hey seriously though, why do they have an automatic stoppage of the clock for the 2 minute warning...isnt that a tricked up rule out of nowhere with a similar purpose to the OP's suggestion. also why is the NFL not consistent on the clock stopping when a player goes out of bounds---if it's late...
