  1. Unofficially 39:09, good for a new PR and 6th overall. Not sure where I placed in my AG. Probably could’ve/should’ve gone sub-39, but I didn’t have the Gian-nads to push any harder. So be it. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving. ETA: I won my AG.

  2. 18:57 chip time, 18:51 on Garmin. Definitely a PR. Popped my hamstring at .75 miles in. Literally felt like I got sniped. Hopped up and had to make a choice. Said ##### it and pushed through it. Not good for my training. Oh well, I’m going to start pounding the liquor. Enjoy the day, fellas!

  4. 4 Miler official results - 29:15 99/3139 overall 78/1414 gender 18/258 M30-39 Fun local race. I wanted to get sub-30 minutes as my goal once I decided to actually race it. It was windy out there and I knew that miles 2 and 3 were going to be into the wind and 1 and 4 we were going to have it at our back. Tried to bank some time in mile one and was able to maintain the pace for 2 and 3. With the wind behind me, mile 4 was a PR at 6:58, which was a bit of a surprise. Very happy with this race overall! #projectcadence - average of 170 My garmin watch was

  6. OK. I said one week at the max. Today is one week, I think. Anyways, I have taken @Sinn Fein 's commentary here of the Mayor Pete event and added it to my photo page. I also added a foreword and wrap up covering my night. First draft. Lemme know if you see any errors. 8. Happy Thanksgiving fellas. I'm thankful to you guys to have a group of people who support my running and understand the mental ups and downs that runners have to put up with. Many thanks and hope you each have a wonderful day with your families. MY UPDATE -- motivation continues to be low as I try to heal this hip. I will try to run later this afternoon for a few miles to keep the legs moving.

  9. I feel like the opposite. Injury after injury. It’s the same leg as my nerve issue. I’ve been down the hammy road before. Not too concerned about this one. Some slow miles for a bit shouldn’t bother it too much. Really proud of myself today. It was a test of character, I made sure to remind myself who I was out there today.

  10. I watched The Irishman tonight and Joe Pesci demonstrates how a mob boss gives orders- he hints, he gives meaningful looks, he uses innuendo, but he never comes out and gives a direct blatant instruction- but despite that when he is taped doing this the Justice Department is able to convict him. Why? Because the jury can use common sense; they know what’s going on.

  11. I am thankful to be back as a part of this community. Most of all, thanks to @Joe Bryant @David Dodds @Maurile Tremblay and all those who provide us with this platform to be thankful for. There truly is no other place like it, family squabbles and all.

  12. unlike most 80heads, i do not celebrate the obscure. one of the great things about the decade is that everything worthy pretty much hit the surface. lots of this-is-me trash which does not sustain but to point more-talented others in the right direction that said, the best 80s acts who might never have been icons and certainly are no longer are Thomas Dolby, Los Lobos, English Beat/General Public, Was/Not Was, Fishbone. I consider XTC & Devo icons. ETA: oh, and i'm a freakatron for Terence Trent d'Arby and early Bobby Brown

  13. You've identified the problem. My friend's wife is making him run a 5K at 7 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. My girlfriend is friends with her and signed me up without my knowledge because they convinced themselves it would be fun. He and I were at a bar and he was complaining about having to do this stupid thing. I called my GF, said "Hey, I have no interest in doing this 5k thing and I'm not doing it." She said, "Ok." He looked at me like I was an alien. He went home and told his wife he wasn't doing it. They've been fighting for 3 days. I'm so happy I'm divorced.

  14. Are you suggesting that a guy who was fined $25M for running a fake university and $2M for running a fake charity might not be genuinely concerned about corruption?

  15. This is an exciting time to be rooting for the bears. Their remaining schedule looks pretty easy and I don't see any scenario in which they won't run the table. At Detroit (against a no name QB): easy, dominant win At home against the Cowboys: could be tough, but it's at home in likely difficult conditions, which usually favors the team with the better defense. Gritty win. At the Packers. Always interesting, but Green Bay is immensely overrated and unlikely to go very far if they even make the postseason. Easy, dominant win. Vs. The Chiefs. Could be tough but they haven't l

  18. I'm 52, so I went to high school and college in the 80s. I love a lot of music from that decade. A colleague of mine who is only 7 years older than me thinks that 80's music sucked. Overall, he has great taste in music so it surprised me that he had dismissed an entire decade of music so close to his own high school/college wheelhouse. So I made him this playlist of some of my favorites. 21. The "comparing Trump supporters to ISIS" bit is extraordinarily easy to match. Obama and his wife fist-bumped on stage and Fox called it a "terrorist fist jab." A Fox News contributor called Obama "Osama" and said he should be assassinated along with Bin Laden. Here's Tom Fife saying liberals and ISIS have a lot in common two years ago. And you think it'd be hard to match articles claiming what the media got wrong during the Russia investigation? Have you watched any right wing news? Some of them still think Ukraine hacked the DNC server, Crowdstrike is run by a Ukraini

  26. This is awful. I think that when any person just tries to troll another and see what kind of reaction they can get. I don't like it here either. We can't do anything about others promoting stuff like this. We can do something about it here. Thanks.

  27. I’m thankful for another year around the sun with the love of my life. We’ve known each other all our lives (well, since we were 14 or so) and there is nothing in the world like being loved by someone who’s seen you at your very worst and your very best, particularly when your birth family isn’t really like that. On a similar note, I’m thankful for this place. And I hope everyone here knows that even those with whom I argue, disagree, squabble, and shout on occasion, if you somehow got my number and called me at 2 am on a Wednesday and said you were in trouble, I would pry myself o

  29. When Gore left the 49ers five years ago, he had 11,079 yards rushing. Corey Dillon, Edgerrin James, Steven Jackson, and Fred Taylor all had more yards rushing than that and are not in the Hall of Fame. So by tacking on 4-5 more years where he has had between 722 to 1,025 yards rushing per season with 3.9 ypc and no more than 6 touchdowns, is that the difference maker that elevates him to a Hall-of-Famer? Never in his career did he have a season with more than 10 rushing touchdowns. In his career, he had only one season with more than 1,214 yards rushing. He was never once first-team All-P

  33. I have noticed a change in Pulisic tactics wise when playing for Chelsea vs playing for Dortmund. I don't know if it player or coach driven. At Chelsea, Pulisic is far more likely to cut in towards goal when dribbling on the left, vs at Dortmund he held wide a lot looking to make a cross. Also, Pulisic seems to get deep inside the box when ever the attack is coming from his opposite side when playing for Chelsea. This has allowed him to pick up some tap in goals as he is not being well marked on these runs. GGG's biggest responsibility imo is figuring out how to get the most o

  39. I'll start with Skateaway by Dire Straits, 1980. There's a lovely atmospheric quality to so many of their songs, this one has that in spades. In particular, the guitar work towards the end is really wonderful. Hardly ever hear this one out in the world anymore. Wasn't even a huge hit when it came out, making it "only" to 56 at its peak. Also there's the video, which is simple and understated yet entertaining. And of course the lead rollergirl, Jayzik (Jay) Azikiwe is dead sexy skating her way through the clip. Sadly she died back in 2008, but she's immortalized here for as long as we
