Slot Machine Jackpot Personal Best (1 Viewer)

Just hit my biggest slot jackpot, $11.5K, on a $2.50 bet.  This was a big shock, it was on a Dragon Link slot called Golden Century.   They paid me in cash, I was kinda of surprised, I was expecting a check since it was a large amount.  Biggest slot win I had before was $2K.  I know playing slots is not a smart way to gamble, but it is so entertaining and every once in a while you can get real lucky.    I was a little leery walking out of the casino with that amount of cash.  I did a couple of laps around the floor of the casino to make sure I wasn’t being tailed.    Also, I know you are not required to tip the attendants who bring you your winnings, but I always give them something, not a high percentage like you would a waiter/waitress, but I did give the attendant $120, about 1% of the jackpot.   Anyway, pretty sure  not too many of you care,  but I can’t tell my family or friends about this, they all would be asking me for $$$.    Today was a good day for once.😊

The casino near me gives $55 fee play once a week but on Thursday, it can be more, the most I’ve gotten in free play was $110, but you have a chance to get a lot more than that.  They are trying to get people to come back, they must have lost a lot of revenue due to the virus.  I try to limit my actual loss to $100 each trip, I can always go back the next week, it’s just a little over 1/2 drive.

Congrats! Glad you got out without getting mugged. 😁

A couple stories.

Maybe 20 years ago my boss's aunt won something like $3k from a slot machine in Foxwoods. They actually offered to have a security guy walk her back to her car when she was ready to go.

About 10+ years ago my wife's friend stopped in to visit. First thing she said was, "hey, how do you like my 2 million dollar sweatshirt?" Apparently her sister won around $2 million  from a slot machine in Atlantic City ($100 a pull, I think). She said, 'my sister won $2 million and all I got was this stupid ####### sweatshirt!"

More casinos should do this, at least for winners that are leaving at night. The Sugarhouse in Philly is notorious for people suspected of having a lot of cash on them getting mugged in the parking lot or followed home.

I'm super cheap thrifty so when I go to the casino it is pretty small stakes.  When I got my first job out of college, my boss and I went to a casino on a business trip. On my third play or so on a video poker machine, I hit for $80.  I said "I'm done" and walked around rattling all those coins in a big cup.  As me and my boss were walking out, an older lady was walking out with us with a security guard.  My boss leaned in and said "She hit it big".  So when we got to the elevator, I told my boss "Can't believe I did that well!"  She naturally said "Oh, how did you do?"  I said I'm going home with a $75 profit!  I said "How about you?".  She said "Well, I finally hit it big, I've been coming here almost every day for 3 years, and I hit a $4K jackpot."

I congratulated her, but was really thinking How far in the hole are you, even after a "big" hit.  It made me sad as when you look at those places, you can tell the house always wins.  My boss told me that the $75 was play money and I should keep playing it, but I was relatively newly married in my first job.  I told him "Nope, this is real money.  I can spend it at real places."

TL;DR - Not sure how much you play, but before your big hit do you think you were net positive on all those slots?  I would hope you are now for sure.

If it's an unsafe area or you are uneasy, you can ask for security to the car.  When you're talking over $10K cash and plenty of people saw you with it then I wouldn't be afraid to ask.

When I was learning to count cards and first getting started in all that I used to do some stupid stuff.  I was thinking I was in my 20's and I'd be fine etc.  One of the casinos I used to hit was a Harrah's in Vicksburg MS.  It's not even there anymore now.  But back then if you didn't use the valet you parked in a gravel lot down by the river.  Well, let's just say lighting was sub-optimal.  I remember walking out of there one night with a good bit of cash that I'd cashed in at the cage and about halfway through the walk I remember hearing people walking near me I couldn't see and began thinking, this is a really bad idea.  Who knows who saw you do that or watched you color up at the table, etc.  From then on at that casino I always used the valet and did the walk back through the hotel as the valet would pull it right up to the main entrance of the hotel, which you could access from the casino without ever going outside.

Never really went to the casino more than 2 or 3 times a year until I retired about 2 years ago (I retired at age 55).   I think I might be up around 6K after today.  I watch a lot of YouTube slot channels and even those guys admit they always end up losing $$ for the year.  The hardest part for me is leaving the casino when I’m ahead.    To me, it’s my hobby, I went from running marathons to sitting down and playing a video games, lol.

Last time I was at a casino was about 20 years ago.  Made a weekend trip to Green Bay to catch a Packer game and hit the casino the night before.   Went through $50 in roughly 15 minutes and thought to myself that I could have gotten 5 beers at the game tomorrow with that $50.

Last time I've ever entered a casino and one of the last times I've been to a professional sports event.   Both money sucking rackets.

I don't think I said congrats btw!  I've been at the video game stage a long time, so not sure what I'll drop down to next :)

I would imagine if asked, nearly every casino would do this.

My mom won $18K on a slot machine ~10 years ago.  I guess I never asked if she got cash or a check and if she had an escort out.

Then they took 20 of us to Disney World.

Back in 2001, my wife and I got married in Las Vegas. We were originally supposed to get married on 9/15/2001 but the events that took place earlier in the week didn't allow that to happen.

Anyway, we ended up re-scheduling for 10/27/2001 and since it was a small party, (my parents, my MIL, my brother and his girlfriend, my sister and her wife), it was pretty easy to re-organize. We stayed at the Treasure Island as it was still relatively new, I think it opened in 93, clean and affordable. Right next door was the real ####hole, the New Frontier. It was a dump but we loved going there to gamble as it was right next door and was just a cool place to hang out and gamble for relatively cheap.

We got married at The Little Church of the West, had dinner at Emiril's and then went to the Frontier for some gambling. I enjoy playing video poker and they had a bank there that was a .25 progressive. The progressive was for the Royal Flush and you had to play 6 quarters (instead of the usual 5) to be eligible for it. I had been playing there on and off for a couple of hours when I hit my first (and maybe only?) Royal Flush that paid $3300. That pretty much paid for the whole trip. While we were waiting, my dad sat down at the same machine and hit a Royal Flush but it only paid $1000 because it reset. LOL

I was in Monaco a few years back and wandered into the Grand Casino. I dropped a Euro in the first machine I came to and won €14 on the first pull. I immediately turned and walked right back out. I beat the system and was happy as hell for the rest of the day.

I was on a family trip to a Jersey beach and left for an afternoon to hit AC. My aunt gave me a dollar and asked me to play a slot for her.  First thing I did was play that dollar. It hit around 2k. I did take money for lunch out of it, but gave her the rest.

I have had a few other similar slot hits, but never won a real big.

One of the guys in my local poker game is a big slot player.  He plays the $25 slots all the time, the casino offers him all kinds of deals to come.  He told me he hit for over $100K one time, says it was the worst thing that could have happened because now he just keeps trying to repeat it.
