  1. I flew to California from Chicago after my grandfather died to scatter his ashes up on June Mountain. Had to take Papa with me in the suitcase. He was in a pewter/metal urn. I knew damn well they would see this giant metal cylinder object on the X-ray and open up my suitcase so after wrapping the thing in bubble wrap and multiple layers of plastic wrap and tape I taped a not to it - ‘Human Remains. Please Do Not Disturb’ When we got to California I opened the suitcase and sure enough - TSA note was in there with a hand written note at the bottom of the form letter ‘we didn’t touch it. Sor

  7. I dont agree that this is an overpay at all.....at #6 they easily could have been jumped by Buffalo and had zero QBs at #6......they had no choice but to overpay a bit as Buffalo was probably dangling 2 1st rd picks and then some.....they now have their choice of the top 2 or 3 QBs in a much agreed 4 blue chip QB draft....and they gave up 2d rd picks and not a 1st for the jump up! The Jets have hit on a 2d rd pick about every 15 yrs...no joke.....I view it as a small price to pay to take a franchise QB they have to have,,,,Im a big fan of the deal and give Mac kudos for trading up....I think

  8. Three hours on Saturday during March Madness is all day. Had to pick them up, get them home, yadda yadda yadda, disconnect the old stuff, scrape 13 years of clothing tags and old pennies off the floor, etc., run an empty load to make sure it was all working, etc. The real delay was that my dryer hookup is a 3-prong, and the new one had a 4 prong. Would have been easy to swap the cords except whoever put the 4 prong cord on had way overtightened one of the wire connections, to the point where the threaded nut on the back was broken loose, and stripped, which made it ridiculously com

  9. 1. The price for number two was probably higher than the price for number 3. That's not surprising. Maybe the colts approached the jets, maybe the jets never approached the giants, maybe the giants wanted more. Don't know, doesn't matter, except in the sense that the giants might be planning to stay put and take a quarterback. 2. I am not convinced that they know which players will go ahead of them. I'm not convinced they know whether the giants are going to stay at 1.2, or if the giants know, either. I am convinced that they want to lock up a top 3 qb. And they might have felt

  10. Worked all day swapping out old washer/dryer for a like-new set my sister’s friend was selling. Got all that settled, have an empty house, and sat down to watch the game. Phone rings and it is somebody wanting to come get our old dryer. Hang up and head back to the couch (I pace around when I’m on the phone), to find the puppy has knocked over my Yuengling (had to buy it because it just became available this week) and nearly drowned two iPads and every conceivable remote in the house. Switching to bourbon. This could potentially turn out to be a point in the dog’s favor, but right

  11. So we've now spent a MONTH deciding on the color of new hardwood flooring. (While not having a master bathroom to use) The rep has been to our place twice with samples. Four times we have been to their showroom and brought home samples. Nothing matches our cherry cabinets. It's total insanity. On the fourth and last visit to the showroom Thursday, we had half of the showroom floor strewn with samples and she brought in our kitchen cutting board because the end of the piece matches our cabinets. And she still couldn't decide. To be fair, we had decided FOUR times before and she chan

  13. The point was to see if you were a big enough rube to fall for their lowball crap. Congrats though. You won. Or, y'know....this. We are absolutely identical in this. If you have 60 items on your menu, you probably are serving about 58 ####ty items. But its impossible to know which 58 are lousy, and you can't just use the ol' "don't buy trout from a steakhouse" measuring stick when you can't even begin to guess if the place is a barbecue joint, or a fried chicken shack, or a seafood place. Food trucks and "abuela's kitchens" get it....make three or four

  16. It’s a very meaningful area for my family. My mom and dad met there. My dad skied the mountain. My grandparents lived there for 15 years. They owned the Union 76 station in Lee Vining in the 70s (the one right on the other side of Tioga Pass - not sure what is is now). My grandmother, grandfather and dad are all scattered up there.

  18. Exactly. Woodhead outplayed McKnight (RIP) by far that preseason but they kept McKnight over him to save face because Tannenbaum spent a 4th round pick on McKnight while Woodhead was an UDFA.

