  1. I asked out loud in front of the wife and kids - "at what age do the kids take over planning Mother's Day and I get out of this?" FTR, kids are 19, 17, 15, 13. I'm fine being the bank but I think after 20 years of Mother's Days they should have to take over.

  3. My god in this world, Willie Mays, is 90 years old today. I will celebrate this, not with some ol' man nostalgia tour, but by telling you what having #24 as my deity has taught me. THE WORLD IS SOME BULL#### I knew the above as soon and surely in my life as that kisses are sweet and milk builds strong bones, simply because the Greatest Person in the World was a black man from Alabama who could not drink water........frikkin water.......wherever water was because some bald-faced bohunks took fulfilment out of degrading generation after generation of a society of men, women and childre

  4. We have SO MANY other threads where we can be richards to one another. Let's not let this one be one of those. This thread has always been a Switzerland of sorts, with politics left outside the saloon doors and genteel behavior towards each other the only brand on tap. My two cents....Let's make some money and have a festive weekend!

  6. “Buying on hope” was a comment I pulled from his post. Yes exactly......it is a pure speculation play. They have no earnings. They have IP that may change the entire landscape of EV. So yeah......it is hope. Much like Apple and Amazon were two decades ago. This is how it starts. And this is why you only invest what you are willing to lose in stocks like this. And as time goes on that hope can either turn into tangible earnings and a legitimate great business or it will go to zero. That is the stock market. That is it, in it’s very fundamental essence and about as simple as we

  9. OK, I officially signed up for the Monumental Marathon and booked a room at the JW Marriott. That's the right hotel, right? I've been thinking a lot on how I want to train for this. As you likely know, I haven't followed any type of a training schedule or plan in many years. I think the last time was 2014. I have my reasons for doing that and I've had success but I know there are things I'm doing (or not doing) that are suboptimal. I think I should have more of a structure. I see three options: 1. Create a plan myself. 2. Follow one of the popular plans. Likely eit

  10. At first glance I agree, but then when I think about it I almost think the opposite. If anything it's ridiculous that RBs are so ridiculously overvalued in 1qb leagues. I love RBs having lots of value but I'm pretty sure that is solely because traditionally in FF that is what I'm used to. If I were just wandering into FF right now having never played it before and saw how RBs are ridiculously overvalued in 1qb leagues I would probably think to myself "this is really really stupid that such an unimportant NFL position is the thing this entire game is built upon.". If I were wanderin

Do you all recommend Hanson or something else? I'm likely looking at an October race. Also, after a totally F'ed up 5 months at my work, I put in my letter of resignation after 15.5 years (last day is 5/31). No plans at the moment and may just take the summer off, go to the pool with the family, run and workout, and let my wife be a sugar momma for a bit (I of course have her approval)

  14. Appreciate the thoughts and messages. As I said, I've been scaling back my involvement in FF over the past few years, but I do think I'll rise to the challenge and put out some full public rankings in the next week or two. I have a pretty good idea of what I think at RB/WR/TE already. I just need to dive into the QBs because I've done no work there. I'll save full comments for a later time, but I have Najee, Waddle, and Pitts as the top guys at their positions. They would all be top 3-4 on my board in most formats. Probably fading Etienne at his ADP, as I think he's more of a sprinter and

  15. I listen to the people on both sides. The Trumper Right claims they are being persecuted by an unfair society/government; that there is a "two tiered justice system(Hannity quote)" that doesn't benefit them and that the government actively works to hold them back......but when Blacks try to claim that, they say that isn't true and instead run schrick that blacks are being manipulated by race hustlers who are simply looking to divide for their own gain. .

  20. I helped rescue some baby ducks out of a storm drain this morning. Momma duck was in distress when I drove by, figured her little babies fell through the grates so I called the cops and we got them out safely. Figured that sort of good karma would fuel a nice green day for me. Eat a giant bag of dildos, karma.

We open red again tomorrow, much agony will follow, woeful posts in here but by the time the east coast crowd starts eating Ramen for lunch because 3-Martini lunches are no longer in the budget, stocks will reverse course and finish green. Friday will be a bigly up day and we'll all go into the weekend feeling like Judge Smails.

  24. I'm a big Hanson's proponent....and probably the Hanson's poster boy in this thread. My thoughts..... 1. Its a challenging program and I honestly don't know if I would recommend it to a first timer. However, if you want to do it, that's cool. I'd recommend the beginner plan. I know it sounds wimpy, but from what I've heard, its pretty intense on its own. (Admittedly, I've always done the advanced, so I'm just reading what I read online.) 2. The key to Hanson's is to run your easy runs super easy. Do not push the pace on those or you will get injured and bury y

  31. My early Post-Draft Draft Board (Dynasty PPR): 1.01 Najee Harris RB1 (Tier 1) 6-2 229 Pittsburgh Steelers (Round 1, Pick 24) Harris retains the top spot in rookie dynasty drafts. The Steelers have long been a blue collar team which takes pride in a rugged ground game. However, the Pittsburgh O-line has struggled recently, and we will see a lot of new faces up front this season. How quickly this line comes together will be the key to success for Harris. 1.02 JaMarr Chase WR1 (Tier 1) 6-0 207 Cincinnati Bengals (Round 1, Pick 5) Teaming Chase up with his former

  34. Just a few random tidbits here, but I suspect the pain in the market is going to continue for a bit. I've been nibbling a bit here and there as I think financials are going to fare pretty decent. I posted earlier I'm too dumb to pick individual winners in this sector, so instead opted for the XLF which is up ~45%. I added to that a bit, and also like Square, MasterCard and Visa. I am probably on an island here, but I think the inflation estimates are severely overblown. Are prices rising, sure. But a lot of the commodity shortage issues are not really long term problems, rather, you a

Being Ebeneezer Malaise, I was like "Lady, look....it's 38 degrees outside, I've got a large bet on a football game that kicks off in 20 minutes and I have half a sandwich leftover from yesterday that's been calling my name all day long, so hard pass". 43. You can 'go' faster than that. -- And I'd say don't sweat the fact that your strongest priorities are not running right now. In several years, when you can make the appropriate commitment, you can then be the best you can be at that age. I've wondered at times what I might have been able to do in a marathon if I had made the attempt 25-30 years ago. But I don't dwell on it because I know that my focus was elsewhere ...no regrets about it. The beauty of the AGs is you always can challenge yourself against your peers. For now, you're living a good life. Keep enjoying it!

  44. Little trick I learned a couple years ago.... Anytime my wife says something like "gee, I sure wish we had a nicer colander" or "this pizza cutter SUCKS" I open my Notes App on my phone and jot the gift idea down to a running list of items she's off-handedly commented about over the year. Then on Xmas or Mother's Day or whatever, I have a handy list available to take to Amazon. Now, this year, I had an issue. The notes section was on my old, crappyasssss phone which I threw in a drawer because I don't know what else to do with old phones. Panicked a little, but retrieved the old boy

  45. So we have family flying in for my son's wedding, they will be here in exactly 3 weeks to the day. My wife has known this for months. So in typical my wife fashion, everything is now a big rush, as I mentioned in the moving thread. So rearranging furniture and she drops this one. Oh I'm going to need you to paint this room. Yeah ok, we can paint it. No i mean before the wedding. It should only take a couple hours right.. I said are you crazy. That's a 2-3 day job, of course she thinks I'm lying. Ok first we need to spackle all the holes. How long does spackle take to dry? Me: 1-2
