  1. I attempted suicide about 4 months ago now. I went through a brutal divorce. One that completely blindsided me due to her infidelity. I was in therapy and medicated for the past 2 years just to help mask a lot of pain. I retired in February at a younger age (37) with the dream of seeing the rest of the world. I had an open ended ticket booked starting in Sweden. About a week into my trip, I was ordered by the President to basically come home or face uncertain reentry into the US. So for the past 6 months, I sit here, doing nothing, in my house with no ability to socialize or volunt

  2. I feel I owe the thread a little update/apology. Just not feeling it at all lately. Taking a break. Dealing with stuff at home, mostly kids and school and need to focus my time/attention there. Doesn't mean I can't run while doing that, but right now, I need a break. My wife is already back at it and is even targeting trying to do marathon #2 at the beginning of next year. I don't understand why but letting her do her thing. Sorry I haven't been in here much or on Strava and it might be a little until I'm back consistently, likely November. But still thinking of you guys.

  3. I have some good news about Calcomatic.com - I was able to get the MFL data to work!!!!!! Big props to @Alberta Clipper for doing all the leg work/research/setup on the MFL side of things! However, some work still needs to be done. Primarily I need to load all the FBG entries in the contest, still waiting to get that data from FBG. For now, I have 32 "entries" setup based on the NFL teams - so all the Steeler players are on entry # 27 for example. Typically I do this during pre-season to ensure I have all the mappings between FBG, calcomatic, and the source for stats (MFL this year)

  4. Went out for a run last night to shake off the cobwebs, and of course get a call a mile in from a real estate agent. So ended up with a mile run, mile walk, and then a 1.34 mile run. So, an update on the moving idea: right now we have expanded our search to the Wisconsin area as well - near where I go muskie fishing every year with my uncle. There seems to be more homes available there, plus I'd be closer to family (and @gruecd) and my brother would only be about 5 hours away in north Chicago. Plus all the Chicago crew would be close for possible meet-ups for races and such down the lin

  8. I didn't say anything about it, but my L ankle was a little balky late last week. Didn't think it was over compensation related (injury is R hip) but I have paid more attention to it than usual and added an unplanned off day running just to be sure. XC Tuesday night went off without a hitch, as did yoga Wed am, then my easy run Wed pm, and my upper body workout Wed evening. So I decided to cut it a little loose in spurts yesterday as I explored those undulating, rooted, and at times steep hills with tight turn and creek crossing single tracks I have sorely missed. No problems during, after, no

  10. My cousin freaked out (to the point of panic attacks) because "my children's grandparents went through the Holocaust". She had been brought to hysteria by liberal hyperbole that Trump was a white supremacist leader who was going to usher in a Nazi regime of sorts. Just like you people are freaking out that somehow Trump is going to be able to resist the results of the election. If he fights it, he will lose and be ousted with as much disgrace as he has portrayed throughout his presidency.

  11. Hey gang! It's great catching up on this thread - lots of people doing really well (some not so much...). Just an update - The wife and I put on a good deal of Covid weight - she's doing Jenny Craig now (down 15 lbs in 7 weeks) and I'm going full blown keto (down 22 lbs. in 8 weeks). I got up to about 225 at one point, which just sucks for me. My ideal weight is in the low 190's. I'm at 203 now, so making great progress and feeling skinny again. @Otis, I'm not sure where you are with things exactly, but like you, I love eating and drinking. Through this whole thing I haven't cou

  12. 34. Roxy Music “Love is the Drug” (from Siren) https://youtu.be/0n3OepDn5GU This might be the most influential song on the entire list, as so many bands in the decade to come would imitate its funk, bass driven sound. One of the progenitors of New Wave. Oh yeah: and it’s also a great tune.

