A US Congresswoman working with other influential power brokers to create a database of Trump supporters to extract retribution at a future time?   Scary stuff

AOC facing heat for wanting to archive online posts by ‘Trump sycophants’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is facing heat for urging her supporters to create an archive of online postings by “Trump sycophants” who may later regret their affiliation with the president.

“Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future?” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Friday.

“I foresee decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future,” the lawmaker wrote.

Commenters quickly decided the list-making endeavor was something a ruthless Communist dictator would love.

“Joseph is proud of you!” one user wrote, referring to notorious Soviet Union dictator Joseph Stalin.

Another person posted a photo of Mao Zedong with the caption: “Big shoes to fill but you’ll get there.”

Ocasio-Cortez received a since-deleted response from an ex-staffer of former President Barack Obama, Michael Simon, who shared a link to a site called The Trump Accountability Project.

AOC slams Dems for missing the mark with Latino voters

The site says it aims to embarrass and hold accountable people complicit in the worst behaviors of Trump’s presidency, including his campaign staff, White House staff, donors and even lawyers.

“The world should never forget those who, when faced with a decision, chose to put their money, their time, and their reputations behind separating children from their families, encouraging racism and anti-Semitism, and negligently causing the unnecessary loss of life and economic devastation from our country’s failed response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” the site reads.

The site’s list of Trump loyalists has not been made public — and besides names, it’s unclear what type of information would be provided.

She put the three supreme court justices that Trump nominated on "her list". I don't know how she keeps public office after this.

Love this...it is like the SNL "more cowbell"..."more AOC" please...we could maybe make these people where scarlet T's as well...

This is really unnecessary right now. Can Nancy call her and tell her to shut the hell up?

So dumb.

I feel like this is one of those asinine literal vs figurative arguments that are only ever pointed out for means of poking to annoy rather than substantive dialog.

Yeah, that probably sounds accusatory toward OP,  but it’s not completely.  It’s the nature of “dialog” in this country as a whole, it’s pathetic and void of critical thought.  I’m not even going to defend what AOC wrote, it was unnecessary from a person in her position, inflammatory at best; essentially the same as what I’m accusing NYPost reaction to it as being.

I’d love for a majority to be able to step back, really look at what they say from an aerial view, and realize it’s all pointless provocation that doesn’t earn value.  Political points are as good as moral victories in sports, they count for nothing and your actual record gets worse.

They are creating a database.

I missed your outrage when this happened:

In a precarious position in the polls and with his focus fixed on the swing state of Pennsylvania, President Donald Trump has had no shortage of criticisms — many of them rooted in falsehoods — for Gov. Tom Wolf.

Most recently, at a campaign rally, Trump criticized Wolf for his coronavirus restrictions and implied he might withhold federal disaster aid in the future.

“I’ll remember it, Tom. I’m going to remember it, Tom,” Trump said before doing an impersonation of Wolf, holding his hand to his ear like a phone. “‘Hello, Mr. President, this is Governor Wolf. I need help. I need help.’ You know what, these people are bad.”

They are creating a database.
Unconcerning to me as “they” are only going to do things that amount to chest thumping, finger pointing, and eye poking.  It’s juvenile, it’s useless, it’s beyond unproductive.  I don’t support it and if my overall message didn’t portray that I apologize.  It should be denounced and then ignored.  I am wholly against any kind of “we’ll show you!” from either side of political spectrum.

I want actual dialog to shine through and this petty Nelson from The Simpsons b.s. to be put in the trash.  It’s stupid.

In other words, I’m simply tired of any version of political competition...that includes this database AND the “see what they’re doing?!” response.  I’m ready to talk policy and leave politics at the door.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez @AOC 17h

Lol at the “party of personal responsibility” being upset at the idea of being responsible for their behavior over last four years.

Why has South Park avoided the cancel culture?  Take away the fact that it's animated and on a medium sized cable network - They go after everyone.  Absolutely everyone.

Why did George Carlin survive without incredible backlash? ( His career even dragged him into the Supreme Court and he was very controversial for his time) He went after everyone. Absolutely everyone.

I'm OK if AOC does this on the caveat she goes after absolutely everyone. That means she starts with Gavin Newsom ( hypocrisy about not following his own COVID guidelines, his kids are in a private school with everyone else has public schools closed, his winery is open and other businesses are closed, the list goes on forever ), Nancy Pelosi ( holding back stimulus for political reasons, infusing it with DNC/Special Interest pork), Lori Lightfoot (  did nothing about the rioting/hid behind 150 cops in her neighborhood where she banned protesting but not for any other area in Chicago), Ted Wheeler and Jenny Durkan for their lack of riot response, Cuomo for racking up a massive body count by turning NY nursing homes into death traps then WRITING A BOOK congratulating himself on being a hero against the pandemic and finally, Ilhan Omar, accused of ballot harvest, immigration fraud through multiple marriages and funneling close to 3 million dollars in campaign money to her "husband's business"

If she's willing to start there and take dessert by going after the Clintons (pick a scandal really) and Obamas ( Iran/No real withdrawal of US forces), then OK, then have at it over Trump, Cruz, Gaetz, Barr, Graham, Cocaine Mitch and all the rest.

