  2. Good morning. Value/dividend picks today for those seeking current income, and some long term moderate growth. These stocks are highly defensive. MDU EXC VZ GIS GSK PFE LMT These are not sexy in today's GME/AMC/SPAC/Bitcoin frenzy/roulette wheel casino market we see right now LOL. These are real stocks, with real earnings, and real strong and growing dividends. Buy them with the utmost confidence for long term compounding and a defensive sleeve for your portfolio. Take care folks.

  3. "We" don't saddle anybody with debt -- the student decides on their own whether they want to go to graduate school, and they also decide whether to borrow to finance their degree, whether to pay for it in cash, or some combination of the two. People who want to cancel student debt need to explain why people who chose to borrow should retroactively get their purchase for free, while people who chose to pay up front should get nothing.

  4. The victim of the unpaid internship system isn’t your son. It’s the person that can’t do the unpaid internship because he needs to pay his rent and eat. And then can’t get the six-figure job later because he doesn’t have the experience that your son has.

  5. I’m a 180 from this guy. The mainstream media’s normalization of Trump’s psychotic, infantile behavior these past several years is inexcusable. Never has a public figure been treated with kid gloves like this man was. He said and did things on a daily basis, day after day for years, that are completely unacceptable in any professional setting, and the media essentially stopped reporting it, I suppose out of fatigue more than anything.

  6. This is way early. Pro Day workouts and the NFL Draft will drastically change my draft board, but I figured I would share this as a work in progress. Links to Shark Pool player profiles are provided (compliments of @Faust) where they were available, otherwise, I just linked to some highlight tape, so you can familiarize yourself with the player, if you wish. I left off my player analysis for now, as well as my "range of comparisons". I will add those later, but it seemed a bit premature yet. Most of my rankings are penciled in, with the idea that they are very, very preliminary.

With varying degrees of maturity and length of hold. EXPC - Owned by Lupton and ARK, announced Blade as acquisition, should pop when deal is completed and ticker change. TRXC - Owned by Lupton, who has been dominating the small cap growth stock scene...he just started a position a few days ago. BZUN - Lupton says it's an easy double over the next year, chinese company, comparisons to Shopify AHAC

  9. Ok...so was on the phone last night vs trying to type this out and not sure how much I was going to share. Last August/Sept, our son was hospitalized after taking a handful of pills. Thankfully, he threw them up pretty quickly before we were even alerted to what he had done. After a trip to the ER and a psych evaluation there, he was admitted to a facility. Severe depression. That may have been the worst night of my life. My wife took him to the hospital (only one person could be there...plus I was home with our daughter as this happened late at night). So I spent a night not knowin

  11. Over the past several years, you've truly gone off the deep end in terms of defending every single thing that "your team" does and (intentionally?) mischaracterizing everything the "opposing team" does. You know full well that the Capitol incident involved hundreds of people illegally entering the building, with a significant subset of those entering via violent means. You know full well that some officers actively assisted some of those who entered illegally. We have recordings of this. We know these things for a fact. Yet you persist in false equivalencies and outright lies rather than

  17. Big news for The_Son - just found out he got the Rubenstein Scholarship from Chicago! Full tuition + a $20,000 per year stipend. Last week he was fortunate enough to be offered a full-tuition scholarship from NYU (which is confusingly called the Vanderbilt Scholarship) but with the NYC cost of living, it is still going to be about $90,000 out of pocket to go there. Pretty sure he's going to take the Chicago offer, except that his girlfriend of 5+ years is living in NYC and working for the US Attorney there through Fall of 2022 when she plans to start law school. So he's got to figure out wheth

  18. Aside from the awareness I hope this thread brought about, it also should show everyone that we aren't alone with this stuff. And it doesn't mean we aren't good parents when our kids are going through these issues. It's heartbreaking reading through some of these posts, but there's some comfort as well to see that we aren't failing them just because they go through this. I wanted to add another part that I think plays a part, even moreso for us as parents. We hear or read stories or see things on Facebook, or whatever it might be about kids that accomplish these amazing things. And I kno

Dinner and drinks at Gusto Beach. Hit a Super for some basics. Now floating in the pool sipping a Imperial chatting with the GF. So far have seen a couple bugs (millipedes and random ####) and a 2' iguana who was kicking it by the pool. Mosquitos have been a non issue and we've been outside all night.