  13. Started him all 3 games so far, but last night was my first chance to see him in action and he did not disappoint! I watch zero college football, don't watch the draft, and don't pay attention to the combines... so I only see what I see on the field in limited NFL action: * Don't know about break away speed, but he seems to have excellent quickness and balance in the hole * Power is there as well... low center of gravity probably helps... saw him get extra yards out of a lot of finished tackles last night * Field vision is great; hitting cutbacks, nose for the gaps and goal

  15. I gotta say this thread has become way too preachy and not nearly supportive enough for me (and spare me the "preachy is supportive" stuff). Everyone has different ways they need encouragement. One size fits all doesn't...ummm, fit. Not intended toward anyone in particular, but if you're making changes, no matter how "small," to be healthier, then I applaud you and support you. k4out.

Weather here was surprisingly great today, but tomorrow looks very bad, so I'll probably be more available then. 178. John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band - Well Well Well (John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, 1970) Spotify YouTube (John #37) Tough, hard, fierce. Love this rocker from John, with that low-register vocal at the beginning that I would have told you was Paul if I had to guess. Of course, when the verse kicks in, it’s all a pure John sound, even before you get to the shrieking.

One of the guys rents a UHaul and brings up a full kitchen - smoker, griddle, charcoal BBQ, deep fryer, pizza oven, etc - I eat better camping than I do at home. fishing tourney, horseshoes, explosives - good times. 25. Week 4, Day 3 of pushup challenge - 29, 33, 29, 29, 40. Set 1 - I felt completely fine and eased through it with perfect form. Set 2 - I got through it was feeling a little tired towards the end. Set 3 - I struggled with this one. Had to pause a couple times near the end (but stayed in plank position). Set 4 - My son interrupted me after the first pushup so that bought me an extra minute. Made it through ok but the whole time I'm thinking "how the hell am I going to complete 40 in the next set. . Set 5 - I was able to complete the 40 but I literally paused after each of the last 15

  29. I wouldn’t sell right now as I’m not so sure this is his peak. There’s still enough doubt given his draft status, team, and only being three games that I can’t see a buyer being willing to go all in. Furthermore, he gets Cincinnati, Houston, Lions to close out October, and none of those teams scare me in the slightest. I think his passing involvement is here to stay with 3-4 receptions per week (upside for more like last night), and it sure seems like he’s got a floor of 15+ touches. Consider too that Jacksonville played without their starting center and without their best WR on a short

If you buy things from Amazon it is a simple process to set up a charity, it doesn't cost you anything, and a portion of the cost of most items you buy will be donated to the charity. https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GMXLBCTX25RL6A2E

  38. 36. Led Zeppelin “In My Time of Dying” (from Physical Graffiti) https://youtu.be/scpqae3P7Dg This 11 minute blues classic (longest song they ever did) exemplifies why Led Zeppelin can make the case for having the greatest rhythm section of all time. Bonham’s drums are on a level equal to “Levee”, while Jones’ fretless bass is constantly shifting. What’s amazing is that this album has two tunes even better than this one.

And you don’t have to be a runner - I walked a good part of my 5K if I’m being honest. By the way, the race medal is sweet and the dry-fit shirt is really nice (though it does have a big logo on the front - see the photo at the link). Anyway, we hope many of you participate, and thanks again Fred!

  40. ABOUT CHANCE FOR HOPE The Chance for Hope Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization formed in April 2014 to honor the legacy of Chance Davidson, a thirteen-year-old boy who lost his battle with brain cancer in October 2013. Having been a previous pediatric cancer family and Pearland resident, the founders of our organization have an acute understanding of the needs of the pediatric cancer community and the challenges faced by these courageous children. The charitable mission of the Chance for Hope Foundation is to provide support services for children with cancer and their familie

  42. It's thought to be predominately droplet spread, with a component of aerosolization. And a smattering of fomite transmission, plus maybe fecal-oral, too. The issue is defining the primary mode of transmission in most exposures, as airborne and droplet transmission exist on a continuum. Aerosol-generating procedures like intubation are a no brainer, and we err on the side of caution in healthcare settings, routinely wearing N95 masks if PPE is available. But for typical risk individuals who aren't partaking in high risk activities, it's hard to give advice that will satisfy everyone. There
