  2. Much better this morning. I did not realize how much my hands had swollen yesterday. Now that my hand swelling has gone down it is quite startling. As I have mentioned I do have fairly bad arthritis in my hands and they have swollen in the past from this. My impression is that the vaccine did something to really aggravate the arthritis. Pretty rough two days but I'm glad I am vaccinated. Next week I will go for .50 wing night at the local pub which I have not done in 10 months. I am pretty stoked for that. * I will still follow all rules but now I feel safer doing that as opposed to

  7. That goes to show just how lucky we have it as middle upper class white dudes. But, sitting Presidents have affected the lives of non middle upper class white dudes. So, it's about time we try to help those not like us to be able to also sit down and finally say "I don't think a sitting president has affected my daily life since I've been an adult..."

  8. Bottom line, the national conversation is focused on actively dealing with the crisis and ramping up vaccinations. This is a very good thing and a welcome change.

  9. Yeah, that's what the American flag is for. It already encompasses everyone. If we're going to favor one group over the others with flags, that's clearly discrimination. We probably should then be flying a flag for every minority group that exists or has ever existed. Do we have a pole that's 20 miles high? I thought we're all supposed to be equals? Well, "equality" means no one group is favored over the other. Whether that's in legislation or flying stupid flags. see when you call the pride flag stupid its a tell that you dont really consider everyone equal

  10. They are still pushing some wild theories (hard to ever tell who is just trolling and who is serious). 1. Biden is now on the Q team as he’s flipped and is testifying on all the deep state Dems 2. Trump is the shadow president and running the country while Biden and others are going through secret trials. However it was deemed if all of this went public it would be too shocking to the county so they staged all of this to keep the people calm and comfortable. 3. Biden was actually sworn in as President of the independent state of DC but that’s not the USA so Trump remains P

  14. I'm interested in seeing how Q enthusiasts react to recent events. Under ordinary circumstances, it's exceedingly rare for people to change their minds in a big way all at once. When someone goes from being a Republican to a Democrat, or a Christian to an atheist, or pro-choice to pro-life, etc., it's typically in small, incremental steps that add up gradually over time. It's not just a single huge jump. With the QAnon theory of imminent mass arrests of high-profile Democrats for icky child stuff, though, how does someone change their mind about that in a small, incremental way? Yes,

  16. I wish I could count calories like you guys. Its great to have that kind of discipline. My issue with it is that I can have a great day of eating, do a little exercise and have 500 calories left. Then I convince myself I can have a couple of IPA's or some ice cream. It always bites me in the ### like that. I haven't been weighing myself regularly, but I'll start. Looking back at MFP reports.... 18. #45 - Sonic Youth - The Burning Spear (1982) Like I wrote earlier, I grew up in the sticks, so my exposure to new music was relatively restricted. Whenever I went to the mall, I would always hit the B Dalton and spend part of my meager paycheck (whatever was left over after buying gas and records/CDs) on the latest issues of Rolling Stone and Spin. In late 1988, both magazines listed Sonic Youth's "Daydream Nation" in their annual top 5, sending me on a mission to find a record from a band that I had never even heard of. I had no luck in my hometown, but on a school field trip to Annap

  19. Why do folks still label Trump as conservative? There was nothing conservative about Trumps administration. Trump himself is not a conservative. Trump doesn’t bring conservative anything. What Trump brings is nationalism.

  20. There is a lot of blame to go around. You are absolutely right that our leaders at all levels have mostly failed us. The reason Trump gets extra/unique blame is: 1. He was POTUS - buck stops with any POOTUS. He has acknowledged this fact himself. 2. For me - His job was simple while local and state was hard. He couldn’t even do that correctly - don’t downplay the virus, wear a mask, encourage everyone to take this seriously and wear a mask, give support to the states, get production going on the necessary materials 3. He used it as another means to divide the sides. People

  24. You know what? I’ve really tried with you. We disagree on many things and that’s fine, but I’ve tried and tried and tried again to have discussions with you and you always make it personal, you always put words in my mouth, you’re always nasty and rude. You win; I give up. This will be my last post in response to you. Ever. Feel free to put me on ignore and then you needn’t worry about my obsessions or my number of posts. Good luck with your life.

  26. Time for another round of post-punk revival: #15 - Squid - Houseplants - 2019 (like a yelpier, more British Parquet Courts, maybe?) #14 - She Wants Revenge - Tear You Apart - 2006 (my lord did this fill up the dance floor with all the aging goths in 2006) #13 - Franz Ferdinand - No You Girls - 2009 (FF were at the forefront of the revival, but I dig their later stuff like this too) #12 - Crocodiles - Stoned to Death -2010 - (I love everything Crocodiles have ever put out. Like a SoCal JaMC.) #11 - Fontaines DC - Big - 2019 (Look at us, we're Irish!)

  27. Apples have been my magic. Nice and sweet to satisfy the sugar pangs and very high fiber and other nice stuff in them. I hadn't eaten an apple in like 20 years until last July, but now they are a staple for me. We have a local orchard I got to for fresh ones and I go through about 2 dozen a week now (pretty small being a local shop, not those bowling balls they import from bulk growers). Pink Lady are my favorite.

  28. There was never any "plan" on the federal level to address the pandemic under the prior admin. Nothing Amazon or anyone else could help with or propose on. Similar to the health care crisis in our country - the Trump team never had anything resembling a policy or plan other than just insulting others and ranting at the fake news.

  29. Broke through plateau. Weight had actually gone up a pound + even though I know I’ve been doing great. 203.7 this morning. Started 214 12/26. 204 has been my low for last 20+ years. Been has high as 242, though I’ve been close to 210 for a long time and hardly ever getting to 220. Last time I was at 204 I was more muscular with kettlebell routines etc. Just doing push-ups at home plus biceps and triceps with bands. Goal is stay religious other than Super Bowl Sunday through the end of Feb, get to 195 and go from there.

  30. Not crazy but it will change and I'm willing to bet you're closer to this than you realize. Next time you're done eating ask yourself "could I eat another few bites if I had to?". If the answer is yes, you're already there. You stopped eating when you weren't full. Feeling satiated (not hungry) and full aren't the same thing. It's even easier to achieve when you eat slowly. I used to be able to polish off 10 wings at lunch but had to work hard on the last couple - "can't throw them away and don't want to doggie bag them". Then I just started ordering the smaller portion of 5. Sure

  31. Under normal circumstances, I would say this is just a case of an incoming administration trying to lower the bar and dial back expectations a bit. That said, I find it highly plausible that the Trump administration actually had no distribution plan.

  35. No one here is against peaceful protests and we all condemn violence that sometimes spring from them, no matter who is doing the protesting. What happened on January 6 was significantly different. While there were plenty of people there to protest and that was fine, the storming of the capitol was an attempt to overturn the election and there were some there to capture and kill members of congress and the vice-president of the United States. Those people are no better than the 9/11 terrorists and they deserve the harshest of penalties. This should be perfectly clear to anyone that

  41. And I'm going to do this for the second time, take a song that mphtrilogy took a cover of, but take the original version. This morning I awoke at 4 a.m. and couldn't fall back asleep, which isn't unusual for me except this time it was due not to stress and tension but excitement. I got up and posted this song on Facebook as my feeling and theme song for day. And then Jon Bon Jovi stole my idea at the inauguration party, without so much as an attribution to me! 146.k4 The Beatles - Here Comes The Sun (R&R Hall of Fame)
