  1. An annual tradition for me the last few years has been to pick an evening in the late spring/early summer when the weather is cool and there are no events on the high school field/track and attempt an all out, fast as I can, one mile run. The only "PR" I remember from my youth was a 5:45 mile my senior year of high school during that national physical fitness exam. In 2013, I was happy to beat that with a 5:33. Last year I ran a 5:28. I noticed tonight that the track was free. The temperature was in the low 50s. A reasonably stiff breeze but it was blowing across the field so I figured I

  2. Yup, open to all FBGs. Damn, I've forgotten all about the calendar. I gotta update that thing.Added a noncompetitive 5K this weekend. Only my second actual 5K since I took up running and generally started getting in shape last year. I haven't really been training but I've successfully overhauled my lifestyle, run a few times a week for a few miles and hit the gym otherwise. My 2015 running goal is modest: get under 30 minutes for a 5K. I did my first one on Thanksgiving in Pittsburgh in frigid weather and got around 33 (I'd have to look it up.) Most importantly, at 5'9" I'm down from about 22

  4. More than 20 years ago, I was the press secretary for the campaign that came closer than anyone else ever has to knocking off Bernie in a race - we held him under 50% of the vote, but still lost by about 3%. My candidate was a liberal Republican, and Bernie was a two-term incumbent Congressman who hadn't yet perfected his shtick, not to mention Vermont hadn't gone as left as it is today. Today, I love him. But back then, I didn't think he was a good representative for our state. With only one Congressman, I believed it was important to have someone who could work collaboratively with others to

  5. Bunch of male guilt in here. This is a show that has show that has had castration, torturing, flaying, rape, sodomy, murder of kids, dragons torching children, kids killing other kids, kids killing adults, and even a dude getting gold melted over his head. But this scene is what pushes it over the top? Just go watch Cailou or Franklin the Turtle or something.

  7. Is someone paying you to build these or were you just bored and you had a lot of straw lying around? Yes. Pretty handsomely too. And you get summers off. That's when we do all of our raping.

  8. Why is it silly to say that seeing a rape scene makes you uncomfortable? You may be comfortable with it, but that doesn't mean it's silly for other people to be uncomfortable with it. Saying it made you uncomfortable is one thing. Complaining about it as being part of rape culture or whatever else IS silly. Of course it made you uncomfortable. Bad things are suppose to make you uncomfortable. If this is the only scene that has made you uncomfortable in this series then you have issues. How many of those scenes did you complain about? Also, another point on this. How in the world is it gratui

  13. Wouldn't saving the Elimination Chamber match(since its not really a PPV anymore) for Summerslam have been awesome? Have Rollins, Brock, Reigns, Orton, Ambrose and Wyatt(or Cena if he lost the US title by then) tear it up in there. Sounds like a waste of a Brock Lesnar match. He don't need no stinking gimmicks.

  17. woof. first red was awfully soft. but no complaints about any of the yellows or subsequent reds. I've actually forgotten- you forfeit at 7 players, or 8? I thought so too at first, but it's possible that he not only chopped him down but then kicked through him when he boots the ball afterward. Watching that I am surprised more red cards didnt come out. This needs to happen more. Each guy that grabbed or touched the ref should get tossed. Got to give the ref credit for not punching half them in the face. I would like to see yellows for anybody besides the captain or player involved even appr

So awesome by the away fans yesterday, down 3-0 and that was all I could hear start to finish the entire secomd half.I actually thought it was the West Brom fans given how how loud they were. Pretty cool. Pa-#######-thetic I highly recommend a second viewing of this one, it gets better. Looking forward to the third viewing tonight! 19. Wasn't there an episode where soldiers went around slaughtering 18 children, many no older than a year old? How about the Red Wedding? The murder of a baby inside it's mothers womb before killing the mother too? Completely innocent people who did nothing at all in any way shape or form. Robb's wife was a noble woman who served the wounded in battle and fell in love. All completely innocent. Sansa isn't innocent. Granted, she has acted both as a child and as someone who had to protect herself from a potential worse fate, but she isn't innocent. If she stood up for her family, there is a

  27. Do you have to wait? Hope not. I mowed, sprayed weeds and fertilized all in the same day Saturday I truly have no idea. Would be good news for me if that were acceptable as I could knock it all out this weekend. Guess I'll just have to break down and actually read the label. Nothing in the label states not to fertilize afterward. If you apply a fertilizer that needs watering in (most do) wait at least an hour after applying the Bayer Advance to water in.