And since it's EVERYONE, she's also going to have to go after MSM, social media, Big Tech, Hollywood and even Bernie Sanders.

Do it only for partisan profit, then she's a reborn McCarthy lightweight who displays a shockingly bad understanding of basic economics for someone educated in economics.

Do it against everyone, then she's the hero that she believes herself to be while recognizing the flaws of the lefty echo chamber where being nearly the only DNC "brand name" digital native created the entitlement to think she could outgame the dinosaurs in her party.

This is virtue signalling, expert level.  This woman is so far out of touch from the real world it's laughable!

It's only a matter of time before comedy such as South Park goes away......which makes it must-see tv, imo.

 Non-PC.......This is the way

I don't really know nor feel a need to know alot about AOC.  I can't vote for her.  I wouldn't have voted for her in her Primary....although if she was running against a Republican during the Trump years....I'd have pulled the lever for her......but she wants to create a database so that when say Dr. Gorka steps up and argues about the evils of expansion of  Executive Power in the Biden Administration.....someone can just look Gorka up and get a myriad of quotes to where he felt that expansion of Executive Power under Trump was a good thing and call him on the carpet for his hypocrisy?....and people are clutching pearls at this?

People don't really think the ambitious in Washington and media (be it Left/Right/Conservative/Liberal) don't already do this?  Welcome to the new Millenium.

Yea but a list that is openly being talked about?  I listen to sports talk radio every morning on my way to work where the hosts are abviously liberal.  They seem to always incorporate politics into their show and essentially refer to Trump as a dictator and people who voted for him as P's of S.......this will not help heal anything

If the list of citizens...I would agree...steps over the line.

If the list is making sure they go after politicians who have carried the water for Trump to hold them accountable for their words and actions...that is fair game it seems.

Also...Id find a new show if hosts are calling voters P's of S...

How is this any different than having a database of how politicians voted on specific bills? It also doesn't ####### matter at all. Nobody cares (even Trump) about what other GOP candidates said about him in 2016 and nobody will care in 2024.

Its out in the open versus being hidden? If anything, it could be an effective tool to A) hold politicians/pundits accountable for what they say  or B) get politicians/pundits in there who don't flit in the wind like a leaf and instead have consistent standards and morals....and let's not kid ourselves, AOC put this out there in the open....I bet just about every politician/pundit has something like this; be it in rolodex form/file system or database.

Really on the sports?  Philadelphia is a lot of things....but WIP sports; they make a point to not talk about it.

Agreed in regards to citizen; I think that's troublesome and steps over the line.  Noone needs to catalog that MILFHUNTER420 says "OMG! AOC HAS THE BOOBS BUT NOT BRAINS!!!...CAN'T BELIEVE SHE'S AGAINST GLASS-STEAGAL....SHE HATES MURICA!!!"

Politically, she's self inflicted instant slogans to use against her if she gets the DNC nomination in 2024.

"Elizabeth Warren Is Pocohantas" was utterly devastating and is a good example of this dynamic.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSLFLwsoISI

Charlamagne tha God telling Elizabeth Warren she's 'like the original Rachel Dolezal' was like watching a AC130 Spectre gunship hammer down an anthill.  Then he's interviewed later and says Warren has all these detailed complex laid out strategies and plans for everything but can't answer this simple question with more than immediate abrupt embarrassed deflection. Then he points out if she came clean, people would forgive her, but she doubled down with a bizarre DNA test where white male media pundits said they had more black in them than Warren had American Indian in her.  Given that it was CTG, a minority, and not a typical political operator made it even more brutal.

All of Warren's policies and accomplishments were utterly destroyed in terms of credibility for life. You don't give your political opponents an indefensible slogan that guts your accomplishments/first impression/actual policies into immediate dismissals.

If AOC gets the 2024 DNC nomination, it means she's going to have to survive Pelosi trying to gut her to push Gavin Newsom forward. If she survives that, the GOP will promise Tulsi Gabbard whatever she wants politically to run as an independent. Then you'll have have AOC's status as a minority woman get countered by Nikki Haley as the VP candidate on one end, with Dan Crenshaw and Tulsi Gabbard, both combat veterans, running AOC over with

1) This "McCarthyism List"

2) The 70 Percent Tax

3) That AOC Is A Socialist ( and link socialism to being anti-American)

4) She's A Commoner In Name Only ( Vanity Fair photo shoot with expensive clothes, demanding a raise publicly while Americans are economically destroyed around her, any tidbit they can get on her lifestyle)

There is not a single marketing/crisis management firm in the entire western world that will have AOC survive the optics of getting completely shelled in a debate on all four of those issues by a guy who gave his eye for the American way of life.  Then RNC strategists will get some ambitious DA to eat fire with a later political payoff to go balls hard after Ilhan Omar for campaign finance fraud. This will discredit "The Squad" and work as  a flanking maneuver in the open media during a critical moment in the election cycle.

