  1. During my run today, Strava gave me credit for my second fastest times in the following categories: 15K, 20K, 10 mile, half marathon. I think that is correct. My first fastest in these categories would have been during my PR half marathon in October 2018 that I ran at 6:08 pace. Today’s run averaged 6:13 pace. However, I think I’m in better shape now than then. This wasn’t a race and I wasn’t planning to run a super fast pace. I just planned to run somewhat fast. First mile was my slowest at 6:35 which served as my warmup from the front door. But by miles 3 through 5 I was

  2. I'm not gonna be stupid about it. I'm gonna run easy (if at all) the next couple of days and take a half day off work on Wednesday to hopefully do the 20. If it hurts, I'll pull the plug and just coast until the race. Any later than Wednesday, and I don't feel like there would be enough time for total recovery.

  3. It will be a welcome distraction to come back to this when I’m ready and things get settled. Right now I go from a puddle of tears to a zombie state. I will never be ok again, but it will get better. I do love my music ifriends here - and when I do come back to the draft forgive me if I take something that’s been drafted in the last 10-20 rounds as I’m not paying any attention but I do feel the need to reply to any kind words.

  4. I know it’s just a message board, we don’t all really know each other and we are spread all over the country but if there’s anything we can do to help even in the slightest let us know. Just need to vent to or talk things or anything.

  5. I think I've mentioned this before, but it's the hours between 6 pm and bedtime that kill me. I'm super-healthy all day and then often break down. I actually sometimes go to bed earlier than I would just to avoid eating and drinking.

  8. I have no problem saying there are problems outside of a or b. However, my starting point is that we have secure borders, for a lot of reasons. The "other side" doesn't care about that. Because what Trump did re: securing our borders made a big difference. It wasn't perfect, and we can talk about what else needed to be done re: processing people who want to come here quicker, etc, but there is no doubt he made the border more secure than it had been in decades. And, for me at least, that is the first and most important goal. Protecting our own country comes first. Anything else comes se

  9. Even if Watson is totally innocent of inappropriate behavior.....he is a complete and total moron for exposing himself (legally speaking) in this manner. You have special (legitimate) massage needs? Hire one full time legitimate professional who understands this and is ok with it. Flying in outside "masseuses" from Instagram was just about the stupidest thing someone in his position could do, especially in this climate. (Even if some of them are legitimate) Some folks just don't deserve to be rich

  11. I'll 🤙 the dialog too...its all good stuff. To expand what I meant on the "white supremacy" angle is that I feel that the term has moved beyond the "guys in white hoods" and focused on the average everyday white person as a whole. As an ethnic group over the last few years we have been lumped into this "oppressor" category that is not allowed to comment on certain topics, we "need to be educated" and are blamed for every minority shortcoming. Any argument about race is shut down with the "white privilege" card and the "you need to do better" to which it is impossible to defend when this

  12. They should probably know something isnt right, unless they think they are so awesome that people fly them in for a freaking massage. It doesnt excuse any wrong doing on the part of Watson, but it's a whole other level of naive to think flying in somewhere for a massage is normal. Lot of weird in this.

  14. Its simple common sense. What logical human thinks a massage therapist being flown in is a normal thing? Especially with no prior encounters with the person. Hence the spidey senses. As I said, it doesnt excuse any deviant behavior from Watson. However, yeah, they probably should have known something was up. I had a friend a while back get beat up a bit at an Ohio State/Michigan game. He was wearing his OSU stuff AT Michigan and talking a bunch of junk. Did he "deserve" to be physically assaulted? No. Should he have known better? Good god yes. Many of us spend ou

  15. Yes, very much so. Very early on, it was thought that coughs & sneezes were the main concern, and that mere breathing and talking were of not much (or even no) consequence. Later, it became clear that [indoor spaces] minus [ventilation] plus [talking / breathing] equals [COVID infections]. Something else not understood until much later was that [amount of virus shed] by an infected person does not correlate with [severity of symptoms].

  16. So every POTUS from Reagan to now think of him as an expert and choose to keep him in one of the most important rolls in the country. But Tony from the internet says he’s “no expert” and just a “desk surfer”. Wow, I’m so conflicted on who to believe.

  18. I'm not about to defend the NYT on this stuff, but I think this article is substantially misleading when it says "The New York Supreme Court has ruled against The New York Times, finding that they used "actual malice" and acted with "reckless disregard" in several articles attacking Project Veritas." This was only a ruling on the NYT's motion to dismiss the complaint. Despite all the election lawsuits we saw dismissed over the past few months, the reality is it is very hard and very rare to get a case outright dismissed based on the pleadings. In this case, the judge is allowing the c

  19. Someone did say this in a review: "There was a weird chemical smell on them so I had to let them air out for a day or two before gifting them to my friend." That smell can be washed out. Someone else said: "The fabric is definitely synthetic-feeling. Kinda like wearing a trash bag, which is the only reason I deducted a star from the rating." Others say they are soft. k and I are taking our chances.

  26. Thats not a secure border though. Just like allowing 5 million gallons of water to stack up behind a dam that is designed to only hold back 1 miilion gallons isnt "secure" The part that makes us safest is ithe ability to process people efficiently and not have that backlog. Part of that is keeping those out that shouldnt be here. This isnt close to the zero sum game many of you want it to be. Its infinitely more complicated than that.

  27. OK thank you. There are clearly partisan motivations in both directions. We should discuss the merits of the proposal without accusing each other of only holding our position for partisan reasons. Here are some reasons I think D.C. should get statehood: 1) There are a lot of people that live there and it seems really undemocratic for them not to have representation in the House and Senate. 2) The population of DC is larger than two existing states so it’s hard to argue that it is too small to be a state.

  28. Do those of you pointing out the partisan reasons to support statehood also recognize the partisan reasons to oppose statehood? Or do you feel like the anti-statehood folks have entirely nonpartisan reasons for their position?

  29. Pretty wild how much the committee screwed both of these teams. Reminds me of Wichita State's undefeated season when they had to play 8 seed Kentucky in the second round. Those images of Julius Randle bullying Cleanthony Early in the post are still seared into my brain.

  33. Round 260.xx Caetgory: Matt Pinfield's 150 Seconds Song: That's For Me Artist: The Muffs I take my short songs seriously. I used to believe that if you couldn't make a musical statement within three minutes, you were just wanking about. So I tried to find a fully-realized, non-repetitive, non-outright punk song that ended in under a minute or so, and this one that I find to be a gem keeps popping up in my head. It's about a twenty-five second treatment that feels full. From the mastermind of Kim Shattuck, here's the tune.
