  1. This seems like as good as time as any to break my 9 year lurking streak on this board. I'm stunned and bummed out. But not a chance in hell I would've booed the guy if I was at that game tonight. Or any other night for that matter. He was fun to watch, played hard and he owes me nothing. I can't blame him for not wanting to potentially spend another year rehabbing. If I was 30 years old and had that kind of scratch, with a degree from Stanford, I'd probably do the same. I've suffered through Jack Trudeau, Jeff George and Curtis Painter. (With an all-timer mixed in the

  2. Pretty spot on- @mikefreemanNFL: Past decisions of the Colts to not draft any ####### linemen ruined one of the best quarterback prospects of his generation.

  5. Despite it being in the South and August, it is a perfect, almost chilly day today. 73° and beautiful. 33:50 in the swim, 1:12 bike, 44:29 run. 2:30:40 overall. 2nd in the illustrious 40-44 AG. 23/165 male. the bike felt crappy but the run felt great. Swim, I'm a drunken sailor I love this race. A bunch of college kids competing here, Alabama, Clemson, USC, Auburn, Mississippi State, a few others representing. Got passed by an Auburn dude at the start of the run but made sure I beat him. Got passed at mile 3 by a 48 yo woman. I think I'm in love (I did pass her by mile 5, she d

  6. Really going to miss this twitter account. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Captain Andrew Luck (Ret.)‏ @CaptainLuck_Ret FollowFollow @CaptainLuck_Ret To My Men of War — I pray you, do not be afraid. As you forge ahead in battle with Lieutenant Brissett, remember the war we fought, and the victories won. There’s no time to fret as an electric storm lies ahead and we battle in the west. We must emerge true. Hopeful. — Andrew EDIT The above is fake, this is the real account. ---------------------------------------------------------------

  7. Luck is smarter than your average guy. Maybe he’s had struggles with pain management like Favre and didn’t want to be reliant on pain killers forever. Who knows. There’s probably more to the story here and it’s really none of anyone else’s business. I get fans being upset about the timing, but to boo him off the field is beyond ridiculous.

  16. I’m a huge fan of Duke. I think he was mis-used in Cleveland and I definitely think he can be “the guy” in Houston. My biggest concern is their horrid line play, not his size or ability to carry the ball.

  17. Entitlement. Great word. You're right of course. Luck should be publicly flogged. Little children should throw eggs at him when he walks down the street. How dare he?

  18. Why is everyone so convinced that Duke is merely a CoP back? Because Cleveland used him that way? He has relatively prototype RB size and was a workhorse his last year in college.

  19. And we're back! In 2016, 2017 and 2018 we had a thread that folks seemed to find valuable so I am starting another version for 2019 - it's a living, ongoing list of potential King Makers - the idea is to be PREEMPTIVE on RBs most likely sitting on the Waiver Wire (depending upon league size, sharks or guppies, etc.). The definition of this thread is generally re-draft. To paraphrase @TZMarkie from 2016: "This is for re-draft and we are looking for the ones with the best combination of availability, upside and possibility of a big workload. That combination would likely give the aver

  20. I feel like there are some people getting off without any criticism here and IMO they should be criticized. The first is whoever leaked Luck's retirement to Schefter. That was an incredibly crappy and petty thing to do. There was zero reason to not just let Luck inform his teammates and go out the way he wanted. The disrespect in leaking the news to Schefter is disgusting. Speaking of, I know it's his "job" and in today's world speed is everything, but Schefter breaking the news when he did was really crappy. That timing is what lead to the (presumably minority) of Colts fans to take the

  23. God speed Andrew and thanks for putting it all on the field and being a great guy on and off the field. Thanks for all the great memories, I will very much miss watching him play. And please don’t lump all the wonderful Hoosiers with a few drunk knuckleheads, hell, this was a preseason game, how many season ticket holders go to those games? I think the thing I’m most disappointed about is that, with the way it was leaked, he didn’t get a proper opportunity to deliver his retirement in a dignified and appropriate way to the fans. He was clearly blindsided by the leak, it was uncomfort

  29. I just wanted to say that I am very impressed and thankful for how this draft is going so far. Certainly there has been some dramatic and funny moments--but things are progressing at a much faster rate that I could have guessed. Definitely need to give @Binky The Doormat, @flapgreen, @psychobillies, @Aerial Assault, and every other owner in the league some props for this. Well done so far guys.

  32. Good for Luck. Indy is not going anywhere this year and Luck is a rich man and set for life. Why subject your body to more torture? I think you will be seeing more of this in the future. Would not be surprised if Matt Stafford is the next one to call it quits early.

  37. Ever wonder if there's any correlation between Watson getting sacked a league-high 62 times and throwing to his RB's a league-low 13.8% of the time? Is Duke's presence going to trend both of those numbers in the right directions? The first number has a few extra factors to add in - OL and Watson's decision-making, but the second number is all but guaranteed. For those saying Lamar's injury will make no real difference in Duke's usage, I totally disagree. The minute Duke was signed, his role as the passing down back was solidified. And the minute Lamar went down, he became, at worst, t

  40. It's a risk/reward thing. Elliott may not be worth the risk of 1.01, because you can get similar production from Barkley or Kamara. But at a certain point in the draft, Elliott becomes worth the risk. It's kind of like having a knucklehead player on your "Do Not Draft" list. You'd never draft the guy in the first 10 rounds, but if you find him available in the 17th round of course you're going to take a flyer.

  41. I agree. But whomever the time share will more likely be closer to 50/50 with Duke getting more runs than he would have before plus receptions.
