Apologies for missing so much of this. Work has been insane. And I've been unable to keep up. The posts are fun. I just haven't had the ability to comment with any intelligence (I know, never stopped me before, I see you pip, calm down).

Other than "After the Love is Gone," there are almost no songs by EWF that can be called "sad." They're kind of the antonym of sad. They've got a groove, don't they. I also love that story Bruce tells about how they were practicing at an auditorium and he entered just as the wind picked up...

Hmm, that feels like a challenge. As a guy who has seen the Boss 6 times, not counting a special guest appearance at a Bob Seger show... 1. The River 2. Darkness on the Edge of Town 3. Born to Run 4. Nebraska 5. Born in the USA (yeah, it fits right here). 6. The Wild, The Innocent... 7. Tunnel...

This is an underrated song. It isn't anything amazing, but he's basically goofing on Elvis here. It's a bit of a fun rave-up.

Music thread folks: What should be the genre of my next MAD artist?

I vote for anything that starts with bagpipe-playing mail-room clerks. Failing that, Wham.

You're probably right and I'm leaving the above as the true example of it - NY Groove is a nice song, but simply saying those words probably should give it a 4, not a 6. (I stand by the Biggie, Bill Withers and LCD Soundsystem ratings for their songs, however)

#22 City of Blinding Lights, U2: Artist Connection to New York (1-5 scale): U2 gets a 2. They aren't from NY but have such an affinity for America they deserve a bit more than a 1. Song Connection to New York (1-10 scale): The song was about Bono's reaction to fans after they first played post...

I'm back! (In a New York Groove, no less.). I'm gonna have to skip the 22-19 playlists but will dive into 18 soon and then go through the latest of the NY v Chicago songs as well. For now, though, a lot to respond to: This is really really sad, and I'm so sorry, @MAC_32. I really really hope...

I never did see the Gunners. Managed to finally catch Metallica at the Global Citizen festival a couple yrs ago, so, only about 8 songs, but was still Metallica. But yes, the more recent videos I've seen of Axl show his voice is shot. But I remember that tour well, as I recall Metallica saying...

I got a bit behind on all of this, so I have to listen to the playlists later. And I'm going away soon, so I only have time to do this here thing at the moment. #26: Return of the Crooklyn Dodgers Artist: The Crooklyn Dodgers Artist connection to New York (1-5 scale): 5. This group was really...

Ha, I've gotten a bit behind @krista4 - but I'll get at it shortly! @Dr. Octopus -- this warms my heart that you were able to see him. I saw Otis Rush in the late 1990s when he was only in his early 60s, and he already seemed quite old; he ended up living another 20 years. I also remember...

Lots of known songs in the 27s. Unknown: Days Move Slow -- I really liked this one. Lazy Bones - this one's really cool. Neat groove. Known: November Rain - I'm a sucker for the guitar solo. In the video, Slash leaving the church to go shred outside was a real 90s moment. Slaves and...

#27: Something In The Water Artist: Lawrence Artist connection to New York (1-5 scale): 5. This brother-and-sister duo are a couple of New York-raised kids who are also sorta theater brats. I saw them a couple of years ago in Brooklyn, and their special guests included "Mrs. Met." Song...

NEW OR UNFAMILIAR, AND LIKED: Rain - The Beatles: Just hadn't heard this one, or maybe not in a long time. Lay Down - loved this. Just really great. Paper Mountain Man - sort of a bit bluesy, a bit jazzy. You can see the original Traffic doing this. 19-2000, Gorillaz - any time I think I'm not...
