Meh...that's a little too broad. I'm higher on Kirk Morrison, Terrell Suggs, Tony Hargrove, and a couple of corners (Clements, Rolle, Winfield) than most but I'm a get-the-consistent-studs guy in non-dynasty leagues.
inbreeder back from the dead! ;) In my rookie drafts, I targeted DeMeco Ryans (I wasn't in position to get at Ernie Sims, but I would've), then Donte Whitner (although I would've settled for Bernard Pollard or Michael Huff). In the later rounds, I had targeted Danieal Manning, Abdul Hodge...
Good discussion here. I agree with many of your points.I noted that I don't think Thurman to be Lewis or Vilma, and I certainly wouldn't count on a 50 tackle increase for him, in part due to the points you've made. But there are plenty of LBs who play for excellent run defenses and ball...
I will respectfully disagree with you here.Thurman rookie numbers
16 games
68 tackles, 35 assists (103 total)
1.5 sacks/5 INT/4 FF/1 TD
-----------------------------------
Lewis rookie numbers
14 games
94 tackles, 16 assists (110 total)
2.5 sacks/1 INT/0 FF or FR/0 TD
Lewis soph numbers...
I don't know that Thurman can be hyped much more. But a year of study and experience, plus a fatman hogging blockers in front of him will lead to big things. Guys like Ray Lewis and Jonathan Vilma had HUGE increases in tackle numbers in their second year.Justin Smith's value probably won't...
Welcome to IDP. You'll never go back.
The JLB or "Jack" position is designed to protect smaller linebackers in a 3-4 alignments. The RILB normally is free to make plays in this scheme anyway, but my understanding is that a scheme including a JLB maximizing protection of that position still...
Nah, I'm not seeing it yet. I'll grant you that Marvin Lewis has been evasive about the 3-4 front in the past two weeks. And the Bengals probably have the backers to pull it off.
The line is the limiting factor here. Neither Justin Smith nor Robert Geathers are good fits as a 3-4 end...
Won't be Guss Scott. It'll either be James Sanders or Artrell Hawkins, who the Pats scraped off the bottom of the barrel last year. Shockingly to those of us who watched him in Bengal stripes, Hawkins impressed and seemed much more willing to tackle, so he probably has the inside track...
I don't think we should jump to any conclusions here yet.
On the surface, Brooks and Quarles taking pay cuts looks bad. In reality, neither of these guys were likely to be cut - both played way too well last season.
With regard to Ruud, his combine 40 time concerned some that he wouldn't be...
I'm sure I've missed a few, but here are some guys with new outlooks for 2006.
Players who could benefit from new defensive scheme
DL Anthony Weaver/Antwan Peek
Weaver was given a fat contract by the Texans to play DE in their new 4-3 front. He's never been much of a pass rusher, though, and...
Thanks. I didn't think to look at KFFL and the beat writers who follow the Raiders hadn't mentioned this. Here's the full blurb.
Adams outplayed Simoneau (not saying too much though, heh) and got the WLB gig in Philly last year but really wasn't anything special. He's small (5'11", 220s), but...
