My kid has excellent grades. Get your kid a tutor, or don’t. “We” certainly don’t have to “figure out” anything about my kid’s grades, so you can stop trying.

Well my kid doesn’t do that, so the state shouldn’t be overstepping into the school district to unnecessarily restrict them. The district already has rules about this. Again, anyone can feel free to not let their kid have their phone at school. What makes anyone think they should have authority...

If you don't want your kid to be on their phone during school, the solution is simple. Don't let them have their phone during school. CAPISCE? Stop expecting teachers to parent for you. You do it. Biggest bunch of entitled whiners.

Now imagine there are parents who would read this, and think you are only referring to kids here.

Then take your kid's phone away. Problem solved.

Don't care what your kid does or doesn’t do. Home school them if everything is such a problem for you/them.

They should do whatever is best for school aged kids, who don't have any choice but to go to school at the time that they are told.

Tend to agree, this is the play IMO. Also there are likely a circle of people who actually know this is the case, but for the rest of us, gotta just try to guess along.
