  1. Doing my first ever Turkey Trot at 7:30 in south Florida.

  3. 5K Turkey Trot for me today. This was my first race since I ran a 10K in June. I originally planned to run more races this fall but training was hard with the hot and humid summer we had and I never felt like I was at a good racing fitness level. Anyway, my mom wanted to run the Turkey Trot this year so I agreed to run it too. Otherwise, I wouldn't have. Last Saturday I decided to run on the treadmill so I wouldn't have to deal with 25 mph + winds and realized that I couldn't remember running a 6:00 mile in many months. I realized that I didn't have a good idea of what kind of pace I

  4. My wife and son (5yo) were messing around on snapchat last night before bed. They'll usually send little videos back and forth with my SIL and niece. This time they've got a filter on that puts cute little deer ears and noses on them and changes their voice to a high pitch. My wife hits record and... Wife: I love you... KanilJr: I will eat your soul... Wife: Playing it back with the high pitched voice, coupled with my kid missing his 4 front teeth made it one of the creepiest things I've seen. Edit: Poor quality but was able to figure out how to get it to youtube.

  5. Honestly feel like I have a bunch of new "friends" because of this thread. So to all of you that made the last two weeks so much fun, happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your day

  6. Barely getting through the day myself. It's kind of different for me because we never built any thanksgiving memories with Riley but it's still so hard. Today is actually 3 months since she's gone. Thinking of you today and I hope you get through the day as best as possible.

  7. He's been more then pretty ok. He's on pace for a very solid statistical season in real life and fantasy. He is THE reason that the bucs are winning lately. Look at the talent around him after Evans. Cecil shorts? Russell Shephard. Cameron Brate? Martin has essentially missed the entire season. He's had a hodgepodge of mostly backup and 3rd string undersized rbs. The O line does give him a ton of time. All role players and not a ton of top flight talent there. And yet he finds ways to scramble and make huge plays every week. I watched the game vs KC last week and came away s

  8. Thanksgiving dump Oh yeah. Sorry about that Ok, franklin, you sit over here. I was overserved But not as overserved as this guy When are you going to get a real job? Who else has today off from work And now the 3 wise men. um billy where did you get that. They've already started putting out Christmas decorations

  9. Let's lose the West talk. It's not relevant. The Chiefs O-line has to do better for any of them to matter. Chief RB's used to saunter in the end zone untouched on first and goal from the 1. No more. They need to be more physical. Too cute with Alex Smith. I get the West Coast offense, but 25-31 for 180 doesn't cut it. No threat to stretch the field, safeties are up, running game gets stuffed. Hope it changes. Still mentally hard for me to sit a Chief starting RB. Maybe have to let go of the memories of Priest, Larry and Jamaal

  10. Completed my first Turkey Trot. I was excited to come in here and post the results until I seen the times posted. I PR'ed it by about a minute. 22.48 was my final time. 7.21 pace per mile. 600 people, I finished 46th overall and 10th for my age group. 1st overall was a high school kid at 18 flat. This thread inspires me a bit to get out and run. It's nice to have a place to come back in and brag about your small accomplishments. Great runs and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

  11. Ran a Turkey Trot in Massachusetts today. Woke up this morning and saw there wasn't rain in the air, so i got up and got dressed and headed out. Wasn't sure how it would go as I had only run twice (9 total miles) since my marathon 2.5 weeks ago. 30 minute drive to a race I had no idea of size or race course. Signed up and got my bib #1658. It was an hour before race time and I asked how many runners did they expect. She said 1500 or so. I was surprised as it had a small race feel. Temp was about 30 with a bit of a breeze. DId a warm up for 1.5 miles and then str

  17. True story: @Sebowski can vouch for it. About 2 1/2 yrs ago, Roma were playing Fiorentina, & Gervinho missed two absolute sitters...Sebo & I were the only two in the thread, both following said game. After the 2nd miss, I told Sebowski, "Watching this guy is a serious threat to my sobriety! ( I had 4 yrs of sobriety then)......... As for the rest of the story, well, you all know. If you can't laugh at yourself, well then, others will do it for you. Amirite, guys? Happy Thanksgiving, paisans!

  18. 18 weeks today since my wife passed away. Been a tough week as tomorrow would have been our 22nd wedding anniversary. Picking my son up from college tomorrow and we are spending the day with friends of mine. Doing ok otherwise. Signed up for a free Match.com account just to gauge what's out there. Don't think I'm truly ready to dive in completely, just testing the waters. Wednesday night the church my wife belonged to is having a Feast of All Souls mass and she will be remembered. I'll probably go even though the church/religion thing is outside my comfort zone. She wouldn't

  20. I never cared what a beer looked like. I don't think it should be a factor at all. I still mostly feel that way so it annoys me when people look for haze just like it annoyed me when people would turn their nose at a beer that wasn't clear ten years ago. It annoys me further to see all these breweries dive head first in to it to be trendy. They aren;t al doing it it to be trendy, but trust me, there are a lot who are. More to what really matters though: I can't drink them in my normal drinking habits. I drink by the pint. These popularized hazy beers are all too yeasty for me. They taste

  21. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Ran a 5k this morning and now watching some football after polishing off a bottle of the Beaujolais nouveau. Good times. 3 days to go.

  22. I absolutely love them. But I also love a good crystal clear West Coast IPA. I know a lot of professional brewers feel that it's lazy or somehow cheating to skip the filtering / clarifying steps, but IMO it's not like hazy / unfiltered beers are anything new. Drink what you like, I say.

  26. Nice race, Jux! My strava feed is blowing up with turkey trots and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous. But the good news on my front is that I have found another activity that doesn't irritate my tendinitis. Doing some work on the treadmill with some serious incline. I'm working pretty good but without the pounding. I start out with 13% and 3.6 mph and then change it up every mile or 10 minutes or so. Occasionally I'll throw in a mile @ 5% and 7 mph. End of the workout I've gone around 3.5 - 5 miles and 2000 ft of gain. So far so good.

  27. True, but if you're a typical homeowner it seems like overkill. The drills themselves may last, but the batteries certainly won't. And DeWalt have had complaints in the past about their batteries (mostly NiCad I think). But with battery technology constantly changing, when your battery dies (and not will), it probably makes sense for most owners just to replace the drill with a new one with new battery technology rather than replace the battery. That's assuming you buy a cheaper drill to begin with.

  36. I just bought 3 expansion pack DLCs but I didn't know they would automatically install and start up and be part of my current game. When I came out of the ratway in Riften I had an entire line of people waiting for me. A courier for a Jarl somewhere offering me a house, a guy who wanted me to hunt vampires (sign me up!) and that started Dawnguard, a courier with an offer to adopt children (oh hell no) , and then two guys waiting patiently at the end of the line who turned out to be cultist who aggroed and tried to kill me

  44. To follow up on this, had a pretty rough weekend internally. Ended up going to the ER yesterday and spent the day there getting some blood work done and a CT scan. Turns out I have some inflammation that right now can be treated by two antibiotics. So I still have to follow up with the GI doctor in a few weeks, but it is possible that what is going on could be caused by a simple virus/infection. So that is good news for sure. And the blood work and CT scan came out well - nothing glaring. The main downside is that I cannot drink alcohol with one of the antibiotics, so no beer over t
