Let's hear em

These don't have to be "great" songs, but songs that you just can't skip over. The songs when you've heard them for the 168,628th time you still turn it up and enjoy.  The songs that either have an impact on your life, take you back to a time or memory, or maybe they're recent stuff you love.

Bonus if they're in different genres, but that's not necessary. It's your list.

I have 500 favorite songs, but off the top of my head from recent listening.

Robert Pollard/Doug Guillard - Pop Zeus

Dylan - Just Like Tom Thumbs Blues

Guided by Voices - Over the Neptune/Mesh Gear Fox

Drive-by Truckers - Shut Up and Get on the Plane

Spiritualized - Stay With Me

Almost had our first repeat. It was either this or that's all.

(I'm curious to see how many repeats we get)
Same, I was going to put it but I actually think the song only works for me for about 5 months of the year. I’m not listening to that song in January.

Sweet Jeebus, only 5 songs?

This will take a little thinking.
That's the idea.

Today, these are the five.  The first two are pretty much the only ones I have set in stone.  Tomorrow, who knows?

Superstition - Stevie Wonder

Where the Streets Have No Name - U2

Under Pressure - Queen & David Bowie

This Must Be the Place - Talking Heads

Ramble On - Led Zeppelin
Very good list of songs that I've been in love with, then couldn't listen to for a while, and finally like again.

Too many to do five. These came to me right away.

Mercy Mercy Me - Marvin Gaye
Sweet Soul Music - Arthur Conley
Good Vibrations = Beach Boys

The length of the song doesn't make it great. But the best ones have it.

Jungleland- Bruce Springsteen

In My Time of Dying- Led Zeppelin

Three Days- Jane's Addiction

Eulogy- Tool

One- Metallica

Really tough...in no particular order

Your Love - The Outfield

Los Angeles - The Midnight

A Thousand Miles - Vanessa Carlton

Back to Sleep - Chris Brown

True Colors - Phil Collins

Arcade Fire - Tunnels

Pink Floyd - Shine on Your Crazy Diamond

Beach Boys - Feel Flows

New Order - Love Vigilante

The Clash - London Calling

Linda Ronstadt - Long Long Time was so close.  As was...

Smokey Robinson - Crusin

Marv and Tammi - You're All I Need

Radiohead - Reckoner

Talking heads - this must be the place (naive Melody)

Marvin Gaye - God is Love into Mercy Mercy Me (2 songs I know)

Neil Young - heart of gold

New Order - Crystal

*Subject to change

It would be a struggle to pick 5 songs of the month, let alone for life. I am really enjoying some songs that I just added to my playlist a week ago, but I have only heard it 10 times vs many thousands for something from high school or longer ago. This is essentially playing 5 songs from my playlist at random, ask again in an hour and they would probably all change.

Tricky - Car Crash

Nine Inch Nails - The Becoming

Connection - X.Lover

Goldfish - Fort Knox

Neurosis - Lost

Samba Pa Ti - Santana

California Dreaming - Mamas & Papas

All Along the Watchtower  - Hendrix

Gotta think of 2 more but wanted to put these up before I forgot them.

Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding

My Ding-a-Ling - Chuck Berry

As has been mentioned, 5 is tough. I tried to hit a few different genres I like so these may not be exactly my top 5:

Tim McGraw - "Angry All The Time"

Nirvana, ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’

Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell – ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’

Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Doggy Dogg, ‘Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang’

Kenny Chesney, "There Goes My Life"

Obligatory video mention on a football website:
