  1. I will make a wager. If this stock hits $420.69 before this earnings call on March 31st, I will pass out 100 FBG subscriptions to the gents in the stock thread.

  2. I’m a 180 from this guy. The mainstream media’s normalization of Trump’s psychotic, infantile behavior these past several years is inexcusable. Never has a public figure been treated with kid gloves like this man was. He said and did things on a daily basis, day after day for years, that are completely unacceptable in any professional setting, and the media essentially stopped reporting it, I suppose out of fatigue more than anything.

  3. Ok...so was on the phone last night vs trying to type this out and not sure how much I was going to share. Last August/Sept, our son was hospitalized after taking a handful of pills. Thankfully, he threw them up pretty quickly before we were even alerted to what he had done. After a trip to the ER and a psych evaluation there, he was admitted to a facility. Severe depression. That may have been the worst night of my life. My wife took him to the hospital (only one person could be there...plus I was home with our daughter as this happened late at night). So I spent a night not knowin

  5. Aside from the awareness I hope this thread brought about, it also should show everyone that we aren't alone with this stuff. And it doesn't mean we aren't good parents when our kids are going through these issues. It's heartbreaking reading through some of these posts, but there's some comfort as well to see that we aren't failing them just because they go through this. I wanted to add another part that I think plays a part, even moreso for us as parents. We hear or read stories or see things on Facebook, or whatever it might be about kids that accomplish these amazing things. And I kno

This was not suicidal or anything - she was dealing with anxiety - that I just assumed was like any "normal " kid might. Ive noticed a huge difference in her confidence

  7. This place is awesome https://imgur.com/a/JRiBb1I Town is fantastic. Chill and a little gritty which I love. Def reminds me of Ecuador but even more stripped down. Miryam is indeed super hot. Dinner and drinks at Gusto Beach. Hit a Super for some basics. Now floating in the pool sipping a Imperial chatting with the GF. So far have seen a couple bugs (millipedes and random ####) and a 2' iguana who was kicking it by the pool. Mosquitos have been a non issue and we've been outside all night.

  8. Olde Girdled Grit Half Marathon This race was...something else, but as I commented a few days ago this was expected. The course conditions warning from the race director while not surprising was appreciated and led me to tee up a few different contingency plans. I headed out to the course a little early to scout out the worst parts. I hadn't ran here before, but I know enough that have to know where the problem areas likely reside. The 50K and half marathon groups went off before us, so there were already volunteers around the problem areas. I came packing with old road shoes, yaktr

  9. Here's more or less my FEMA volunteer experience. I went into it knowing that at 15 hours they more or less would give you a shot, this wasn't some altruistic thing, I knew that going in nearly certainly I'd come out of this with a shot. I went out there mid morning on Friday, and they gave me the rundown and I went out to basically mark cars with the information like 1st/2nd/Pfizer/Moderna and people inside and how they were going to validate. I got whisked off to a far corner of fair park and just went thru the line taking down this information and chalk painting it on the winds

  10. Stepped on the scale this morning and saw 219.6. That's probably just a nice fluctuation and I'll be back to 220.4 tomorrow morning but it was exciting. The last two months I've been losing weight i already lost back in October when I got the scale to briefly show 219.8, then celebrated by eating and drinking everything I could for a couple months. Which means this is officially the least I've weighed in the last 15 years, maybe longer. Every pound I lose from here on out is a new record. And since I have clearly added muscle, this is the best shape I've been in in my adult life. Feels

  12. Was thinking of this thread last night. It has been just about a year since everything fell apart around here. We had a trip to Niagara Falls booked for my birthday in March that we cancelled due to uncertainty around COVID. On March 17th we had our first case at work. Led to an outbreak. A coworker's wife died. Since then I know over 45 people that have had it including both my sons, my daughter-in-law and grandkids. A number of people who have died. My son who lives with me had it and my wife and I avoided it. I believe whole heartedly that we were able to navigate those two weeks safely bec

  15. YOLO and I have had such a wonderful life at that. Today I go all-in with GME. First let me say that this is not sound financial advice and I am not a cat. Don't do what I do with money you can't lose. It's reckless at best and could implode on me in a big way. I think there is a real chance (above 15%) that GME could get caught in a gamma squeeze. It tried to happen yesterday when the stock showed massive support at 125 which gave it fuel to push to 150. Breaking 150 triggers so many call options that once it broke through it was knocking on the 180s. Fuel stops get triggered

  16. 86. The Kinks “Destroyer” (from Give the People What They Want) https://youtu.be/_WJ6FbcWYRU The Kinks were actually a pretty good 80s band, as Ray Davies still had some songwriting chops left in him. This song steals their classic riff from “All Day and All of the Night”, throws in some new lines about Lola, and focuses on that old Davies’ obsession, paranoia. What’s not to love?

  17. The victim of the unpaid internship system isn’t your son. It’s the person that can’t do the unpaid internship because he needs to pay his rent and eat. And then can’t get the six-figure job later because he doesn’t have the experience that your son has.