  22. This is exactly how misunformation ends up running rampant in right wing circles and why it's so hard to combat it. Having had the benefit of watching parts of the trial, I'm actually familiar with the story so I know why it is a stupid allegation. But disingenuous prople like Trump's lawyer and Hannity, etc. say "The Democrats doctored evidence!" and then disingenuous people and low-information right wing people all over repeat "doctored evidence!" and then people that already mistrust and hate the Democrats say "see!" They don't realize or care how stupid the story is so they just ke

  23. Hope you peeps are doing well. I can't quite say why I've been so MIA lately (outside of my one Christmas update) but it's probably just a combination of being busy with Baby Harris, COVID-life stress leading to an overall poor mental state, deaths in the family, work craziness/starting a new job, and figuring out our lives after deciding that we're moving back to Chicago.... Baby Harris aka Eloise: Before little E came along and people said that having kids was the best thing ever and they're so great, life will never be the same, blah blah blah, I would just think yeah, right, "these pe

The course conditions warning from the race director while not surprising was appreciated and led me to tee up a few different contingency plans. I headed out to the course a little early to scout out the worst parts. I hadn't ran here before, but I know enough that have to know where the problem areas likely reside. The 50K and half marathon groups went off before us, so there were already volunteers around the problem areas. I came packing with old road shoes, yaktr

I went into it knowing that at 15 hours they more or less would give you a shot, this wasn't some altruistic thing, I knew that going in nearly certainly I'd come out of this with a shot. I went out there mid morning on Friday, and they gave me the rundown and I went out to basically mark cars with the information like 1st/2nd/Pfizer/Moderna and people inside and how they were going to validate. I got whisked off to a far corner of fair park and just went thru the line taking down this information and chalk painting it on the winds

The last two months I've been losing weight i already lost back in October when I got the scale to briefly show 219.8, then celebrated by eating and drinking everything I could for a couple months. Which means this is officially the least I've weighed in the last 15 years, maybe longer. Every pound I lose from here on out is a new record. 31. Valentines Day Kind Of Sucks A few thoughts: If this is the one time a year you buy your person flowers, you can do better. If this is the one time a year when you're extra thoughtful or nice to your person, you can do a lot better. Moreover, Valentine's Day is a manufactured, made-up, BS day. Supposedly signifying something many of us should be doing every day. Suddenly caring more about your person on the 14th day of February is like suddenly caring about the direction and path of your life on the 1st day of January. It's better than never caring. In the olden days, you would bump into one of those people from time to time but it probably wasn't a regular occurrence. Today, though, those people have access to social media. It turns out that nuts are drawn to hot takes, and the social media infrastructure operates as if it were intentionally designed to amplify these folks. 34. Was thinking of this thread last night. It has been just about a year since everything fell apart around here. We had a trip to Niagara Falls booked for my birthday in March that we cancelled due to uncertainty around COVID. On March 17th we had our first case at work. Led to an outbreak. A coworker's wife died. Since then I know over 45 people that have had it including both my sons, my daughter-in-law and grandkids. A number of people who have died. My son who lives with me had it and my wife and I avoided it. I believe whole heartedly that we were able to navigate those two weeks safely bec

And I had really hoped that with the change in administration, we would talk about more issues and have some productive conversations. But thread still go awry. We can't actually talk about the subject matter. We have to talk about "Well what about this thing Trump did? You didn't speak out against that?" "Well you didn't speak out against the Antifa riots, but you're mad about the capitol riots?" Why can't it just be bad when Pelosi doesn't wear a mask--regardless of what Trump does? Does Trump HAVE to be our standard

  37. Please stop comparing the Jan 6 insurrection to the race riots over the summer. They are not the same. The former was a clear and direct attack on the legislative branch to prevent them from doing their constitutionally required duties. The latter was a continuation of the same protests we have seen since the 60's. This "BoffSidez!" theme is damaging and an attempt to avoid introspection.

  39. YOLO and I have had such a wonderful life at that. Today I go all-in with GME. First let me say that this is not sound financial advice and I am not a cat. Don't do what I do with money you can't lose. It's reckless at best and could implode on me in a big way. I think there is a real chance (above 15%) that GME could get caught in a gamma squeeze. It tried to happen yesterday when the stock showed massive support at 125 which gave it fuel to push to 150. Breaking 150 triggers so many call options that once it broke through it was knocking on the 180s. Fuel stops get triggered

  40. 86. The Kinks “Destroyer” (from Give the People What They Want) https://youtu.be/_WJ6FbcWYRU The Kinks were actually a pretty good 80s band, as Ray Davies still had some songwriting chops left in him. This song steals their classic riff from “All Day and All of the Night”, throws in some new lines about Lola, and focuses on that old Davies’ obsession, paranoia. What’s not to love?

RB: Najee Harris, Alabama Travis Etienne, Clemson Javonte Williams, North Carolina Kenneth Gainwell, Memphis Michael Carter, North Carolina The top 3 are as set as the top tier (in some order) as they can be for early February. 43. Alright I'm in. In June of 2019 I finished my 25th ultramarathon race with the San Diego 100 miler. I weighed in the low 180s then, so at 5' 11" in no way was I skinny as I still had a bit of a gut (I'm most definitely not built like a runner), but I was feeling pretty good. Later in 2019 I did my normal seasonal drift up in weight in the winter to the mid-190s. Then Covid happened, all races were cancelled for 2020, and my motivation waned as I drifted up over 200 lbs. I suffered two injuries in the first half of 2020 that kept me from running much or at all for weeks-months at

Master bedroom is painted and ready to go. Which means, I get to run again. Will try and run tomorrow morning, and then on Sunday it's my annual: "Chiefs Are In The Super Bowl So Run in Your Chiefs Gear Carrying a Chiefs Flag" run. Did this last year and it was a blast.