  29. I assume in the end the best USL/NASL teams will end up as MLS expansion teams and the USL/NASL will merge into the second tier of the MLS. Hopefully that will allow promotion/relegation in the MLS. Which would be awesome!!! In fact, I think the USL/NASL should merge now and then the next time the MLS want to expand it should be a promotion battle w/ no relegation in the MLS that year. I love promotion/relegation battles.

  30. We had our annual The Beer Spot get-together last weekend in Indianapolis. Here's the tasting list, put in spoilers as usual because it's massive. We had maybe 20 people pop in over the course of the weekend, with ~8 of us there from Thursday thru Sunday morning. New people are always welcome to join the forum

  31. I'm finding it very hard to take anyone who is/was really disturbed about the Sansa/Ramsay thing seriously. If something like this is "over the line" then you should have stopped watching a long time ago. Did you have the same reaction when Theon had the little kids killed (the ones near Winterfell) or when Theon had his junk cut off or when any of the other numerous horrific things happened?

  33. Sure, but for every example that you list in Westeros, there are a few characters we know that wouldn't do that. So it isn't the norm in Westeros except for #######s like Ramsey and outlaw bandits. Drogo's was the only culture depicted where that seemed to be part of the lifestyle. we rewatched the first episode, where this happens. definitely more apart of the culture as KP says, and less violent when it actually does happen. drogo doesn't rip apart her clothes, he carefully undoes them. tearful resignation is the same for both women- but the drogo/dany scene gets cut before any screaming

  34. That's the problem with discussions that touch on race. There are always people who either mentally or emotionally cant deal with verifiable facts so they name call or scream "Racist" as a means of coping. You pretend to be an intellectual, but name calling as a means of turning attention away from a verifiable fact in not very intellectual. I'll tell you what, I'll pose the same challenge to you that I did Apple Jack, but we'll put stakes on it. If you can find me a city with a black population of 65% or greater that has a low crime rate, I'll leave this board forever. But if you can't, t

  36. I have a great pair of Crocs that I only wear around the house like slippers. They are incredibly comfortable, and have a nice sole that has a really good grip. Since I never wear them outside, looks don't matter. I love the non-slip sole on the regular Bistros that I have, but the no holes thing is rough. I only wear those in the restaurant. I go with the Classic Croc for beating around the house (and doing a bunch of other things because it doesn't bother me to wear ugly rubber shoes in public).

  38. Sad part is I really don't think the ACA was passed to get more people on health insurance. Initially yes. Long term, I don't believe that is the end game. Government controls your health care, they control a lot of your life. IRS going after the tea party is chump change compared to what they can do, or not do for you & your family. I'm mainly speaking medically & health wise here. Hopefully not as bad as I surmise, but I'm very jaded when the Feds say they know better than me, what is good for me. It's usually the opposite. Call me unusually suspicious when the president has to t

  40. I think you might be confusing the Kentucky Derby crowd with The Preakness crowd. No, I'm pretty sure I know what the corporate scene at the Preakness is like. Yeah, but every major sporting event has The Haves and The Have-Nots in attendance. The Preakness has way more Have-Nots than Haves, and a higher percentage of Have-Nots than other major sporting events with higher ticket prices. Besides, shouldn't the rich be able to go to sporting events unmolested? And the reason why people don't care about Baltimore post-riot is not because rich people can now go to sporting events unmolested. I

As the dark and mysterious stranger approached, Angela bit her lip anxiously, hoping with every nerve, cell, and fiber of her being that this would be the one man who would understand – who would take her away from all this – and who would not just squeeze her boob and make a loud honking noise, as all the others had.