  19. Sometimes I don't trust the "not outplaying" someone. Sometimes, the coaches decisions are influenced by vet vs. rookie, contract, draft pick, etc. Maybe sometimes the light doesn't switch on until true game conditions. The Rex Ryan Jets had Danny Woodhead. What happened? The kept that tease WR Clowny over him, iirc. Woodhead didn't outplay Shonn Greene or Joe McKnight? I find that almost impossible to believe. I realize it's years ago and another staff, but it speaks to reasons why some guys might play over others that is not 100% performance based. I do think at some point last year, th

  20. The Blount deal seems OK. It's actually $2.5M plus incentives - originally it was reported as $4.5M which seems high for a 32 y.o. RB - and it fills a role. They'll still draft an RB in the 3rd. I'll be disappointed if we don't start the draft with two front 7 picks. Glad they franchised Ezekiel given the current market. Not sure I understand the thinking on TE ATM. Michael Roberts made progress during the 2017 season according to the coaches but I'll be shocked if we roll into TC with him as our starter. In Bob we trust, right?

  21. Who we have picked in the second round in the past or after we traded into the top five is not relevant today. The only potential correlation is who McCags has drafted. His track record with draft QBs is not stellar. It's pretty good with pro-QBs. That said, the quality of QB in the top 3 is much higher than the crap he drafted later in the draft like Hack.

  25. I can't think of any particular reason to do it that way. Maybe it's chronological in the timeline but I can't think of anything you'd gain by it. I'd just go: Daredevil 1 Jessica 1 Daredevil 2 Luke Cage Iron Fist Defenders Punisher Jessica 2. As I mentioned, Claire is present in all of them. I joke that if someone were to ask what the Netflix Marvel series are about, I'd start with, "well, there's this nurse..."

  26. My wife almost always ends up wanting what I ordered. I'm fairly protective of my food and not a good "sharer" when it comes to my restaurant meals. So it becomes a bit of a pout and complain from her while asking for yet another bite and how good it is - and how she should have ordered it. I have suggested that she order what I order for over 30 years now.

  30. I also woke up this morning on a friend’s couch. No recollection of how I ended up there. Phone was dead. I did the walk of shame home. Once I got back to stately Epic Manor, Mrs Epic was epically upset with me. It appears that I never told her that I wasn’t coming home.

  31. That's the cheapest move up to the top 3 ever. It was a great deal for them to move ahead of a pick that is likely getting shopped for a qb. The Giants now have the most valuable pick at 1.2, but they can only trade it if they're willing to drop out of the top 10. They might not want to do that, or if they do they will make a team pay up. The browns at 1.4 have a valuable pick but can't trade it until the giants trade or pick, and the giants won't help them out by declaring their intention because they want to maximize their trade value leading up to draft day. Nobody will pay more

  35. Finally got my resume together, sent it out on about a dozen possible jobs... and today my firm told me they apologize for how long it's taken getting my partnership offer together, they want to have it include what will happen to give me the entire firm in a few years, and they expect to have a full proposal by tax day. Also, I'm being recruited to run for mayor of my town. What a weird day.

  38. of course but as a Jet fan Im used to blowing 2d rd picks so im fine with dealing a few to possibly get a franchise QB vs a 1st.....and totally agree - no faith in Mac drafting a QB late but this seems to be a consensus 4 blue chip QB draft so Im much more confident....

  40. Why not? We have no idea if Eli will be playing another 2-3 years. You don't pick at #2 very often. And when you do, and you have a 37 y/o qb on the decline, you use that opportunity to take your next guy.

  43. I would have to think the Jets believe the Giants are not taking a QB which is why they’d make that deal now. Obviously they don’t really know for sure. The Giants could stand pat because they really want Barkley and know he wouldn’t be there at 6.

  46. Updates from the 4 household: 1. Mr. krista was suddenly and unexpected promoted to Executive Chef at his restaurant at the beginning of last week. It was particularly shocking because he had stopped chef-ing for them a while back. He's been working 14-15 hour days but has already been getting heaps of praise for everything so far from customers and staff, in particular for helping to turn around morale there. If any PNWers (or @cosjobs) want to go there sometime, let me know. It's on the Olympic peninsula and right on the water, so will be especially beautiful as we go into spring a
