I could argue he is worse off this year. Last season the top RB on the Eagles in targets was Gainwell who had 26 on the season. Swift already has 17. The emergence of Swift as a receiving threat in this offense is taking even more targets away from Smith.

I would say going for it on 4th and Goal from the 5  in a scoreless game is playing scared. You are scared your defense can't stop the other offense.