You've committed political suicide when you self inflict so many indefensible instant slogan points against yourself that you make Gavin Newsom look good in comparison.

AOC was the "future of the Democratic Party" and she just handed Dan Crenshaw the Presidency.  She's given herself zero chance and she's only pushed forward a walking punchline like Newsom into the slot instead. And if Nikki Haley keeps her trajectory, the GOP could hold the POTUS for a 16 year stretch.

AOC is now the Debbie Gibson of professional politics. I've been to plenty of bars in my life and have never met any bartenders this dumb. Then again, I never walked into her bar.

Shake your love! I just can't shake.... YOUR LOVE! Shake your love! I just CAN'T SHAKE... your...love...

I live on the left coast and these guys are out of portland......I listen to them less and less for multiple reasons, not least of which is their politics.  I don't live in their world and I don't want to

There's a thread in here about holding Trump supporters accountable or whatever...

Let's call this what it is.....it's the left, believing Trump is an evil, wannabe dictator, and a moment to call out people who supported him and/or voted for him as supporters of a dictator....or at least pretty damn close to that!

And I think the majority...large large majority were not for doing that and found the thread pretty ridiculous.  (and it looked to be some alias starting such a thread).

I disagree with much of the rest of this...calling out and holding other politicians and even media for supporting some of the more disgusting things Trump has done is not out of line.

He's unpleasant I'll give you that.....but that doesn't make him as bad as the media makes him out to be.  That's my main issue

And I'm just going by what I've seen over the last 4 years and how people equate trump's schtick with pretty much hitler......he's been trolling the whole time.....do I like it?  Not really....I mean at first I thought it was great.....it wore thin pretty quick though, for me.

imo, this is more about the fear from the left.....Trump was a pain in ### before the election and he was going to be taken down by any means necessary......the hatred grew over 4 years, and here we are.

And what I don't buy is this notion that the democratic party is some beacon of hope in all of this.......they are bought and paid for just like the other side of the aisle

You think it’s possible to troll when you have as much power as the President of the United States? One tweet from him gets people death threats. Plus he steamrolled through numerous constitutional issues thanks to a complicit senate. He is literally actively trying to subvert the democratic election process and peaceful transition of power. He has degraded democratic institutions in ways we may not yet fully understand.

But.......bof sidezzzzzz!!!!!

Ok.......

But I thought everything was already corrupt before Trump came into office??

I don't like the guy either, mainly cuz he said he'd drain the swamp and didn't......not that he would've been able to anyway.....that ship sailed a looooong time ago.

I guess it's time for a Dem in the white house....someone who does covert stuff, while making you feel all warm and fuzzy....u know, like slick willie, and Obama

Ok...not as bad as the media makes him out to be is a different issue than holding people accountable for the type of support...like those supporting his rhetoric and platitudes right now.  Is it as bad as the media is making it out to be?  I think it very much is.

Very few make him out as Hitler (especially again talking about the media).  Also...the excuse that he is just trolling is played out...and a cop out.  I don't think its all just trolling...nor does that make some of it any less dangerous.  His words hold power behind them because of the office...using that to troll is also a despicable act.

But much of this does't really address the issue...the supposed accountability...just seems like complaints about the left vs what is actually happening here.

Meh. Seems like lazy thinking. There are real significant policy differences. You make a almost totally clean Obama administration out to basically that they were sneakier. Maybe they jsut did less evil and unconstitutional stuff?

As soon as I entered this thread I was tempted to just skip to the end and say "I don't see a problem with this. What is the problem?". I decided to read on to see if someone would explain it and that was clearly a mistake. I do not see a problem. I assume we're talking about public speech...from gov't officials, political figures, their legal representatives, etc.

I don't follow AOC and, frankly, am consistently bewildered by the right's obsession with her. I wouldn't have been aware of the tweet but what she's saying doesn't seem controversial. It seems like an obvious, common sense thing to me. Is it just controversial because it was AOC that said it?

On the merit of what she said, I actually agree. Some of the statements, on TV and social media, from Trump and those who represent and/or defend him, are pretty obvious bad faith statements, the kind of thing they are likely to want to delete and pretend they never said. So why not document it proactively? It's a no-brainer.

I see above some people are concerned about social media posts from a different set of people - private citizens who aren't normally in the public eye who responded to, retweeted, etc. some public person's statements. They're fair game, imo. If you don't want everyone in the world to know what you think about something (or what you thought about it at a certain time in your life), just don't post it on the internet. Easy. If they did, they did so they can live with the consequences.
