  2. 11th Annual Year-End Reports I'll do some free form as well as some of the bolded items from the template. As others have said, I'm not going to list a lot of names on here but that is in no way meant as any slight or lack of recognition. Obviously this was a tough year for a lot of people and everyone here played a part in helping each other out. It's why I love this thread so much. For me, personally, this was an interesting year to say the least. I had some big ups and downs and it's crazy to look back at how things played out. I'm going to break my year into periods

  4. 2020 Year End Report Overall training and progress (or regression) for the year 1700 miles through November and then I got shelved. Was in a shape decent spot pre covid and again in fall. Would have been ready to kick off a proper block under normal conditions. Clear from covid now so I do think I’ll end up with a handful more runs this year but not many. Spent more time on a bike and on core/bodyweight training this year and will continue for variety and durability. That will be the key to my comeback and next steps to improvement. I can find a volume sweet spot around 40 miles pe

  8. 2020 Year End Report: Overall training and progress (or regression) for the year Mostly regression and somewhat depressingly so. As my high school track/cross country coach use to love to tell us, "excuses are like butt holes - everyone has one and they all stink!" And that's about all I have are excuses. After making so much progress with getting in shape and doing some fun stuff running, I just totally fell off the wagon this year. I can blame all kinds of things but really it's just about lack of mental toughness. I enjoy running but just skipped doing it a lot. For the year, I

  10. We know Max's Dominion conspiracy theory is bunk because the Georgia hand recount didn't show any significant discrepancies. We also know Max's Dominion conspiracy theory is bunk because Dominion isn't even used in many of the places where Trump claims Dominion switched votes! In fact, a review of 10 states found that Trump actually performed better when Dominion machines were used (link). We're way past here.

  12. 2020 Year End Report This will be free form (not a lot to report unfortunately). The year started out poorly (no idea what was to come with Covid). December 2019, my doctor sent me to the emergency room for chest issues. Fortunately they found nothing (ran enough tests) but needless to say the year started out slowly as I was hesitant to do much exercising. Most, if any runs I did in the first few months would have been on gym treadmill but I was not logging those on Strava at the time (and now no longer have access to that data). Beginning of May, was let go due to loss of bus

  13. I am a nurse. I hope I qualify as the curious sort that looks to understand and pay close attention- I learn something new every day. There are a wide variety of nurses in this country, based on: education, personal work ethic and, most importantly, level of care. One can work in some care areas with a very limited understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. Other areas, you won't last long without that knowledge. That said, in general, the above post is very true. We are lucky to have some bona fide experts on this board, that share their expertise and insights on a very f

  16. Son #1 got his first acceptance notification...Ohio State. His friends have been hearing results from there for a few days now, but we hadn't gotten anything until today. This is sort of his safe/fall back option (really 3rd choice on his list), so I am glad he got in. A couple of his buddies who are pretty decent students got rejected or deferred, so he was a little nervous. This was actually a lot earlier than I was expecting to hear anything. I figured we'd be waiting until the new year before results rolled in...probably will for the others.

  18. That's what we heard about the recount in Georgia. That's what we heard about the Kraaken case in Michigan, the voter fraud in Wisconsin case and Rudy's brilliant lawyering in PA. At some point, doesn't reality have to set in? Every time some wacko pushes a new unsupported theory, it's "going to be interesting" or "The big one". I guess you can fool some of the people all of the time.

  19. Thanks to the internet, social media, and the expansion of cable news, mankind is in a whole new regime. Completely different realities are being created and people are highly incentivized psychologically to reside in information bubbles that make them feel good rather than seek objective truth. While we all appreciate what Joe is trying to accomplish, I think the reduction in room temperature he's achieved over the last few months is about as good as it's going to get. We're not going to have conservative vs. liberal conversations like we've had in the past. The difference in our 'realiti

  20. Look up Attachment Parenting. People have hugely different ways of raising kids, and seem eager to judge others who do it differently...like calling other methods "weird". Seems small minded and...weird... to me. As long as the kid is healthy, safe and loved...you're doing it right, however you're doing it. We didn't co-sleep as defined here (in the same bed) but had both our kids in our room while they were breast or bottle feeding and not yet sleeping through the night. Some people define that as co-sleeping.

Stephen Stills’ magnum opus and probably his best ever achievement. Nothing but classics left on this list now (not that it hasn’t been that way for a while.) Nothing that you haven’t heard a million times. The only question left is the order.

  27. Haven’t posted in this thread in a long time, but thought I would check in as I am happy with my 2020 results, but really want to take the next step in 2021. I have gone from weight 212.3 lbs on Feb 3rd with a body fat of 21.4% to 176 lbs and body fat of 13.5% today. Ive learned a lot of the last 10 months or so (not all was just learned, but finally applied some of it) so thought I would share a few things that I continually tell myself now: 1) Stop making excuses - for years I would always say “ill start dieting when xyz happens” or “ill start on Monday” and it would just be a cycle

  28. Reposted from someone I know: Do I feel comfortable getting the new coronavirus vaccine? Yes! As a physician, I thought I would take a moment to explain why I feel completely comfortable getting vaccinated. Because vaccines are designed to protect you from a disease you do not have, the bar for vaccine safety is set extremely high. The vaccine experts and infectious disease doctors who are responsible for approving the vaccines have chosen to dedicate their lives to protecting the public from disease. They REALLY don’t want to approve a vaccine before they are very convince
