understand how, google how to acquire bitcoin. Do not waste my valuable time)

If you send this 'donation' (let's call it that?). Immediately after that, I will go away for good and never ever get in touch with you again. I will get rid of everything I have got in relation to you. You may keep on living your current normal day to day lifestyle with absolutely no concern.

You've 24 hours to do so. Your time starts off as soon you read through this mail. I have got an one of a kind program code that will notify me as soon as you read this e-mail therefore don't attempt to act smart.

It would great if we could find these guys - but it's likely some kind of organized crime group so they would just kill us.   :bag:

I wondered that myself. I missed some of it and wasn't interested enough to try and go back and figure it out. But I read the last few posts and they all seemed on subject, not contentious, etc.

yeah, didn't get it at all.

since I got one just a couple of days after I figured it must be pretty wide spread and wanted to see if others got one as well.

It got locked as it turned into "jokes" about Footballguys giving out personal information. We take that seriously and it's a high priority for us and not something we think is funny.

Instead of continuing to edit the thread, it just got locked.

Without that, it's for sure fine to talk about and keep it family rated.

Cool Joe, thanks for the feedback. Makes sense.

Sorry, man...din't mean anything by it.  Can't we just remove the post?

Not sure how cumbersome it is but for 99% of people, I would think they'd be more understanding and less app to cross a line again if a mod just deletes a post or posts and mentions "please don't post this type of stuff" it would go a lot further then just deleting the whole thread with no explanation.

This is just regarding general thread axing not total toolbaggery acts of a bunch of people in a thread.

Several times people are asking and wondering why a thread got axed which inevitably leads to a potential repeat offense or line crossing

:2cents:

I immediately interpreted that post as a joke at least if that is any consolation to you, and I would assume most other people did as well. These password were all leaked from multiple massive data breaches involving hundreds of millions of people from things like credit report websites or yahoo or any number of other much larger sources.

I actually felt kinda bad like I brought up a bad topic.  :kicksrock:

As I said in the now-locked thread, I got 2 of these last week. A third one today. And yesterday I got a follow up e-mail:

Email him back and ask which sites so you can see he’s being serious.

Was talking to a friend about this over the weekend. She said that a few weeks ago she got a similar email,  but instead of threatening to expose some embarrassing video, it was simply a threat to kill her if she didn't pay off. This is the first I've heard of that kind of threat. After I picked my jaw back up from the table, I asked if she reported it to any authorities and she said she didn't. She just deleted it instead.

Jeebus.  I admit I know very little about bitcoin, but would think there has to be some way for the proper authorities  to trace this back to someone via the provided bitcoin address, no?

The self-love/pron sites attempted blackmail is one thing. Threatening bodily harm moves this kind of thing into a whole other realm.

Yep.

Anyone "threatening" me (or my wife) with uploading a video to a prn site just gets a laugh.

Bodily harm threats go to the police.

I get phishing email all the time on my yahoo mail from people pretending to be PayPal, ebay, Amazon. Hopefully I can get paid something in that class action lawsuit.

So I found something like this in my Gmail spam folder today.  The subject line was a password I commonly used probably ten plus years ago and it was sent to my comcast.net email that I've abandoned for at least that long.  Pretty confident they have just stolen my account info off some old janky site and are phishing to see who bites.  Not worried one iota about it.

That said if you are still using the same password for multiple sites, please invest in a password manager like LastPass that will auto-generate and track passwords for you.  It's way past the time to do this.

I hadn't checked my spam folder in a while. Almost missed an email about a race this month and this gem:

Dear Sir/Ma.

My name is Mr. George Mudumela; a senior government official in Department of Public Works & Housing for the Republic of South Africa and the Chief of Staff in charge for contracts awards execution and supervision of all contracts in the Ministry of works & Housing. In 2017, I personally monitored and supervised the awarded contracts for supplies of building materials and constructions of ultra modern shopping malls, low cost housing units, airports maintenance and Stadiums to Improve the standard of leaving in this country, In the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Natal and Gauteng provinces here in South Africa.

My colleague and I serving in the board deliberately inflated and over invoiced the contract sum, leaving an excess of US$30, 000,000.00 (Thirty Million United States Dollars Only). At the completion of the contract, the real contract sum was paid to the original contractors, leaving the excess, which we reported to the Government that it
belonged to the sub-contractor that handled part of the original contract. But the company we submitted as the beneficiary was non-existing foreign company, which was a purported attempt by us to divert the money for our private use. I do not intend to mince words with you, I have to tell you the truth; this is a deal but completely
risk-free and genuine because the contract has been perfectly and genuinely executed and completed. It depends on whether you are interested or not.

Right now this amount is due for payment and is floating in the treasury not attached to anyone/company. We are only two people who know the origin of this fund. But we cannot claim it by ourselves because we are civil servants therefore we are looking for a trustworthy foreign company / individual whose name can be used to claim this money for our mutual benefit.

This is strictly a business deal, but it’s completely risk-free and secure because we will use our official positions to source all the necessary approvals, official documents and certificates that will back up the fund to reflect that you/your company genuinely executed and completed the contract. All necessary arrangements have been put
in place in all the relevant departments for immediate approval of this payment.

For your co-operation, we have agreed to offer you 2.5% of the entire amount on conclusion of the transaction while 75% will be for us. Please if you are interested in this proposal, I want you to respond immediately through my personal email & telephone number stated below for further information and directives.

This transaction is expected to be completed within 10 or 14 work days and is highly confidential and discreet. Thank you for your co-operation. Your urgent reply is awaited through my private email accounts below.

Best Regards,

Mr. George Mudumela.

What class action lawsuit?  I get the phishing crap from "Amazon" and "Apple" all the time in my yahoo mail.

:lmao:  these scammers are literally using the plot line word for word from a Black Mirror episode.

This guy Kenny was looking at underage kids online. Kenny’s sister borrows his laptop to go on one of the free movie sites, it installs malware, records Kenny and email threatens him video to send to all of his contacts if Kenny does not do exactly as they tell him the next day.

It’s all BS guys, they get passwords scraped off the dark web that were guessed via brute force and resold and run with the Black Mirror plot line to scam people. Change the password and delete the email.

It says its risk free, that’s hard to beat.
I'm mostly put off by the math.

For your co-operation, we have agreed to offer you 2.5% of the entire amount on conclusion of the transaction while 75% will be for us.

like, where's the other 22.5%? :oldunsure:

Not all people who are in charge of millions are good at math.

We just got a company wide email warning us about this extortion scam going around  (even mentioned including an old password) - although they claim it's targeting executives - and how the emails should not be responded to as it allows an in to the information on your computer.

You could always just keep sending more videos to the email. "This one has much better lighting, this one has a nice camera angle that really adds some depth to the video, oh yea, this third one is good too, I obviously ate something different that week".

Edit, and not noticing someone posting something similar 2 posts earlier. My whole life is a lie.

Or, in my company's case, IT sends it out to see who's dumb enough to fall for it.  "Lucky" employees get to take the phishing training within so many days or have their network privileges suspended until they do.

We've had similar tests also.