  21. I love you all. We are starting the patient intake process for counseling next week for my youngest..she's almost 14. She has had trouble completing tasks most of her life and it is now coupled with what seems like depression and most certainly OCD behaviors. I have OCD and have medicated my entire adult life so I am sad its my hereditary fault but also happy that I can empathize and help more than my parents ever did. The heartbreaker is as of late she covers her ears when she's in the room with me, because I make some sound with my mouth she says (??). So yeah my angel can hardl

  24. 67. Journey “Stone In Love” (from Escape) https://youtu.be/kFqXFE8OSG4 Sorry @wikkidpissah there’s going to be a few more standard type rockers coming up here. What can I say? They were big in 1981, and these are good songs. This one in fact is quite likely my personal favorite Journey song of all time (or at least tied with “Wheel in the Sky”). Love Schon’s guitar work here.

  25. I signed up for a 10K today for April 3 that apparently will happen despite COVID. Waves of only 50 runners so I'm not sure if there will be anybody running my pace or if I'll basically be running solo. It's sponsored by a high school track team so hopefully there will be some track/cross country kids in my wave. I guess this is my A race since I have no plans on any other races this spring. Goal is to average under 6:00 which would be a PR. I have a decent degree of confidence that I can do that. I won't adjust my training much other than making sure to run some fastish longer te

  29. 79. Loverboy “Working for the Weekend” (from Get Lucky) https://youtu.be/cxhj1Is7HpY Yet another Canadian rock band that made it big in 1981. Yeah this is a guilty pleasure but a pleasure nonetheless, with some of my favorite cheesy 80s lyrics of all time: You want a piece of my heart? You better start from the start! You want to be in the show? Come on baby let’s GO!!!

  30. Son finally starting up soccer practice today. Tuesdays and Thursdays I'll get 1.5 hours to run while he is at practice. Some new territory to explore, so I'll be able to get some nice base building done by adding two runs per week that will be somewhere in the 6-9 mile range depending on what run I decide to do. I've been missing these types of runs desperately - nice, slow endurance building runs during the week that I never have time for. God bless spring.

  31. No. Sit tight and I will give the word. Market is still frothy. This is just getting started. Wait for the shmucks on CNBC to start pimping panic. Don’t worry....I will be here to give a back the truck up buy signal like we did back in March 2020. I don’t think you will see that kind of selloff. But a healthy 10-15% correction is what I am looking for.

  32. Selling a lot of my SPACs today, need to have cash available as we are looking to buy a house soon. They served their purpose well as a place to park cash with a few up a percent or two, a few down a percent or two, and a few of them with 30-40-50% gains.

  37. I posted about my 16 year old's struggle over the past 18 months or so. She was diagnosed in December of 2019 with depression and anxiety. She has been hospitalized three times since then. She is doing better, but I admit we take it pretty hard when we have a fantastic week and then things fall apart. She has been in on-line schooling since last January. She has over a 4.2 GPA in mostly AP/Honors classes. She will go from realizing how much she has lost not being around friends, to now she has told everyone around her that she is taking some space and working on herself. I am high risk so I ha

  38. Yeah, kids young and old are really struggling right now. I have 23 and 25 year old boys. They have both expressed how their social lives have been taken away and that they are in this weird limbo when they should be chasing dreams. The older one graduated college a few years ago, got a good engineering job, and then lost it when the pandemic hit. He struggled with depression issues, low self-esteem, anxiety about the future and was out of work for 10 months. He starts a new engineering job next week but is concerned about his inability to focus for long periods of time. I'm tryin

  39. Man, the timing of this thread. I am planning to sit down with the 14 year old tonight and talk about things. He has been struggling with the online thing the whole year, but his grades have been slowly getting worse and worse. I know he is struggling with that, but a slight red flag was raised last night when we were talking about how he hasn't been going and doing basketball like he was until about 1 month ago. I know he has been having a bit of trouble sleeping too. I worry about him a bit because I can tell the self-confidence is lacking with him and he beats himself up

  40. Round 211.xx Category: Stevie Wonder Radio Song: Living For The City I love this song. I had a different song in mind but I wanted to pick a song out of Stevie's catalogue -- a catalogue that I'm an admitted novice about -- that he personally wrote rather than a song that someone else had written for Motown. Shout out to @Uruk-Hai for any relevant background when this channel kicks into full gear today. As some might know, he started the Stevie thread that we have in the FFA.

  41. Well yeah, we do inhabit different worlds, that’s what we’ve been trying to tell people for like five years now. I agree completely with @CletiusMaximus. In my view if the media was reporting consistently with the standards of every other Presidency, the front page of every newspaper for four years should have been a giant 9/11-type headline along the lines of “NATIONAL EMERGENCY, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS MENTALLY DERANGED AND COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM REALITY.” Every single day of the Presidency was an existential crisis. The fact that those articles appeared sporadically,

Summers and Copeland were barely involved. A complex melody, and later in his career Sting would sing a slow jazz version in concert which I actually preferred a little more.

The Specials “Ghost Town” (from Ghost Town) https://youtu.be/RZ2oXzrnti4 One of the last singles by The Specials before they shrank their numbers down to become Fun Boy Three, “Ghost Town” is regarded as a classic of the Ska genre. At least partly due to its political subject matter (the lyrics are a commentary on the 1981 riots in central England) the song won the NME award for Single of the Year (sort of the British Grammies). I can’t quite go that far. It’s a memorable, catchy tune though a bit repetitive. I’ve heard it several times used recently as an anthem for the pand
